I also read somewhere today as matter of fact, that The Engineer's may have sent out several ships that all look the same. It could be possible, however unlikely it may seem.

I believe the two planet theory is very likely. I'm also convinced the crew land on LV426 at some stage whether it's during the last 10 minutes or not I'm not quite sure. But the trailer shows two distinct planets one lush and well developed the other barren and dull. We could be into a scenario of good planet/bad planet. The jockeys could have developed the bad creatures on LV426 a small planetoid while keeping the large terra-formed planet for their greatest creation man.

The shots of Shaw being blow away might be reminiscent of the weather encountered by the Nostromo crew.

Good point Biomechanic. I know that the Alien SJ was the jumping off point for Prometheus but I wonder if Ridley wound up taking the story in a different direction. Also, I don't think the SJ ship in the trailer necessarily crashes--I personally think it smashes the human craft purposely and then lands on the planet--it appears undamaged after destroying the relatively human ship.

I noticed that too. You can see fire streaming off of it just after the impact, but after impacting the ground and starting to roll, it looks completely intact. Smashing your hull directly into the ground would be a weird way of landing, that's for sure.
Biomechanic › Posted 12/28/2011 That is weird. If you put "Ridley Scott promises "nasty" Alien prequel in 3D" in a google search it will be the first one.
I just saw what you wrote BIO and thank you for doing that for me, however when I just tried it I got the same message, if it costs nothing or very little to subscribe I might do it but I did not check, do you know if it does or not? TX for any info, wanna read it.

To go from the geology depicted in the trailer to the geology of the LV-426 we are familiar with in Alien in a period of thirty years is a non-starter. IMO, there are three possibilities:

They are different worlds with different spacecraft of the same class/model.
It is indeed the same spacecraft but crashes twice on two different worlds.
It is the same spacecraft, but as one plot-line suggested, by means of time-travel, it crashes aeons before Alien, thereby allowing geological processes to sculpt the landscape we are more accustomed to.
Personally, I hate all three, but dismissing each and every one of them leaves only ineptitude on the part of Ridley, which is an impossibility. I'm basking in the intrigue this uncertainty creates!

Remember the Predators trailer where we see the depiction of Adrien Brody's character being tagged by multiple Predator shoulder-cannon crosshairs - I missed that in the movie! Bad sport but it does happen.

I agree with you Starbeast... There maybe more than one Space Jockey craft.. One maybe even called Prometheus. The way the derelict ship crumbles is odd.. it looks like the left "horn", falls to the right side.. then something else falls down next to the left "horn" if that makes sense..

danrald, Not sure which part of the trailer you refer to but your thoughts remind me of my own puzzlement at a particular point in the trailer - perhaps one and the same as yours. Around about 58 seconds into the trailer we see a clip of the Rapace and Theron characters in the foreground running away, while behind them the "derelict" is falling down. However, notice further back, and to the left, there seems to be another object coming to rest. I'm intrigued as to what and where that is from - I've persuaded myself it is not a part of the "derelict", but what could it be?...

Starbeast.. we are on the same page. That whole action piece seems to be sequential. But we don't know what hit the derelict, or there could have been more pieces to the derelict that we don't know about. Something exploded in midair away from the derelict, but it (the derelict) got hit in one spot.. when it lands upright you can see the smoke coming out of it. The arial view also show things burning around it.. Shaw is on the side of the 3 rings ("vaginal entrances" as Giger calls them) on the ship. But then both the horns fall in the same place. Which is odd.. unless there is another ship.. You said "notice further back, and to the left, there seems to be another object coming to rest". The "further back object" is the right sided horn from the arial view. Well at least to me it look like it.. none the less, it would be odd for the ship to crumble like that.. Note! This is not the same ship as the one in Alien, but it looks like it, the one in mid air is missing some pieces that was in the original Alien.

Starbeast, we are on the same page. You said "notice further back, and to the left, there seems to be another object coming to rest.", that further back piece is the right horn of the ship from the arial view. The series of events are sequential. The derelict gets hit, by something slightly. The explosion is away from the ship. It lands upright with smoke coming out of it. Shaw is on the side of the ship with the 3 rings ("vaginal entrances" Giger calls them). Then the right horn (the further back piece) from the arial view falls on the right side. Then the left horn falls next to it.. meaning it rotates. Or.. there is another ship.. Note, the ship in mid air is not the same as the ship in Alien. It's missing a piece. Which is another thread.. lol

Yes, you can see a big gouge in the ground to the left of the derelict in the shot where it is resting "horns up." It falls horns first and apparently rolls all the way around to a horns up position. Of course, nothing that big should be capable of doing that and remaining intact, but it definitely appears to be the sequence of events.

Nice, Biomechanic! That's a very large explosion, with a crap-ton of debris flying out.......makes sense to conclude that one ship rammed the other, and the non-SJ ship was obliterated in the impact...and we see chunks of the other ship landing all around Theron and Rapace.......looks like we'll see this ship continue to rotate around ~ 180 degrees, until the "horn" with the quasi-fin visible here, strikes first, followed by the other, nearly on top of the female leads, as they flee. It must then continue rolling across the ground until it reaches a horns-up position in the shot with Rapace staring at it.

my take is a bit different ..after the impact the ship make a "controlled" fall with the horns-up ...then it fall down ( maybe because heavily damaged ) ...and reach the "derelict" standard position while the girls escape .
