MemberOvomorphMar-04-2012 4:11 PMRemember that we dont know what was Spaihts Script ... "Alien harvester" was fan made ,not from Spaihts ( and he confirmed that ).
If i dont remember wrong someone said that Spahits script was too ambitious and Lindelof was called in to shape everything in a more marketable way .

MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 9:35 AMI read the fake script and loved almost all of it, actually feel those that did not, and it was almost everyone, was just being homophobic. The ideas presented in even the fake script I thought were terriffic. That said Frantz is right on the money, we just don't know what his actual script was...I would have loved to have actually read it but what I read as Frantz stated and Spaiths himself confirmed for me was actually a fake by more than likely as Spaiths put it, "an aspiring yet failing screen writer"... or something pretty close to that.

MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 9:42 AMDo people really want to see the script before they see the film though sparty i for one dont.

Wow alteredstate, you will be doing a LOT of reading. There's so much speculation here (and I too am guilty of it), that I'm not even sure what is real or speculation anymore.

MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 10:49 AMeven i have contributed to that aintnozeno but there is plenty of time to sift through after the event, i am not saying i will get through it all but a fair amount to give a rough consensus on peoples ideas will be fun.

MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 2:27 PMI did read it. But I think I see what you're saying. I didn't realize people kept making homophobic references to the sex scene. Still, what didn't make sense to me about the initial sex/rape scene was that it was implied that the grower/engineer made or suggested the two males engage in the act. I'm not sure why the grower/engineer would do that...? Surely the highly advanced grower would know that the mating of these two specimens of that particular species (human) would not be fruitful due to their genders. Unless the grower/engineers have alternative motives hidden in their forced mating practices.
And honestly, I didn't like the small "alien ant farm". Not saying it was a bad idea...i just don't like it.

MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 2:34 PMMy thinking was it was some sort of morbid desire to have them domesticate themselves so they would no longer feel a need to Escape.

MemberOvomorphMar-05-2012 2:12 PMDid you read that script? oops my bad re-read what you wrote and see that you did.
never the less, it had several homosexual scenes in it. I am a heterosexual. I could understand why so many people were upset but none of them gave any reasons other than stuff like..."what's wiht the gay scenes" or "I didnlt like it cause the actors were ____ " you get my meaning I am sure. Noone said anything about how fabulosu some of the ideas in that fake script were like us finding the very origin of the XENOS int heir most infant an tiniest form...and the whole idea of the Engineer's and the Grunts with the Scythes and and the Humans over seeing their work despite their being 50 times larger than a regular Space Jockey...
To me it will filled to the brim with exciting scenes.
Sadly all anyone said was how oput off they werre by the homosexuality in it.
I thought it made sense and was tactfully done.

OK...seriously Sparky? Why would you feel that those that didn't like the script were "homophobic". Why would you even imply that? Did I happen to miss a massive community back lash of posters saying things like "wow that script is disgusting because it has gay sex" ? (Not sure anyone here has said that...then again, maybe I missed it?)
I, for one, did not like the fake (Alien Harvest) script and am not Homophobic. I think that script could have made for a nice episode of the Twilight Zone/outer limits. But it didn't feel ...i dunno, like a major motion picture. It feels more like "straight-to-DVD" Sci-fi story. And my opinion has nothing to do with the sexual orientation of the characters.
Now, I do agree with you that the actual original Spaiths' script likely remains a secret to the general fanbase. That's why the tweet depicted int he first post can be true...

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMar-06-2012 4:54 AMJust reading it now, thanks @Werthers Original for the link. It's different, and I may have to read it over again before I start to get it, but I'm liking what I see. It has context for the homosexuality in it so that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I wonder how much of it is real, if at all........... Still a good read at any rate ;-)
