@Ghost Solitare I would probably be following you shortly after!! I think we're putting a little too much importance on Weyland. I don't think he turns into a space jokey. We don't even now if he's coming along for the ride. If he does he would surely be desperate to inject himself with alien goo without any real understanding about what it does. It does sound like something he would do though knowing the kind of egotistical character he is. I'm still of the opinion that now one turns into a Jockey and if they do certainly not Weyland.

Not possible. Weyaland dead. That his descendent, not him. He died in AVP 1. AVP 1 Weyland cooler than the current one.

Could be worse. Given the choice of writer they could have the derelict go through a wormhole and go back in time to ancient Earth so that it turns out that Weyland himself created all life on Earth. Cringeworthy stuff.

I've pretty much relegated to myself that Weyland is the space jockey we see. On paper is sound like shit, but a lot of stories on paper sound awful and turn interesting via style it is done in.

The website of Weyland does not mention the dead of it's founder. No, I'm quite certain he's on the ship (old bald guy). And BTW: AVP != canon.

Scariest part is there are people CLINGING to AvP as being part of canon.; Why? god only knows. I found both of them to be beyond unwatchable. AvP:R is still the worst movie ever made.
