Prometheus Derelict Theory & Alien 3.5

Okay, i have just had an idea, a theory, while sat on the throne (its where I do my best thinking) that may or may not appear in Prometheus, but either way it should start some interesting and intelligent discussions. This will take a while so bear with me... I recently started a thread about some screenplays I am working on FOUND HERE (after turning MY ALIEN V into a screenplay) including the likes of AVP3, Alien V (a rewrite), Predator 4/Predators 2 and Terminator V & VI. My good friend and fellow staff member Sparky (Spartacus) PM'ed me saying he would be interested in my ideas of a story set between Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Well, I started thinking on this and came up with the conclusion that for originality in the franchise the last thing we would want is for Weyland-Yutani to keep returning to LV-426 to attempt to gather specimens of the Xenomorph. Using this as a stepping off point I have come up with the following premise... 2212 (approximately 30 years after the events of Alien 3) With the acquistion of the ghost ship the USS Sulaco Weyland-Yutani are finally able to send a military protected R&D vessel to LV-426, under the premise of discovering the true nature as to why the primary atmosphere processor went thermonuclear, with protection in case Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley's testimony of a deadly alien race was true. Upon arriving at LV-426 the group is split into two teams; team one study the damage to the primary atmosphere processor and the status of the two extra atmosphere processors (it was Jim Cameron's original idea to have three, not one AP's), while team two study the Derelict spacecraft. As team one survey the damage to AP1, and ascertain that AP2 and AP3 are still functional, team two enter the Derelict to find the dead pilot gone. Furthermore, upon checking the cargo hold of the alien vessel they discover all of the eggs have gone. While team two study the vacant pilots chair one of the members (lets call them Sore Finger) cuts themselves, their blood landing within the chair. Unseen by anyone the blood is absorbed into the chair. As the story progresses Sore Finger starts to experience strange dreams and hallucinations while ate the same time strange happenings occur upon the Derelict - crew members feeling tired and sick, headaches, dizziness. At first this is attributed to lack of oxygen but it continues to occur even when the crew use spacesuits. When Sore Finger starts acting irrationally the crew really become anxious, but not because of Sore Finger's behaviour, because the Derelicts "Hammerhead" prong has repaired itself and the Derelict is slowly but surely beginning to look less, well less derelict and more functional. With Sore Fingers behaviour leading to a few deaths earlier in the story the character is locked up, but able to escape they stow aboard the derelict and enter the chair, triggering a very painful and disturbing transformation scene as the character is stretched to fill the seat and becomes one with a fresh, new Space Jockey suit. The derelict then breathes back into life and, now fully repaired ascends and leaves LV-426. In developing this idea for an Alien 3.5 (without any actually Aliens) I had developed a theory regarding the Derelict and its Pilot... I imagined the Derelict as a symbiotic parasite that requires a living host/pilot to survive, much in the same way as with a Chestburster. But whereas the Chestburster gestates within its host to develop, the Derelict requires a living host within itself to function, to live. Without an internal host the Derelict dies but can resurrect itself (much like Frank Cotton in Clive Barker's Hellraiser) should a new host become available. Could this be what we will see in Prometheus, do you like the theory, do you like my Alien 3.5 (and of course feel free to check the other two threads linked earlier in this post). Another version of an Alien 3.5 could be... Set just before the fall of Weyland-Yutani, the primary site of a colony ran by another Corporation that is in competition with Weyland-Yutani receives a change of guard - a fresh batch of colonial marines relieves the ones already providing security for the colony. As the switch-over is made and fresh supplies are dropped off the Colonial freighter departs, returning the relieved marines to Earth. The Colony is on a planet not too dis-similar to a prehistoric Earth, filled with many species of indigenous flora and fauna. As night time falls a strange effect occurs throughout the colonies three sites, loss of communications and static, but it shortly passes. As this occurs a W-Y employee that arrived with the marines is revealed to be a mole for the Corporation running the colony that has gathered a wealth of info on W-Y's illegal practices and cover-ups, including LV-426, the Alien, the Space Jockeys and the truth about mans origins (Prometheus). Realising they cannot raise the other two sites of their colony the Primary colony orders teams to investigate. When they do not return they recon the sites and witness vast Alien hives spread throughout the area, slowly encrouching around the Primary site... Thats all I have at the minute, I will edit this post when I think of the rest.

Both are filled with incredible ideas, and like I said in any finished, and fully polished script attempt I want tosee a LOT about the Company, the Politics, what it stands for played out through some new characters as well as old ones. I also think an entire chumk of this culd involve the Derelict "Morphing" into some additional thing as well...very nice that whole possibility there.

Def seeing the people who are pulling the strings in the company would be nice. To know more backstory of who they are and who knew...always a great concept.
