MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Hi guys, I had to set up a new profile old one was 'Bellalikesalien'; Bella is my pet dog....
I have pondered of the life cycle or reproduction of the Engineer / Space Jockey and in seperate posts the tail of the facehugger / the trunk of the Engineer / and the contents that David is pulling out of the Urn have all been compared for their similarities.
I am going to suggest a few of my thoughts and would be grateful if people would like to discuss these with me.
1. The Engineer's are pretty much in trouble because they have exhisted for so long and need fresh DNA in order to propagate their species. They use planets to create life in order to preserve their own; not really having any empathy for the lives they are creating.
2. The Ampules contain infant Engineer's, I believe these will be face hugger like organisms. I wander what would happen if a face hugger was not to impregnate someone and would be left to age and grow. Would it die? or would it grow into something else? An engineer perhaps?
3. The infant Engineer (facehugger) when threatened could become the ultimate weapon. Attaching it's self to the threat, becoming the Alien and then wiping out all other potential threats. But creating more egg's and infant Engineer's, thus propogating the species.
4. Or perhaps the natural evolution of the Engineer is ... Egg... Facehugger... Chestbuster... Xeno... Engineer... The xeno sheads it's skid! There are similarities, are these creatures all one in the same? Just at different stages of the organisms life cycle?
5. As the Engineer is perhaps infertile perhaps fresh DNA; i.e. human DNA is required in order to save a dying race?
I would wecome any comments or ideas Thank You :)

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Oh forgot to say the mutations I believe are some sort of advanced process of changing a human into a fully grown Engineer, so that the Engineer can fly the ship to Earth to re-propogate the Engineer race................

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Interesting idea, except that there is a nasty big gaping hole on the chest of the so-called Engineer/SJ as depicted in the first ALIEN movie. If the Engineer is the final form, what's with the "hole?"
My guess is that the Xeno is a genetic nightmare. Maybe it's part of the wrong cycle of life. That's why in the trailer someone mutters "It's so wrong!" There's gonna be some perverse stuff going on in the movie. The Egr, SJ, Xeno and humans - one big happy family ?

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012True but perhaps the old make way for the new? It would be very perverse to us that for a new form of life to exhist, the parent would need to be the host. Especially a form of life advanced enough to form civilisations and spaceships.
'Wrong life cycle' has got me thinking that the mutant human that may or may not be changing into an Engineer could be seen as a threat by the infant Engineer as it is part human / part engineer??

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Dude, you are making it too complicated. This forum is just for us to speculate freely. We don't know how the movie turns out. What I meant was: whatever the life cycle is, the old familiar Xeno is the "wrong" part of the cycle. Maybe it is the violent/aggressive segment of the gene that gets turned on accidentally.

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012i was thinking on alien res and i though god, if you compare the space jockey to the hybrid, the have alot of simalarities. god i hope thats not the sctick lol

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012This is speculation Engr101, my speculation is that the xeno and Engineer is one in the same.

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Interesting theory bella, but it's hard for me to make the jump that the Xeno and the Jockey are the same species (but just different points in it's life cycle). I definately see the Jockey as being a higher organism, so it doesn't seem efficient to kill off a Jockey and replace it with a Xeno. Unless it's some strange bio recycling that happens when a Jockey is going to die. End of life, go become a host.
I'm also thinking that the Engineers might not be the Jockeys. Up until last night I assumed the Engineer was the big blue alien and the Jockey was an Engineer wearing the Jockey suit seen in the ampule room pictures. After seeing the new images, I think that the Engineers and Jockeys are a seperate species. The new head pictures seem to be the actual SJ head, and it's this creature that wears the suit and helmet.
I think the Jockeys are possibly slaves to the engineer. Maybe the ampules contain Jockey DNA so the Engineers can find some compatible organism to transform into Jockeys and rebuild a slave labor force? Instead humans start mucking around with the ampules unsupervised and accidentally create a proto xeno?

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Jeff I like your Pilot = Slave, Engineer = DNA God theory. Since the hint popped up that the engineer may not be crew members I thought about that same concept. The figurative Prometheus in this film may be a Jockey that assist the humans at a key point, and was sent by the Engineer on a one way trip to earth to deliver our punishment.
I think the official trailer during the Super Bowl or Valentines Day will create questions to keep us guessing until June 8th.
Happy Hunting!
