Last Thing, and another Punch in the gut to get you all angry about some tired old argument again today...
"IMO" that means "in my opinion", and a good part of me believes this...with Giger and Scott working together again on something of THIS PARTICULAR NATURE...there is NO WAY they BOTH blow the excellent opportunity at the same time to show us all a new one of these !!!

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011I think everything that has been officially released has dropped hints along the way on purpose.
All the ones you mention and stuff I don't think they thought people would pick up on.
I personally think the xeno will make an appearence at the end of the movie, but it won't be the star of the show.
This is a great wallpaper btw.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011...great thread....except Giger will hardly be involved....but his vision for alien will be rehashed and he will actually do some murals on a wall (whoopy!!)...i have a lot of faith in this new guy who is creating a lot of the concepts ( don't ask me his name?)....u know Giger is not the only artist out their ......but his original concept is still gonna act as a starting point for all the new stuff we might see in Prometheus!

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011I agree with that completely and thank you for the Groovy desk art Theusprom.
I think whenever it may happen it'll only be for a few short seconds, but oooooooh my lord, what glorious seconds they may be.

What a fabulously original posting that is Juxtapose, I am in deep thought over what you just said there...I mean, It never occurred to me that they might use the opportunity to further infect other very creative new "up and comers" with the same bug that has, keeps both of these men going on, in their love of their respective art forms. Ridley might have even been teaching some apprentice while they filmed it...he made reference to how incredibly impressed he was with 3D technology as well, and even said he would never work without it again, that it "opens up things" he can no longer not have in his films, and I mean, they ALL must have been learning new tricks as they went along and passing them on to others in their respective circles.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011the only thing that terrify me is the view of some cliches that will suck up time ...
-the couple ...she get pregnant of a monster ..he will mutate ...
-the company suit ..she have an agenda ...she is the villain
-the android with philosophycal problems ...
I KNOW that Scott Cinematography will be the best
I KNOW that Special effects and artstyle will be the best
I KNOW that acting will be the best (fassbender , pearce, elba , theron , rapace is enough)
i fear that Lindelof guy ....

oh cool!...i though u where not gonna be pleased with my response at first....but u seem to have an open mind!..
Anyway.. as an artist myself...i work mainly with concepts...i personally am not great at creating new concepts...i have been in the position where i have to recreate a concept into a 3d format....but a lot can change in the process... I work with the conceptual artist during the whole process...so if u change certain minor things due to technicalities...they usually don't mind...This new guy is a huge fan of Gigers work..he literally worships him...so give him a chance....he did say that it was the most ambitious project he was ever involved in and that Ridley loved it!
In the end of the day...even if Giger himself did not lift a finger to do any work on Prometheus.....every artist whom did any kinda work on Prometheus has to follow his concept to the T....he is still the grand master behind all this....so involving some new artist to add to it...i think that is fabulous...so it is a exciting combination of Gigers original work and whatever this new guy can bring to the table....from what i have read so far...Giger is not objecting...Ridley is keeping him in the loop!

wow, Frantz, another thing that never even occurred to me!
Hope for all of our sakes that whatever perceived fear we all have turns out to be, although it was in good faith on our part, an error in judgement.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Juxtapose I have a great respect for what you do.
It takes a special ability, and an ability to get along with everyone no matter how annoying that might be.
It also takes great patience and attention to detail as well as and most important of all IMO a creative heart and mind.
"Creative"
That's a hard word to pin down and define isn't it?
One person's creativity is another person's shit.
Sometimes these people can even be "in charge of you" when it comes to work.
I pride myself on having an open mind "Jux", Just as I believe a lot of the other guys I have gotten to know on this forum have as well.
You're in good company.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011thanks...bear in mind that i do not create CGI monsters for movies....I create art for games...lately mostly i-pad/i-phone games...often it borders on graphic design...interfaces and buttons and logo's....but I can do a cool character or monster in 3ds max...lol
I can relate to people who are involved in that industry tho....but they are way more challenged than i currently am ...i work with a programming partner...so it's a 2 man team...a cgi character is usually created by a team of artists....i bet Prometheus will have like a hundred artists assigned to it...make-up, sculpting, animatronics...cgi...u name it!
And yes.....it is often very difficult to please my boss/partner...we often clash...and what one views as shit can be seen as a masterpiece by another....u don't have free reign...if u wanne get paid u do as u told and follow the ideas....Luckily I have personal projects...at least with those I can go ape shit!...;)

