4) an android , a total AI ( not a human clone then , genetic material just used for flesh, muscles ,eyes etc ... ) deserve a) total respect as a human b) lets take care of it as labor force but with some rights c) come on is a can with wires

Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

1. I liked Ripley in Alien and Aliens, in the next two crappy sequels (ok, Alien 3 was half crappy, but still) she was pretty much annoying to me. And then, Ash.
2. I don't want a sequel. But IF there is one, Ridley has to be the one.
3. B
4. B or A. Ok, B.

craigamoreApril 07, 2012
1) Any of the crew of the Nostromo...they all have their moments
2) RIDLEY SCOTT...case closed
3) essential
4) difficult to answer....if that became possible, they would adance to a point, eventually, where you might have to give them rights...not doing so would likely lead to the revolt scenario everyone's seen countless time in the literature..

Biehn_BanditApril 07, 2012
1. Bishop and Hicks.
2. Cronenberg
3. B
4. C. but I wouldn't abuse it either, due to code of personal conduct rather than empathy for a machine.

Synthrimonger94April 07, 2012
1. Bishop
2. Tony Scott Ridley's brother or even his son Luke
3. A
4. B

1st off good morning Frantz. Have you milked any cows this morning? Best to you and yours this holiday weekend and may the Bunnies of Science Fiction Film making run a thousand nubile winning marathons and mating chants in your wife's head as she releases all your past week's stress.

Oh that's not fair if we are talking dead guys then there is only one choice Mr kubrick to return to the genre he really did define . lol
And what would cecil b de mille do with sc fi lol. I would like to see oliver stone apply himself to a scfi as well.

Biehn_BanditApril 07, 2012
Fritz Lang would own all those dead guys in putting an atmopheric, Gigerian world on screen.

SpartacusApril 07, 2012
LMFAO you guys...awesome...
Fritz Lang

Biehn_BanditApril 07, 2012
I guess you guys have never seen Metropolis, if you think Fritz Lang directing an Alien movie is nonsense.
artyohApril 07, 2012
Indeed, Biehn_Bandit............just remember Spartacus, they didn't even have sound in movies, when this was concieved:

alteredstate.April 07, 2012
i've seen metropolis years ago who said it was nonsense?
The nonsense was intended at the Impossibility of dead guys directing.
artyohApril 07, 2012
@alteredstate.....that's the Internet for you. Intentions are often misinterpreted. But as an exercise, thinking about how dead directors might have handled things, is kinda fun. For example, can you imagine Hitchcock not forcing Rapace to dye her hair blonde?

SpartacusApril 07, 2012
I laughed because I thought both choices might even be better than "Hitch" and was utterly amazed in fact that I myself did not even THINK of either, and sorry, but especially Fritz Lang, You may just be right there.

SpartacusApril 07, 2012
@artyoh,
Great post. I cannot, Hitch would not stand for any disobedience from her either.

Gravity .86April 07, 2012
1: The Xenomorph of course, Facehugger/Drone
2: Danny Boyle or Cameron(Aliens was a perfect sequel)
3: A, The Ted Talk viral enough said.
4: B, If the "Company" is perfecting their human characteristics they need basic rights to be accepted, goes hand in hand.

FamishedApril 07, 2012
1. Ripley
2. Nolan, Alex Proyas, Alexandre Aja (as a left field name to throw in)
3. B. integral initially, but fades as the film progresses
4. That's a sentience question. If they can think, aspire, dream, they deserve rights. Imagine the predjudice scales will be through the roof, and there would/will be a likely attempt at a genocide by some adverse group.

SpartacusApril 07, 2012
sorry "famished" I believe you have to change your first reply, He clearly said you cannot PIck Ripley !!!

the comingApril 07, 2012
1) Dallas for comedy , and Ash for acting
2)Michael Bay...just kidding
The people who answered Cronenberg, Guillerme del Toro and Chris Cunningham had me interested...I think I would choose Cronenberg
3)B kinda important
4)Of course A...I am a little disgusted by the other responses...To me there is no difference between a synthetic and biological intelligence...a toaster is a primitive machine, this is AI...dont get it twisted

genjitsu17April 07, 2012
1- Mamoru Oshii, Chan Wook Park, or give Fincher an actual script to work off of.
2- Vasquez
3-A
4-A (if they are sentient)
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

genjitsu17April 07, 2012
Sorry, reverse the 1st two.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

Biehn_BanditApril 07, 2012
the coming,
we'll have to agree to disagree. It's synthetic parts to me, and any perceived emotions are just calculated design. Man cannot create true life from parts made in a factory. I find the notion absurd.
Yes, it is AI. Artificial.

FrantzApril 07, 2012
i agree with Biehn bandit ....an AI is always a fake ...a great success in programming ..but will never be self aware ...he can fool you making you think he's ...but he will never be . Harming an android will be no more evil than harming a toaster ...even if he will scream, cry and say "noooo please nooo" .

SvanyaApril 07, 2012
1- Bishop and Call. Love them.
2- Dunno.
3- Dunno.
4- I would say A in the case of a movie android just because it's a given that they are sentient beings/self aware. Androids usually are portrayed as being abused/ensalved by man. Also, I am not a cruel person and I would treat an android kindly basically because that is the way my moral code works.
Bishop is Bae <3
artyohApril 07, 2012
Heh, our brains are nothing more than organic processors which operate through electrochemical means. As for self-aware machines, a significant number of very bright people, consider it an inevitablity: http://singinst.org/overview/whatisthesingularity/

b) well present not the main factor but surely part of it
a) total respect as a human

FrantzApril 07, 2012
artyoh ...you feel that you are a living being between the eyes right ? you feel your inner self right ? dont worry an inorganic thing will never feel that .
the comingApril 07, 2012
@biehn that is only one type of intelligence design, the mimic-type fake intelligence which basically comes from having a large number of cross referencing databases and only is an illusion (the dictionary states that the weyland droids have this type of intelligence, so Bishop was pretending all along...great)
However there is another theoretical type which is pure intelligence, basically the human brain functions re-created exactly with synthetic parts..are you telling me an identical copy of the human brain would not have awareness? I say it would
I think humans tend to overrate themselves a little bit, like someone else said we are nothing but a biological machine...if you lack the imagination to see that synthetic parts on a small enough and complex enough scale would be indistinguishable from organic life then I feel sorry for you...
