Parallels to the Myth?

The Greek myth has Prometheus (whose name signifies "fore thought") entrusted with the task of creating humankind. He comes to love his creation, and in an effort to improve their lives, steals fire from Zeus' lightning and gifts it to man, teaching them its uses.
In an elaboration of the myth (by Aeschylus), Zeus desires to exterminate the entire race of man, and replace it with a new race of beings. Prometheus, driven by his love for mankind, foils Zeus' scheme, and saves humans from destruction by "depriving them of their knowledge of the future, and giving them hope instead."
Part of the myth also involves Prometheus' brother Epimetheus who, disregarding his brother's advice, entreats Pandora to "lift the lid of a vessel from which diseases and sufferings of every kind now issued forth, but deceitful hope alone remained behind..."
How do you think Scott and Lindelof may weave these elements into the film? How will Zeus and Prometheus be manifested? Will there be a "preferred" race of beings? What will be the "gift" of Prometheus?
Lots of food for thought, so let loose the discussion (and put that steaming pile-of-shit of a fake script out of your mind)....
