MemberOvomorph01/23/2012Couldn't find this in a Google search, not sure if it's been discussed. My apologies in advance if it has.
There are 4 SJ suits in the hall with Shaw, not just 2. Look above Shaw's head in the enhanced photo in this link:

Filmophilia-Here is an excerpt from Ridley Scott's discussion, "Therefore, who is that, inside that [Space Jockey] suit? That wasn’t a skeleton, that was a suit. And if you open up the suit, what do you get inside it? And why were they going, where were they going?"
I suppose it's as good a place to store the boimechanical suits as any. (Reminds me of a castle with suits of armor in the halls). Do the suits in the hallway already have sleeping occupants? Unlikely since there are what appear to be stasis chambers in the SJ room already. So if the suits are empty, where will their occupants come from?
If the SJ (humanoid) shown in the trailer by the empty chair is too small to reach the chair's controls, will he be able to once he's inside the much larger suit?
How many stasis chambers are there vs. how many "survivors" (and I use that word loosely) from Prometheus?

MemberOvomorph01/23/2012Heh, if we look like the SJs because they made us in their image, and they are irredemably evil beings..... that would go a long way in explaining human history, and make a mockery of every imaginary monster we've ever created, in attempting to convince ourselves that we aren't monstrous.
You don't get that particular irony, if the SJs look like "scary monsters." Anyway, whatever they end up looking like, it's really what they've done and what they do, that matters.....having said that, I have a feeling that the big blue dude in the trailer will look more than Giger-freaky enough, up-close.....even if it turns out that he isn't an SJ. ;)

MemberOvomorph01/24/2012Lame comparison but I'm assuming the SJ suits are similar to those aliens of Independence Day, biomechanical of some kind?? Kind of fused into the SJ itself, would be the best and most viable kinda suit to have when going planet to planet. . .

MemberOvomorph01/24/2012If the engineers are going to be viewed as our Creators / Gods - and God created us in His own image, well I'd halfway expect that they should be human looking - if this is where Ripley is going with this story - and it looks that way - then I'd be very disappointed if the SJ's didn't appear human. That's not to say I like the whole idea, I think the SJ's had a lot of potential to be pretty creepy if the way we see it in Alien was it's true form.
I agree with you LyleP - that concept was way too advanced for the rest of the movie. LOL!
