How far will the mutation go?

I can't help but notice, he's not really much of a mutant is he? He's just sort of charred. Now I know the crew turning into mutants has never been confirmed as a plot point, but for the purpose of this discussion let's just pretend it has been.
I hope Ridley has gone with an R-rated base for the film (regardless of what rating gets cut later), because we might end up with some really scary stuff.

If he's gone with a PG-13 base for the film I've got a bad feeling the mutants will just be a bit half-arsed:

I'm counting on beardy man being in the first stages of mutation.
What do you guys think? If mutation occurs; how far will they push the envelope? (Design wise)
Carlos Huante (who was employed to carry out some of Prometheus' creature design actually creates some pretty amazing/grotesque stuff, so we can only hope!
