THE FILMS THAT SHOOK YOUR VERY SOUL !!!
I am going to start by saying this
It would be cool if each one of us could simply name 1 film that "shook us to our very soul" and why it did this, among anything else anyone/we want{s} to add to this discussion.
For me the first film that comes to my mind is "Deliverance"
I don't know why really, maybe it was the Banjos and the Freaks that played 'em, maybe it was the idea of that all happening to me on my camping adventures with buddies, maybe it was the Bows and arrows, yea that's it, maybe it was just flat out that damn last scene with the hand and the water.
But deep down I think it was that I Loved that Burt Reynolds loved football.
He was "The Man" when I was a kid.
He had at all... and seeing him in that shit scared the crap outta me !!!
Down to my soul.
Down to the point that I had dreams about it !!!
It's Your Turn Now !!!

MemberOvomorph12/18/2011oh wait.. irreversible.. i thought i'd managed to wipe that one from my mind..
Saying don't watch this film will just make people go watch it, but seriously, do not watch this film. Some people say it was brave and pushed the limits, some people say it was experimental, some people say it was a poor excuse for a film. I just thought it was too much

MemberOvomorph12/20/2011The religious and just freaky implications of nailing anyone to a cross freaked my curiosity out when I was a Kid and when i first saw this one ... it has left an indelible stamp on my soul.

MemberOvomorph12/20/2011"The Other" Thomas Tryon was a master of creepiness, and when I originally saw it as a tween, this movie definitely creeped me out.

"Magic" was...
One of the most entertaining Books I ever read in my life, years before the film was made...and I became a big fan of William Goldman's storys.
This guy was Stephen King before Stephen King was.
And WOW...Am I ever completely BLOWN away that someone here other than me knew about this wonderfully terrifying film.
I remember actively challenging this movie scene by scene while in the theater watching it the first time to screw it all up for me like almost every film does...and almost certain each time I was going to see the mistakes....
There were none.
It was FLAWLESS !!!
and one of the single most UNDER RATED films in motion picture history !!!

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011for me it would be (in order of viewing)
Star Wars: saw this one in a limited 2 week engagement in 1978
i've not been the same since. this film holds a special place in my heart
The Exorcist: saw this one on TV (edited) i've not been the same ever since.
i didn't sleep at all the night i saw it. i was literally shaking in my bed, sweating,
crying, just really DEVASTATED by this one. still, one of my all time favs
The Empire Strikes Back: took us almost a month to get tickets to see it,
when we finally did, it was WELL worth it, probably the most solid Star Wars
sequel to date
Blade Runner: saw this first run in the theater,
i was too young to really understand / appreciate it, but as time has passed,
it's one of my all time favorites, really profound concept for a film. Great.
ALIEN: saw this one my VCR,
i was not lucky enough to watch it first run, but since i first saw this film,
i can saw with all honesty, i've seen ALIEN 200+ times, and i just got it
on iTunes last week. there are few sci-fi films i'd call "hardcore", but this
one is definitely up there with 2001: A Space Odyssey, and THX 1138,
and Blade Runner. such a fantastic and iconic work of cinematic art
Excalibur: another one that had MANY rentals from my local video store,
John Boorman REALLY knew how to weave such a complex story into
a real visual / emotional journey. i recall the first time i watched it, i actually
felt EXHAUSTED when the film was over, like i had been taken far away
@Spartacus: The Other is a GREAT low-key suspense film,
they aired it on TCM HD, looked really great. still hold it's own even today

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012... last but not least the trash classic liquid skies; I like this cheapjack production
because of its tremendous special efx, especially when it comes to 'orgasmic cease
to exist': one of very few innovative sci-fi motion pics that were made up as soft porn!
Cheese...
