Alien Drone
MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 12:18 AMDoes anyone else find it kind of silly to name the spaceship Prometheus and then by some cosmic coincidence the movie is named the same thing and then, if that's not enough, that's what the movie is about.....how original is that?
What I'm saying is this, the ship is named that and then you go and live up to the name? Seems kind of dumb of people in the future.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 12:32 AMMaybe the ship's called Prometheus because that's what the mission is about.
ie. Weyland wants to steel from the Gods!

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 12:46 AMlol what else should they name it? "space jockey" or "not an alien prequel, but yet it is" ?

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 1:24 AMYeah, that was a strange decision. I'd hope they have an explanation for the name of the ship, but no idea what that would be. Why would they force that in anyhow? I don't get it.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 1:31 AMProject Prometheus was a real NASA initiative for long duration space missions. It was canceled in 2005 but the timeline on the Weyland Industries website mentions it : "Using capital from his 2015 success, Weyland acquires copyrights to technology developed by NASA’s innovative but poorly funded Project Prometheus. With Weyland’s significantly augmented funding for the project, JIMO became a reality and proves the existence of simple life in Europa’s ocean."
I started a topic about this entry and came up with a possible scenario why it might be important: JIMO

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 2:10 AMWell there ya go then...................nasa wasnt following clues left in cave walls and certainly didnt steal any technology yet still named their mission Project Prometheus.
Yes its plausible.
