I'm very curious to see some of your guys ideas for the progenitor we've heard about. There are a few points I'd like to purpose for discussion.
[u]Infection[/u]
-will it be similar to what we know already i.e embryo implantment from something like a facehugger?
-will it be more of an infection that takes over the hosts body and controls it?
-will it be through "human transmission" i.e shaw sleeps with holloway after he is infected by something similar to the second point and impregnates shaw with the actual creature.
[u]Birth[/u]
-will it be similar to the chestbursting we already know?
-will it be a more "human" birth i.e shaw gives birth to some horrible creature through here existing reproductive system.
-will Ridley have something completely different?
[u]Lifecycle[/u]
-Will it have an accelerated Lifecycle and grow/mature rapidly?
-will it just be born large with no "larva" stage to speak of?
I hope this doesn't get locked I'm very interested to see your opinions and get some new ideas. I appreciate your time and I hope you enjoy.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 1:28 PMHR Giger was closely involved with the design work in the Species movies and it seemed to me there were ideas/themes he got to expand on there that the original Alien didn't have time or budget for. Having said that, I hope Ridley carefully researched those, if only to be sure and do something very distinct.

I especially liked the cocoon idea on the train.

On an entirely different tangent. What if (big one here - stay with me) the entire cave/egg chamber explored by Kane was once itself alive? Ridley once expressed his fascination, in a bonus feature somewhere, with old Oxford Scientific footage of a tiny wasp, that would detect movement of a grub (larva) inches below the bark of a tree. It would produce a probiscis several times its own body length and drill down below the surface to implant its seed inside the grub which would then become a host. The surface of LV426 was designed to appear organic (or was at least built to resemble a landscape of massive bones and body parts). So, what if this is what happens when the small world ITSELF is "impregnated?" Or am I letting my imagination get too epic in scale?

I loved that too, it looked awesome as well, a lot, but no, I downloaded 3 of the films in the series and watched them all without any background info on the franchise...But agin, I loved Mike Madsen, and the Lady from CSI, and the chemestry between them in the 2nd one.

may be an 'essence' like airborne mist that causes all the mayhem in Prometheus. It'll be fascinating to see something along the lines of a Giger serpent as a progenitor, and not a recognisable humanoid shaped creature. Question is, where will everything combine, confuse and tie in to create a Giger apparition? Cannot wait to see the 'Gods'.
I hope it raises more tantalising questions.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 4:44 PM I think we'll see a whole new monster that give rise to the facehugger or perhaps the pre-facehugger. In fact Ridley Scott stated that Prometheus we are moving backwards and not forward (even if it's a prequel to "Alien the eighth passenger").
Although who knows, maybe rescue the life cycle of the original Alien, 1979, where victims are brought into a cocoon that turn into eggs.
While on the other hand maybe the parasite's small trailer will be filtering something like a facehugger or Pre-Chestburster ... but surely will have more connection with the ampoules, the container of that greenish-yellow liquid, the liquid may has its own life as a parasite (ok sounds pretty silly but who knows) that seeps into the skin or helmets with an agility sinister and very likely that this greenish liquid substance is the true biological weapons, and monsters resulting single or concecuencia impact of this weapon.

I honestly think this our progenitor at a very early, simplistic stage. It's obviously parasitic and while I think we may even see more creatures than this, it's likely, this thing, is a strong and logical plausible candidate for our progenitor....

MemberOvomorphFeb-29-2012 1:12 AMYes, im pretty sure it's suppsoedly the SJ helm laying outside the ampoules room. The same one being studied by Shaw and whichever other crew memeber that is perhaps.
Seems a pretty early attack though as i dont think theyve found the jockeys or their homeworld yet. i think this scene is on mars where they find the start map and such which leads them on their real mission.
