MemberOvomorphMarch 08, 20122801 Views36 RepliesThe spheres in the background have a pulse like the human heart. Periodically they all jump up and down together. I think the white spheres are the cybernetic blood drops that flow through David's veins. The darker spheres are human blood drops. The question is: why are the mixed together?

A bit of lateral thinking on this instead of thinking about Davids blood or DNA being added to a human you should probably think the other way around if Bladerunner is anything to go by.
If david was made human from cybernetic organism by the space jockeys he would essentially trangress to becoming a god himself as Humans are his creator. How about that as an off the wall idea.
While humans are questioning the nature of their creators the Space Jockeys.... David might very well question his own human creators too... He would probably desire to be human afterall. I think you can expect alot of parrallels between what the Humans go through and what David is going to go through himself
Replicants always desired to be human so I think that this is a possible plot line and might help tie blade runner tie to prometheus if word got out about a android that became human it would have a profound effect on androids that they could become more than what they are.
even though humans do not possess the technology

@Ronster: I like the idea of the Space Jockeys' bio-gel transforming David into a human. Does this mean David retains the same abilities he had when he was a cybernetic individual? If he does become human, he could, in theory, mate with a human female, like Shaw, for instance. That would explain the hump in Shaw's stomach in the leaked trailers.
March 09, 2012
now I never thought of that but good call... Perhaps Shaw does become pregnant to david... It would seem though it gets aborted (the birth) I don't think we'll be there for 9 months but if accelerated growth is in play like the xeno's then it's possible...
So many different angles to speculate upon but if I was going to write a script I know I would want to explore the Android wanting to be Human especially as we are going to meet the creators of Mankind aswell...
Stories become their own beasts and end up writing themselves y'know so I think we can expect the plot to pivot on davids cybernetic make-up atleast quite dramatically somehow but what it is for sure who knows?
@Nephelim LV426
Yes your picture does look familiar I could not place it until just now

I wonder if the white and black spheres mean that David impregnates Shaw after all? This is out of left field but: David is played by a German actor Micheal Fassbinder. His hair is blond. David, a cybernetic individual, has white blood. Did Peter Weyland consciously design David this way to reflect his desire for an ubermensch? White skin, blue eyes, blond hair, white blood - if an Aryan ubermensch doesn't exist naturally, would we make one ourselves?
as a JEW, I wuld be wildly offended if that were the case. I am unhappy enough the past 50+ years attributing deisres ike those to the Nazis & Adolph Hitler. I'd hate to think they were borrowed from some Alien type encounter and then repeated years into our future.

@Spartacus: As a gentile who tries to tolerate all religions and cultures, I acknowledge that my speculation is potentially offensive. I certainly hope that my theory never pans out. I am not suggesting that David and his appearance comes from an Alien encounter. But, it seems like Ridley, et al, is using the stereotype of the "perfect man" as having white skin, blue eyes, blond hair and a Caucasian appearance. And if a powerful, egotistical person like Peter Weyland designs a cybernetic individual with those traits, and then takes it one step further by making the "blood" of the android white? Why not green, orange or even red? I guess the classes I took on Hitler and the Nazi regime are making my mind reach where it shouldn't.

Nietzsche was not racist and he philosophized the term Ubermensh see below.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Cbermensch
actually I never even heard of this term before but It does make reference to Also Zach Zaruthrustra (2001) Alien was heavily inspired by this movie I would not take the mention of ubermesch as the racist term that it obviously became more widely known but for what it originally is by Nietzsche the great philosopher.
He strongly opposed anti-semitism BTW read the wiki. But now that you mention it I think It is perhaps another clue unravelled rennouncement of God if humans are your god and you become one of them but yet have great abilities then this term would suit David after his transgression to being human
Although... see this
Nietzsche introduces the concept of the Übermensch in contrast to the other-worldliness of Christianity: Zarathustra proclaims the Übermensch to be the meaning of the earth and admonishes his audience to ignore those who promise other-worldly hopes in order to draw them away from the earth.[3][4] The turn away from the earth is prompted, he says, by a dissatisfaction with life, a dissatisfaction that causes one to create another world in which those who made one unhappy in this life are tormented. The Übermensch is not driven into other worlds away from this one.
Zarathustra ties the Übermensch to the death of God. While this God was the ultimate expression of other-worldly values and the instincts that gave birth to those values, belief in that God nevertheless did give meaning to life for a time. 'God is dead' means that the idea of God can no longer provide values. With the sole source of values no longer capable of providing those values, there is a real chance of nihilism prevailing.
Zarathustra presents the Übermensch as the creator of new values. In this way, it appears as a solution to the problem of the death of God and nihilism. If the Übermensch acts to create new values within the moral vacuum of nihilism, there is nothing that this creative act would not justify. Alternatively, in the absence of this creation, there are no grounds upon which to criticize or justify any action, including the particular values created and the means by which they are promulgated.
So David when becoming Human would Give up his God (Humans) thus being a Niahilist as he would be better than human in many ways than we could hope to be... he might feel role reversal and that humans should worship him Just some thoughts

