i know this is not really the web site to ask this on, but i am asking everywhere i can, i did some sci fi art work and its really cool, so cool infact that it is being held back by my lack of artistic skill, and i know a lot of you do fan art, so could someone re-draw it for me???

Zim, that looks good I am planning on upgrading my system in the next few day and hopefully will be able to find some time to start tinkering with the model again sometime next week or so.

I can probably give you a file that can be imported into sketchup. I could make an intermediary like.3ds maybe? There are quite a few free viewers out there that can import .obj though. Meshlab off the top of my head. If you actually want to edit the model there is the totally free open source 3d editing program Blender It definitely opens .obj files. Again though how it looks sometimes is dependent on the program. I've had trouble with normals not looking right on some viewers. When finished though I will render the image how you want myself with Maya and the mental ray renderer so you really don't need to worry about those programs.

Okay updated my system to Win 7 64 bit with Maya 2012 64 bit and now working out a whole new level of bugs and learning some new features. Good news is your model loaded. Bad news is the new configuration is forcing me to rewire my brain but it's necessary. Will update here with some new renders for your approval soon. Also Zim do you own a pair of red-cyan Anaglyph 3D glasses?

that all sounds good to me, but i am not sure what you mean by "red-cyan Anaglyph 3D glasses" do you mean like the red and blue paper glasses? if so yes, but i am not sure what you are talking about.

Yeah Zim that's what I am talking about. I can make 3D images really easily with Maya and thought I would display our progress with a 3D image or two in the future. Anyway right now lets concentrate on the engine block: I tried to update it with the details you gave me. Hope I understood them correctly. Sorry for the smaller picture picturepush wouldn't upload the bigger ones. Does this look correct? I also tried to convert the file to .3ds and imported it myself in sketchup but no good. The model looked horrible in that. I don't think sketchup was designed for such a complex shape. Looked great in meshlab though so if you want to examine the model I suggest you just get that some time.

Yeah that looks perfect :D did you change the texture??? Looks much smother then before, but that may just be my imagination though lol and I will need to give meshlab a look, how much is it? Or is it free?

Thanks craigamore but credit should all go to Zim and his cool designs. On a sad note, Two of our best men were accidentally sucked through the turbine and killed during testing. Crews are still cleaning up the mess. Old man Weyland was there and just laughed. Sometimes I wonder about him...

I just refined the model a bit zim and adjusted some normals to get it to look better. You might also be noticing the ambient occlusion I am creating it a different way than before. Meshlab is totally free and open source. : )

You caught me goofing off on the forums and not working on it. : P I sware the crew is working 24/7 they are testing new polymers for the rear wings: Yeah Zim meshlab should work well for that. When it's a bit more together Ill send you a file you can examine.
