Murals like Alien warning?

Why place a warning? To scare humans off just as they arrive?

So, why would Shaw say they were so wrong? Wrong about what she thought was an invitation?

well it could be a warning, but unfortunatly humans arent that bright and most warnings dont work. i was helping do construction in a store years ago and there are signs on the fork lifts and other machines telling you what not to do on it. while i was there, 80% of the people were doing everything on and around the equipment that the damn pictures told us not to!!! they even had red X's over the images, how much clearer can they get!!!!???? JEEZ PEOPLE!!!!! if it is a warning ,the jockies could have left a big rosetta stone with all of our earth languages saying "DONT GO HERE, DONT DO THIS!" and people would have done it anyway lol. same way many humans are dumb enough to mess with poisonous and venomous animals when every other creature in nature knows to stay the hell away from them because of their colors and other warnings the animals have evolved to say "go away, dont touch/eat me!!"

For starters,maybe they wanted us to really work on getting the messages and possibly "hide" it from ourselves so we won't misconstrue it with perhaps religion or other interpretations such as pagan cults.That would make sense because if we thought it was god as we understand him,we won't journey to look for him,knowing that we will meet the maker when our mortal existense expires.Not only that,but how many cultures and/or religions have we humans destroyed as punishment or greed.Example-the Mayans and Aztecs and Sumerians.We would abolished those years ago if they were in the open. And secondly,they would have had to hide them in places that were protected from natural erosion for 40000-50000 years.So if something happened like this it would have played like the story line.

this was discussed before and one conclusion was (@bella) if it is a warning, you'd think there would be something we'd understand as a warning - like you said: a BIG RED X, or a warning from God in addition to a snake on the tree. i'm always surprised at how much people expect a Prometheus-story like plot - theft and punishment. But, you gotta remember: Weyland names the ship Prometheus...so why name your craft after the legend? You think he wants his theft to result in his kidney being eaten over and over? Do you get what I mean? The name is spelled out IN the movie, it's not just the title of it. Hence, the characters would be aware of its implications, no? Or would they be like: how funny, i wonder why this ship is called prometheus, oh lets steal those urns anyway, see if we get our livers eaten!

What's the point? By the time they arrive they'll know it's a warning or not :)

Ok, there's a warning sign. There's an android standing next to you saying: Please tell me you can read this.... And afterwords it goes like: I was so wrong... Yep, they are stupid and do forbidden things.

I agree with everyone as usual lol. But the simplest idea is always the best......just dont leave pics on cave walls.....that way we would be none the wiser would we? And just to make sure that we couldnt find them......they go leaving signals all over the place aswell....... And just to make doubly sure we dont accidentley stumble across any signals lets leave a whacking great dumdum head.....with a human face on it telling us that yes weve arrived. I wonder who the real dumbasses were lol. Us or the aliens lol.

Oh, and don't forget the best of all - they leave their urns with all their playthings out. It's an open invitation for the humans to open them up and start playing around with what's inside. Yes, I would agree that the humans are the dumdums in this movie.

It would be short movie if everyone used common sense... One look inside the structure would send me running home, never to return.

Why do people do things that they are warned against doing? I think it is because our minds are drawn to action verbs. The DON'T gets lost to the positive action. The sign says "Do not Touch" and all our mind's eye sees is "Touch" The sign says "Do not Go Here" and our minds read "Go Here" The message should be "Stay Away" or something similar. We do the suggested positive action. Of course the best action would be to not advertise the location in the first place. Out of sight: out of mind.

Who says the aliens put them there? Maybe that dot pattern is something buried in the collective subconscious of mankind and it came out in the work of these artists.

Maybe all their toys are out is because nothing or nobody ever travels to this planet, their home planet. We lock our doors from intruders, thieves and the such. But if there was no such thing or we were on earth by ourselves, just your own extended family-on the whole earth, and some ants landed here and came walking through one of you or your families houses, you probably wouldn't be too concerned. (until the ants started stealing your genetic Play-Doh!) LOL

Thats mankind for you. We love Taboo, we see Rules made to be broken. If you had a Door thats painting with Do not enter Extream Danger Alien Contamination. You think people are all gonna stay away..... We like the unkown, the Danger, to push ourselves, to do stuff we not suposed to do. I mean take God he wrote all those 10 Comandments and most wont go to Heaven because of the Sins we do. Maybe if God never made those 10 Comandments maybe we would not all be breaking them lol.

Let's not forget, the picture they see is of a humanoid with a rather long odd arm pointing to some dots on the wall. From what I can see, these mutated people grow rather long limbs so maybe it was a warning (aliens can be so vague sometimes).
