It's not a face hugger

If you look closely at the screen cap from the med pod scene that thing is hanging over her gut, you can tell this since that arc the thing is hanging from is even with her elbow. There is also an umbilical cord hanging from the alien that goes right to her bloody stomach. There is also blood splattered everywhere, indicating it just came out of her.
Then the definitive proof, we see her later on, with a row of staples across her stomach. You can also see the huge blood stain at her waist line under her belly.
So... its a chest (gut) burster... not a face hugger. I think the face hugging is probably done by those small worms in this movie.

On the blood issue, it's actually a very common misconception that blood is blue while on the inside of your body. In actuality, it's closer to a very dark red color.
As to why the color is changed in the trailer, it's likely just a censorship issue, as has been mentioned before. There's a pretty blatant example of it in the old trailer for the first Resident Evil movie, where they changed the blood color of one of the characters to blue.
In regards to the original post (apologies for going so off-topic!), I used to think it was some weird type of facehugger being dangled over her head, but there's no arguing with the pictures. The idea of that thing bursting out of your gut almost makes me queasy. ;-;

Atropa,
I'm not trolling, but what you did clearly is. I asked a question about censorship and I got an answer. You had an ignorant personal remark about my blood trying to move it into a personal field, right after that so being that I was "agressively defending" what I said and you coming back with a remark when Snorks got my back. For starters don't argue with the Snorks when it comes to trolling you will lose. We are fair about what goes on in these forums. I'll make this your first warning. Second warning results in a 3 days posting suspension followed by your acct being banned with any subsequent uncalled for posts of a personal nature. You seem like a smart guy. If you have any questions regarding this PM me and we'll figure it out.
Regards,
Rick

Sorry Rick, but it looks as though we may have to live under a bridge after all. Check this excerpt from when i looked up blood on Wiki...
Color
Hemoglobin
"Hemoglobin is the principal determinant of the color of blood in vertebrates. Each molecule has four haem groups, and their interaction with various molecules alters the exact color. In vertebrates and other hemoglobin-using creatures, arterial blood and capillary blood are bright red, as oxygen imparts a strong red color to the haem group. Deoxygenated blood is a darker shade of red; this is present in veins, and can be seen during blood donation and when venous blood samples are taken. Blood in carbon monoxide poisoning is bright red, because carbon monoxide causes the formation of carboxyhemoglobin. In cyanide poisoning, the body cannot utilize oxygen, so the venous blood remains oxygenated, increasing the redness. While hemoglobin-containing blood is never blue, there are several conditions and diseases wherein the color of the heme groups make the skin appear blue. If the heme is oxidized, methaemoglobin, which is more brownish and cannot transport oxygen, is formed. In the rare condition sulfhemoglobinemia, arterial hemoglobin is partially oxygenated, and appears dark red with a bluish hue (cyanosis).
Veins in the skin appear blue for a variety of reasons only weakly dependent on the color of the blood. Light scattering in the skin, and the visual processing of color play roles as well."
"Skinks in the genus Prasinohaema have green blood due to a buildup of the waste product biliverdin."

Blood is never blue. Unoxygenated, it is a very dull brownish-red (as that found in veins). When well oxygenated, blood is a very bright head (like blood circulating in arteries). I am a phlebotomist.

Depending on when and how the trailer was captured and transferred etc i cant see there being a censorship issue as american's are not that anal in censorship.
I suspect it could be a gamma calibration correction or like the difference between ntsc and pal where there are definite colour and contrast discrepancies .
The latter is less likely but its something like that, not censorship i think.
On closer inspection between the uk and international / usa trailer the light is darker in one of the images as well i think its a technical issue nothing more.

The baby savers might revolt they saw this trailer at their local harry potter screening.
I came to this thread for the facehugger/chestburster discussion, although the "Blood Feud" proved much more interesting (calling staff members trolls was priceless). Anyway...
The story so far...(speculation)...Holoway get's infected, balls Shaw, and Vickers demands operation on Shaw to extract specimen...Shaw wakes up when all hell is braking loose on the ship....Vickers bails out in the escape pod....
That would be it except we see the two of them on the ground when the ships are crushing around them, so again, it's all speculation.

The blood censorship was seen in two older threads, here is one:

Well its a little bit daft then when you consider the events leading up to this moment will be viewed by american audiences . Are we supposed to believe that blood is not associated with the birth/Cesarean Section process lol.
I can understand it if its attached to a u film or pg audience related film but that's the only reason i can think of for the censorship discrepancy. The film itself will be identical to what we have here in the uk i think the planets a global village these days and we can purchase the films anywhere when they become available to buy so it makes no sense to impose censorship on western countries as most films now are region free distribution on blu ray etc .
In the past i bought american dvd's and had a region free player simply because the extra features on a lot of american discs were much better or the sound was dts where the uk version was only dolby digital but on all of those occasions the film itself was the same. Now when i buy blue rays they are nearly all region free discs.

lol 2 trolls still trying to get my attention thats sad. *try getting girlfriends* looks like they scraped the bottom of the barrel for some of the staff, too bad too, the rest of them act like adults.
anywhoooo about the blood and Csection topic altered meantioned, i would much rather see that then the natural human birth prossess, bleh!
i have seen a lot of aliens and monsters born from human women in B movies but i dont think they have ever shown it done C section syle.
still disturbing but much less gross in my book :)
they love censoring blood in the USA, most of the anime's ive seen on daytime tv have had all of the blood completely erased, and if blood comes out of someones mouth they re-draw it to look like spit.
blood bad, a big flemmy loogey is just fine.
i miss living in england :/

Hey Snorks,
Looks like we were wrong on the color of blood. I have always thought it was blue after it was deoxygenated, I learned something new today. Oh by the way FYI, Atropa is experiencing a 3 day vacation, he was warned. So with that said was my bad on the color of blood guys. I'm allowed to be wrong once in awhile, its hard being perfect....just kiddin.....think that's Sparky where ever he may be...LOL
