whats in the ampules?

The only thing that I feel fits is somthing along the lines of an evolution booster. Like how we got from apes to what we are now. that also fits with the Greek prometheus definition. I was hoping anyone could come up with anything else.

I was just thinking about the snake creature shooting out of something in the original leaked trailer.......... from the design of the creature with the spring tail could the ampules be a safe way of storing the face hugger? The engineers harvest the eggs from somewhere using the derelict and then under controlled conditions transfer the face hugger into the ampules for safety?
