MemberOvomorph06/25/2011If this is the evolution of the Xenomorph, It is most likely to me that that at least a couple of the primary characteristics will be immediate and since there is (should be) enough time between this film and ALIEN, there is time for it evolve into what we are familiar with.
But, then again, we do not know how far back Scott is taking the film. I guess I should not be surprised that Scott is not following any of the comic story lines for this film.
Another concept I was always thought should come to fruition is that the Predators are the ones who geneticly engineered the Xenomorph, just so they had the ultimate prey for their hunts. But it seems that the Space Jockies are the ones responsible or this could simply be the evolution of a species.

MemberOvomorph06/30/2011I hope they don't just go Queen scale with these aliens either. The pilot was pretty huge, and if that's what the MALE'S grow to, I'd like to see the new Queen. Better yet, I'd like to see what the pathetic humans with pop-guns are going to do to a 40 foot walking terror.
I think my scale is about right. The regular xenomorphs are about human sized at approximately 6 feet (standing), some bigger, some slightly smaller. The queen is roughly 15 feet tall. That gives a good solid 2.5:1 ratio in sizes. If the pilot in Alien is an indication, the new basic male creatures should be roughly the same as a Queen. Which puts the Queen at a healthy 35 - 40 feet tall. Which is like fighting a house. I'd love to see that. I just don't want to see super slow attacks by something so massive (Like the end of AVP). Just because it's big, doesn't mean it's not lightning fast. Anybody who's seen a 20 foot alligator or shark hit something knows size does not mean slow.

MemberOvomorph07/2/2011I think we might want to talk about the only aliens we know that will be in the movie predominantly, the space jockey species. This movie is not about the xenomorphs, though they will probably be in it. It's about the species that created them and probably us. Fassbender said the action (probably xenomorphs - I think) takes place in the final third of the movie. The first two thirds slowly builds fear tension including politics amongst the crew. It's a good video interview by mtv.

Don't know how long they will stay up but here are two new pics of the Prometheus set. Ridley I'm sure is not happy. They will come down very soon.

MemberOvomorph07/6/2011I'm really glad I'm not the only one that has crazy dreams about the ALIEN, probably doesn't help that I snuck into the kitchen and hid under the table while my parents watched the original ALIEN, just so I could watch it, I was only 7!

MemberOvomorph08/3/2011I think everyone's ideas are cool. However, if you ever have read the comic Aliens: Apocalypse the Destroying Angels you'll get an idea of what the xeno may look like/be... Basically, its birthed out of a Mala'kak (Space Jockey) and develops into a gargantuan killing machine. It has a "bronze"color pigmentation, is rather bulky, and exists to kill. Overall body structure is the same (elongated head, inner jaw appendage, tail, etc.) except with a few variations, like shorter dorsal spines and a fringe structure on its upper jaw. It begins to slaughter other xenomorphs and its sheer size and movement causes a whole Mala'kak city structure to collapse. Supposedly, it has the ability to jump and climb structures, but its sheer size makes everthing else break apart in the process. So its kind of a concept of what the xeno may be...if it is a xeno, hopefully.....

MemberOvomorph08/3/2011More to my own comment I guess..... Well, all alien obsessed fans know that the xeno takes on some of the genetic traits of its host. An average adult male is about 5'8 or so in height. The xeno born out of a human host grows to about what..... 7 feet? So size wise, what would happen if it was born out of a Space Jockey? I'm not sure what the exact ratio on that is, but weight wise, it seems to double that of its host and gains a significant amount more height. In ALIEN, Kane was probably 5'8 or so, and like 140-150 lbs? The xeno is 300 lbs and 7 feet tall! Basically, weight doubled that of the host and height increased about a full foot. So back to the Jockey..... According to the comics/novels the being is about 8 to fifteen feet tall and has a good amount of mass too. Its a giant...... I'm guessing the xeno birthed out of that being is going to be anywhere from 15 or 20 feet tall, maybe more. Pretty much the size of a dinosaur or a queen. Instead of a graceful stalking horror its going to be a colossal terrorizing nightmare! But we won't really know until the movie premeires anyway. As far as for the "new" beast's traits, I think its going to have a more in your face attitude and just kill outright instead of disabling victims for impregnation like the creature in the previous 4 films. These things seem like they will be sentinnels rather than servants to a queen. Besides, its technically an earlier proto-type of xenomorph anyway. I guess the idea could be paralleled to prehistoric times. Earlier specimens or life on Earth in the past tended to be larger and possibly more ferocious anyway (precambrian creatures, dinosaurs etc.). It makes sense for this earlier type of xenomorph to be this way as well. Oh, and likely its going to be bio- engineered out of that green glop/precambrial soup by the space jockey or humans. This gives it a more "pure-bred" and superior genetic stock. So its a biological advantage and more of a test-tube type of creation. So humans and Space Jockeys want to create life, but instead end up creating monsters. The Jockeys ironically want to and can create life, but instead end up creating death intentionally or unintentionally through their own creations that cause their people to go nearly extinct (according to the comics) Wait, wait, I'm not finished yet. as far as the metaphorical parallel to Greek mythology (the Prometheus story). I guess everyone has figured this out alreday, but I'm going to say it anyway. The Prometheus space vessel/humans is the parallel to the titan of the myth. Its physically large and represents the humanity and its exploration/conquest of the galaxy. The stolen "fire" is the power of creation/terraforming, bioengineering etc. This power was stolen from the gods/Zeus on Mount olympus, they being paralled to the Space Jockey race. So the gods decide to punish the ambitious Prometheus by tying him up on a gallows and sending a giant vulture or eagle to eat at his entrails day after day (the process constantly repeating itself). So what does the vulture represent? The Space Jockies or Gods send out one of their creations to bring damnation/punishment upon humans (prometheus) and the galaxy. This punishment or creature is the new giant type of xenomorph or raptor (the giant vulture). The raptor tears out the entrails of Prometheus. The xenomorph inviscerates and makes hosts out of humans through chestbursters. So where is Mount Olympus? Most likely, the Alien homeworld. So will the titans climb up Mount Olympus and get into Zeus's domain? Again, I guess we will have to wait and see. So where is kratos when you need him? LOL. So, the process ofpunishment is repeated continuously and with momentum like the slien's life cycle and spread throughout the star systems. Thats my idea/opinion on it. Like evryone else on this site. can't wait! bLAH BLAH BLAH.

AdminEngineerMay-27-2012 3:59 PMSince we now have more ideas of what the Aliens in Prometheus will look like, it's neat to read through this thread again.
You can read a short explanation of the Aliens in Prometheus here - though it may contain spoilers.