I was making a clean point and not at all crying that anyone was being racist...As an intelligent free thinking JEW I find the whole idea wildly offensive but I am not offended by you guys at all I know you are just tkaing part nan intillectual discussion about this...I just think of this entire idea of a master race, even if a ROBOT were to think of it or ANDROID if you will, to be VERY SMALL MINDED INDEED !!! Let alone how incredibly small minded it would be of any human to even think of buying into this nothing less than insane theory.

@sparty Thats where I think if David does become "Ubermensch" as Nietzsche originally puts it across then he does not really think it out but simply becomes it even if by accident or by intent by the SJ's
Ok his character will become Ubermensch after his morph
I think this might be somthing to start thinking about as the theory deals with religeous beliefs in a profound way and prometheus will be much about religeon in general as it is about everything Godlike.
March 09, 2012
@Ronster: Maybe that's why Peter Weyland (I'm assuming it's Peter), names the Prometheus' cybernetic individual "David"? Like David from the Old Testament?
Perhaps Peter chooses David to accompany him to the Space Jockey world like God chose David in the Bible?

Let's not forget David and Goliath either.

fabulous Point Ronser, I agree with that...also, Nietzsche was an incredible THINKER, but I also think Religion, in light of the "AA" theory, if anything, will be portrayed as a Petty, Devisive man made Invention which badly and irresponisbly represents beliefs born of mans FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN and the inability to explain certain things. Religion has done, HAS accomplished one and only one truly tangeable thing since all of it's inception...it has divided mankind into groups. Seperated all of us and celebrated our differences when what man kind has always needed most was for all of us to celebrate our similarities...And Nietzsche more than any other living person I think, was always accutely aware of this.
March 09, 2012
One way to get all mankind to drop there religeous beliefs and stand together would be an invasion by aliens of the planet... This has always been theorized when a greater threat rears it's head it's only then as humans we truly show our strengths.
@Greatboosup I like the thought of david and goliath but this would suggest that David is the one to overthrough the SJ's also so perhaps both are not possible but perhaps he becomes quite confused and decides to go after the SJ's because he becomes unhappy with his new self there are countless possibilities and we'll have to wait and see but....
not only does he decide to renounce his own god (humans) but the humans God and his new creator also truly niahilistic behaviour which is suggested in the theory he would view that as the ultimate way to get at his creators by destroying theirs aswell perhaps
But I think we have hit a target on this speculation exactly how who knows

@Ronster,
I heard they recently cast Will Smith and Bill Pullman to make cameos in Prometheus. Bill Pullman gives a spirited speech standing in the back of a truck or something.

Bill Pullmen =Lost Highway vs Will Smith = errr Men in Black maybe
stop your grinnin and drop your linen we're on an express elevator to hell going dowwwwnnnn
March 09, 2012
Haha, I was thinking Independence Day for both of them. Re: your comment about humanity coming together against the alienz. But Tommy Lee Jones/Will Smith from MIB would work, too!

Remember, the final form of the xenomorph has metallic inner jaws...how does that fit in with an originally organic form? ...unless it was introduced early on by something / someone / cybernetic? Does David have metallic parts?
In addition to the Biblical notion for picking the name David - which I like by the way - there is another reason...
"The androids' names in the Alien films follow an alphabetical pattern: in Alien it's Ash, in Aliens and Alien³ it's Bishop, in Alien: Resurrection it's Call and in this film it's David."

Do you want more tie-ins with the Alien lines...?