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011sure....I have no desire to end up on a street corner tho!...lol
Returning to the original topic...as I recall it was not called "Jux's shameless self promotional thread"
I have faith in the new talent....as long as he remains true to the original design and concepts that Giger had done originally....i hope we see some kinda xeno...or creature that borrows from the cute little penis shaped alien we have all grown to love and adore!...;)

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011You surely know I did not mean it that way.
I have always maintained "from the get go" that I have enormous faith in Ridley Scott at this point in his career and especially given this particular subject matter.
I will accept if we don't see one.
As I have said I am in no position to complain, and I consider this project a GIFT to us all from a man who has dedicated his life to the process of entertaining others, and "THE TOTAL RUSH" that must give him that he has stayed with it all so very long.
This is his vision, not mine. and that would be my ego talking to assume I could righteously complain if there were NO "Internecivus Raptus" type creature in "Prometheus".

If a smoke monster appears in it anywhere I know we are screwed. [/quote]
I did not miss that "Geresque" that was in fact pretty funny, by the way, I meant to ask you, did you intend when you created your name, for it to be..."Gigeresque"?
What's the origin of YOUR NAME on this forum?

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Lindelof was responsible for the star trek remake and there were some enormous holes in that script.
The whole business of Spock throwing kirk of the ship and him landing on an ice planet where low and behold he just happens to bump into a Spock and Scotty in the same planets geographical area let alone the same planet in the whole of the cosmos was just to hard a leap of probability to swallow. I know that you have to sacrifice some plausibility for story's sake but this was just daft.
I guess star trek first and foremost is entertaining sc fi for a general audience but I hope Lindelof has raised his game for this and raised his game substantially.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Sorry but plausibility and Star Trek do not ever go hand in hand. If you enjoy those kinds of sci fi stories then you have a lot of belief suspension going on to begin with. As a non trekkie, this was the first piece of Trekdom that I wholeheartedly enjoyed. Therefore, I will not downplay his writing in that movie.

artyoh
MemberOvomorph12/29/2011In any event, it's entirely possible that the story was pretty much nailed down when he came on board, and most of his work was in tweaking the dialog. He has secondary writing credits, after all.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Well yes agreed but even so the fact remains that this universe ie the alien universe has a much more discerning fan base and you cant afford to make those kind of blunders or whoa betide you will be ripped to shreds from the fan base community.
I did enjoy star trek but from a script point of view it was a bit shit.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011Having thought about this Lindelof-factor, I start to trust him; he said himself, that Ridley told him what he wants to do and his job is to realize that vision as accurately as possible, so that should sound pretty good for us fans. Remember that the projects Lindelof worked on ended up being weird and too vague only when he worked woth JJ ABRAMS. We are lucky he is not involved in Prommy, then we would really not get any answers.

MemberOvomorph12/29/2011I have a large collection of Gnomon dvds and several on Neville page. He's not a bad artist and he uses Z brush, Photoshop, Mudbox, etc although he's stuff..( like a lot of artists) is easily recognizable once you get used to his style.
The techniques he employs are good especially the mirror function in z brush where you can draw an image and have a butterfly effect like face design/ sculpting... one half of a face and using the mirror function to get a perfect symmetrical image with the ability to manipulate from that point onwards... very useful for sketch work and quick ideas.
I urge any budding artists from beginners, to pro spec artists,.. who may or may not be experienced of these tools to check them out and check out the gnomon range of cutting edge graphic artists tips and Tutorials,... ( there are plenty online) to get their creative juices flowing.
These programmes are very deep and of a pro spec nature, therefore are expensive but the creativity they allow is limitless, and the only limits are your imagination. You can even have a 3d model made from the images you create if you so desired.
For those interested in the graphic/ creature design world check out Gnomon artists DVD'S, and Z brush.
