Ridley Scott is getting back into Alien! Following the blockbuster success of Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus (which Scott produced), it's been revealed now that Ridley Scott is developing a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios! From a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter about Ridley’s production company Scott Free:
Scott also revealed he’s developing a new Alien movie for 20th in the wake of Romulus’ success, plus a Battle of Britainfilm being written by Joe Penhall, as well as the previously announced thriller Bomb from Kevin McMullin.
Now, before we get too excited thinking Ridley Scott is returning to conclude his Alien prequel story arc, he could merely be referring to producing the next Alien film - a sequel to Alien: Romulus which was recently announced by 20th Century head Steve Asbell. That new Alien film will be directed once again, by Fede Alvarez, not Ridley Scott.
But, in the event Ridley is referring to an entirely separate project to Fede's Alien: Romulus sequel, this could bode well for fans of his Prometheus and Alien: Covenant - given Romulus' significant link to the Alien prequels and the relevance they continue to maintain in the Alien storyline.
As we learn more, it should clear up confusion about what exactly Scott's new Alien movie is.
Ridley Scott is also producing the Alien: Earth TV series for FX by Noah Hawley which arrives next year.
