Mutated Human into Space Jockey - Come on!

Spacey Man
MemberOvomorphMarch 23, 2012945 Views14 RepliesI don't get all these mutated human into SJ theories. How would the mutated human know how to fly the SJ ship and use its technology? I don't think this is realistic.
I think we'll see mutations and the mutations will be those that eventually lead to a xenomorph. We won't see the classic xenomorph but probably it's stooped over 'grandfather' - even Idris Elba alluded to this in an interview.

I believe some people are suggesting that maybe in the mutation, certain characteristics allow the person being mutated, carry the knowledge of the engineer race. Those being carried in whatever causes the mutation.

I also agree with Spacey man.
I believe that SJ came out the opened sarcophagus. You can clearly see that sarcophagus is open in scene where SJ is walking up to cannon looking thing.

Its possible but very unlikely I feel that the human turns into a Space Jockey. But yes, its possible, well anything is possible until the movie is released right?

If there are humans mutating into a SJ i will leave the theater, no way i am going to watch the movie if that is the case...

Evolution and creation are words tossed out by the filmmakers. I imagine those concepts are layered more liberally than most people think. There is a reason why the marketing has continually discussed the creation of an android and how that redefines creator and created.
Can you create your own evolution? Create your own destruction?

I'm with you Spacey Man. I don't like the idea of humans mutating into Space Jokey's either. For me it would be a cheap and lazy story telling device - I think Ridley and Damon are much better than this. I know this is sci-fi and that the limits are bound only by the fertile imagination of the writers but I've always classed Alien/Aliens and Alien 3 as hard sci-fi so the whole idea of one sentient species mutating into another is just a bit lame.
Role on the 1st of June so all these questions can be answered.

But its clear that the humans are turning into something - my money is on a proto-type xenomorph. The figure standing over Shaw at the end is too small to be a SJ. In some form of ironic twist it'll probably be Holloway.

The humans mutating into Jockey's would be too much. You end up with the problem that the Jockey in Alien would essentially be a mutated earth human then, which really sucks. I'm completely against that ending, and most likely we're not gonna see the imagined derelict- LV-426 ending happen, Lindelof has even stated this.
We know some people turn into mutants so maybe some others do get infected in a similar way? However, even if they resemble the genetic masters in some way, or whatever pops out of Shaw, they aren't becoming gods, They're becoming monsters. I think we're gonna see some of the crew benefit from the infection and find that they can do battle with the monsters and engineers. "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster". Weyland's staring into the abyss.
@Famishad That's good stuff. I think the creator will be undone by his creation in more than a few ways in this movie. I think David will become a major player on Shaw and Vicker's side at the end and will take down the Weyland mutant and allow them to have a chance in the final fight against the engineer.

Best post I've ever read on this forum. I really like this idea. Makes a lot of sense. In the TED video Weyland talks about becoming gods once we can create life. It seems likely this will be a big theme, if not the main theme, of the film.

yer, i don't believe the whole human into SJ thing. yes they will mutate into something, or go insane (or both in steps) but in the trailer the probe detected another life form so i think that is the SJ, and the talk of other, worse creatures well maybe the SJ is the last survivor of something, because you see or have seen bodies of SJ which the crew analyse on a table in a scene.

I think people are really going overboard with this whole mutation theory thing. First people assume that because Mohawk man mutated partly into a monster that people are just going to mutate whole-hog into Engineers.
Just like the whole "Alien DNA" thing, I think people find a picture, a clip, and sometimes not even that, and they run with it on all these crazy theories. People are seeing what they want to see, even if there's nothing to bolster their imagination.
I expect some kind of parasitic involvement and I'm not too sure of anything beyond that.

I'm interested to see how they explain the OBVIOUS size difference between the old SJ and the new one in the trailer. If they're hoping no-one will notice I'll be a little insulted. But I'll probably get over it.
