So...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?

I have been waiting for this movie from this director for 15 years plus and if time travel is part of the plot...so help me, I don't quite know how I'll react. I'll be more disappointed in Ridley than I can honestly express. Time travel is such an over used, trite concept.....we honestly believe they can't come up with better? There are so many examples out there, 'Prometheus' would come off a silly, lazy, laughable waste.......I mean, I go straight to 'Sphere' when anyone brings up the idea and while that was a decent novel and the movie was just ok, it's been done.....a small crew investigates an unknown craft, vessel or establishment in a dangerous environment; encounters alien technology and ultimately learns the ship is human and from the future. 'Prometheus' would be 'Sphere', only that what they find would be off world and would somehow transport them........and the whole thing just leaves an awful taste in my mouth; like I've been sucking on pennies or something...eww.... Somebody....please....tell me I'm not off base with my ire and disgust here............[b]PLEASE[/b]

And yet, you have a crew that has traveled to a place that would never allow for their return back to their original time. It is what it is. You don't have to call it time travel if you don't want to--technically, it's time dilation, but you also can't ignore that this is the box opened when you start talking about FTL. Should I assume everyone rejecting this as reality believes the Prometheus is a one way mission? And that isn't silly? Regardless, I guess I don't consider it lazy, but, if done right, inspired and, dare I say it, intriguing. Enjoy the movie, folks.
