MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 7:48 AMHow about we all join forces, get a big number of Yes's to an R rated version. Roll the fucker up, and stick it up those anodyne suits asses at FOX?
All those in favour of an R rated Prometheus movie - Dark, unnerving, harrowing and perverse.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 7:54 AMI'm in. I want a real horror film with alot of scare and bloody moments!

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 7:54 AMIt deserves R rating for the c-section theme alone and there might be more to come.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 7:55 AMHow about we all cross our fingers and toes and just hope for a GREAT STORY, with INCREDIBLE CINEMATOGRAPHY, and some truly MIND BENDING A-HAH MOMENTS and not give a rats arszz if Sly Stallone or Jason Statham is in this?

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 7:57 AMI just want strictly adult.com - DO NOT want 10 year old kids in the cinema whilst I submerse myself into this dark future shock....FUCK PG 13

Frantz
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:03 AMITs not an R that make a movie strictly adult .... Rob Zombie , hostel and the various torture porn are surely not for adults but products for horny teens ( or middle age never grown horny teens ) ...are usually the 17 years old ( not everyone of course )that want to see sex , perversion and rape , not surely the "adults" .

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:10 AMI don't think this movie is going to be for the "It's only good if it has sex, blood & guts" crowd. As long as it's a good movie I could give a shit whether it's got an R rating or not.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:08 AMTheres that C-Section thing again. Is a C-Section confirmed in the movie?
I do know that Shaw attacks 2 crew members that are wearing bio hazard suits. She wakes up on a table and clobbers one of them with a blunt object presumably before they force her into the glass pod with the grapple.
But i dont know there is deffinatley a C-Section that everyone keeps talking about.
Rather than taking the creature out of her.....perhaps they are trying to insert it into her.
Perhaps this....perhaps that.....we`ll know for sure in 70 days wont we lol.
The only thing that upsets me is that Sir Ridley has already seen this movie before me lol

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:14 AMIm definitely in. The guys who say that rated R wouldnt improve the movie or whatever dont know what theyre talking about to be honest.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:18 AMI agree that rating is not so important, so let's sign a petition making Fox re-film the movie if it ends up as crappy as Cowboys vs Aliens (one of the Lindelof's masterpieces)

want-to-see-prometheusNOW!
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:21 AMIf it's good, it's good, but I still prefer an R rating. Let me know when it's time to sign the petition. I mean it.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:26 AMI could care less if it is R or PG-13. I'm not desensitized to the point where more and more gore is needed to deem a film worth watching. The characters, cool/scary concepts, and tension is what makes an Alien movie great.

The High Priest
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:31 AMcej - i disagree - R isnt just about blood and gore. It can be implied content that is so intense and disturbing that you couldnt possibly engage such information with a brain as young as 13.
Get past the PG 13 can still be scary and tense. Its diet horror. I want an adult film, and Im NOT talking about a Hostel blood fest.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:33 AMOK now, i really need to ask. What does an R rating emply anyway?

The High Priest
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:44 AMHard violence, disturbing dark imagery, strong scenes of a sexual nature, generaly content that should most certainly NOT be consumed by a minor.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:44 AMIf we think back to Alien, the violence in there(except for the chestburster scene) was quite tolerable. What really made Alien an R-rated film was the language. Also, if Prometheus was really violent, there would have been talk of an NC-17 rating(i.e. Robocop). So, I'm of the belief that Prometheus would be rated R, mostly due to the language, combined with violence and as cej mentioned, "cool/scary concepts, the characters and tension." But, in the end, regardless of whatever rating the MPAA gives this film, I'm going to watch it just because it's another great creation by Ridley Scott.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:48 AMdoesn't an R rating seem to make some movies more attractive then?
i mean, i mean, not in the case of prometheus, but a bad movie, give it a "adult " rating, and kids will even try harder to watch it, i would.

Frantz
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 9:57 AMStrong scenes of sexual nature ?? Who cares to have strong scenes of sexual nature in a sci fi horror movie ?? They will just distract from the overall plot .
( and we are talking of the director with probably LESS scenes of sexual nature in the history of filmaking ... )

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 10:19 AMI agree kinda from both points of view, but I still believe this movie independently "because of what it's a prequel to," Should Be R Rated For content that belongs in this type of movie to do the series justice as being one of the most horrifying movie experiences of all time...

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 10:38 AMI think I'll stick with others' opinions that they should release both an R and PG-13 version in theaters. I don't see why Fox wouldn't do such a thing, though I don't think movies are often released like this, possibly due to budgetary excuses or something.
If they release both types, I'll go to the R-rated version, because I believe that by being rated R the movie will provide the "maximum effect", whatever it will be. A movie doesn't have to be bloody & gory to be rated R. The PG-13 version would just be something open to a larger audience, though it makes me think that they're trying to "pass something on to the new generation", kind of like what they're doing with The Expendables 2 by rating it PG-13, but that's just my opinion, and I have a rather low opinion of the next generation, but I won't go there.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 2:39 PMA petition has already been started. I've signed both. Here's a link Prometheus R Rating Petitions
However, it wouldn't hurt to start a new one.

An R rating doesn't make a good film. No rating makes a good film. But I would like a great film with adult themes and a dark tone that could only be captured in an R-rated film. I'm not looking for a gore-fest or pornography. There's a difference between a horrific, well-filmed scene that has gore (i.e. Kane's Death in the original ALIEN), and the execution/torture scenes in Hostel. Alien is a great, complete film. Hostel seems more like an endurance test to see how much you can take before you get sick. I have no interest in seeing the type of violence in Hostel (Might as well watch Faces of Death. And no offense to those who like Hostel.)
Another great R-rated (Scott) film is Black Hawk Down. BHD has intense violence that was important to the film. Imagine that movie without an R rating....just not the same. The violence didn't make it cheesy, and it wasn't there just for the sake of being there.
If Prometheus is supposed to be about the horrors of extreme genetic changes and possibly violent, god-like beings...well then I would much rather prefer an R rating.
