MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 5:58 PMI just noticed something at 10:34 of the super slo mo trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1i_g3zpOJmk). There are pods that resemble hyper sleep pods in the chamber with the chair. The one on the far left seems to be open. Maybe that's where the guy that is activating the chair came from and maybe the other three contain his friends and or/ an SJ? I guess it makes sense that the SJs and blue guys would need some form of preservation if they decay like we do.
Thoughts? Sorry if this has already been addressed.

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 6:01 PMI think this is where the Jockeys hibernate and the Blu guys are their servants that activate them when the time is right!

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 6:05 PMIt does seem like that doesn't it. What would be the significance of their humanoid appearance though?

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 6:14 PMThere are actually 4 (four) pods or what looks like sarcophagi on the "gun/chair" turntable.
But there is also another question that everyone keeps missing and that is what sits in the REALLY BIG CHAIR at the back of the chamber. I dont mean the Jockey "telescope", but the REALLY BIG CHAIR that looks like its flanked by the actual ship flight controls. It was obviously meant for something that has a really long arm reach.
The Blue Guy messing with the green orb actually had to stand on the table to activate it... but it surely was NOT meant to be activated this way, but from something really large seated in the chair BEHIND this controls.
I had started a topic on this a while back. You can see it here...

In this post I give my opinion as why the blue guys are humanoid! Hope you like it!

Those pods certainly do suggest the appearance of being for the use of the Blues or another being. And that REALLY BIG CHAIR, whoa boy- is that what's in the footage that hasn't been leaked or talked about by Fox and Scott? As far as the pods existing to preserve something against decay, well, that trips me into a different matter concerning continuity that really isn't part of this thread.

MemberOvomorphApr-08-2012 6:45 PMThat's a good point. I had seen you guys talking about the really big chair, but never read the post. I've been convinced for a while that there is something completely nuts there saving, creature-wise.
Something else that I thought was weird and which I hoped wouldn't turn out to be what it appeared was the length of the SJs arm. In Alien, the arm was disproportionately long and strange. In the shots of the SJ in the preview, the proportions are more that of a stocky human. I was a little bummed when I saw it, but wasn't really sure what to make. Then again, the suits or statues or whatever they are that are behind Shaw in the "Talk Prometheus" photo above are more similar to the original.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 12:33 AMThe clues behind the viral campaign offer a lot of similarities between ancient civilizations and what we see in the trailers. I believe Ridley quoted something about Erich Von Daniken's work, and an artifact behind one of his theories is indeed present in the trailer.
Now the "pods" in the star map room are somewhat similar to a sarcophagus and the ship is meant to be somewhere below the temple. What if they are cryo chambers? Maybe the symbolism isn't to do with what's inside the ship? Maybe Ridley is trying to get us to think about the earthen pyramids/temples and ask, were those sarcophagus used for something else?
I don't know about the Mayans but are the Egyptian sarcophagus' not used for preservation? Isn't that kind of what a hyper-sleep chamber is meant to do?

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 12:59 AMIt dose make some sense that the blue guy might be a servant to another being, Similar to how David is a servant for Prometheus crew. Also interesting how hallways of Prometheus ship and Derelict have very similar curve design.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:33 AMThanks Gem!
That last pic of the overhead view of the whole mechanism is GREAT!. That one really shows the scale of EVERYTHING and that whatever is playing with stuff on the turntable was clearly NOT meant to sit in that HUGE CONTROL CHAIR.
That chair looks like it meant for something at least double the size of the "blue guy"...maybe triple?
You know what else has always struck me as really odd... the ARCHWAY shape. Are they in fact "ergonomically" designed for the MASTERS? well...guess thats another topc. hahaha

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:53 AMYeah, I agree that the doorways and halls appear to be lower than 13ft.......probably under 10ft. In the 3rd trailer, there's a shot of David standing beside one of the doorways, and there looks to be no more than 4 ft of clearance above his head, tops. I don't see any explanation, other than Scott having reduced the size of the SJ race from their appearance in "Alien" ......probably for some practical reason, like avoiding completely CGI SJs. As for a "master race," where's the evidence? We've seen something that looks very much like environment suits inside one of the hallways, and if said hallways are 10 ft. max., those suits can't be over 9 ft. in height...probably somewhat less.....which would seem about right for the SJs seen around David in the map-room clip. I mean......maybe it's just a high-back chair...it looks like that style, anyway....lol.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 10:01 AMWait....are we sure that big chair doesn't fit the 9ft blue guy? Could it just be a "high-back" chair? Once seated, can the chair not slide forward a bit to allow the 9ft blue guy to easily reach all the controls around him? (Much like you can slide your car seat forward.) I'm sure the chair can also turn, giving the controller easy access to the controls all around him on the console.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 11:11 AMI am gonna play devil's advocate here: are we really sure that's a chair? In the picture with Ridley in front of it, there doesn't look like there is enough room for something to sit in it. What if we assume it isn't a chair for a second, what could it be? And what does that mean for the larger story?

CanadaPhil
MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 11:21 AMI think the last pic does in fact show the chair in its normal full forward position.
Use the shot with Ridley for perspective. He is just under 6 ft. I believe and he is standing a couple feet ahead of it. No picture Ridley as being the averyage size for a HUMAN male we are used to and imagine him now fully seated in that chair. His head probably wouldnt even be half way up the back, and he would probably look pretty ridiculous.
Even at 9ft. something fully seating in that would look small. I dont think the chair is intended for anything 9ft. tall, like our obviously undersized blue guy on the table seems to be, but much bigger.
Here is an alternate perspective. This is the Holo-Map image from the viral marketing site...

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 12:25 PMHow many times have I seen these images? ... and ONLY NOW just noticed there is a ramp on the round platform, dead opposite the right hand hallway :) ... hmmm ...
And I still going with a chair for the control panel ... makes sense to me ... ;) ...

MemberDeaconApr-09-2012 4:16 PMThe Chair looks big but then again many Chairs can be bigger than the intended users.
The Big Brother Chairs could sit 3 people, some Thrones are huge much bigger than needed for a King to sit on them.
So these Chairs could be fine for a 9-10ft tall being.
