What do you guys think the significance of black liquid on David's finger and his comment? It's interesting that they waited until this preview to reveal the close up of his finger that you can see the liquid drop of liquid in. Given his comment about big things having small beginnings, I still think he is one of the crew members that mutates. I think holloway get sick and does while Fifield and David mutate, with David becoming the human-sized bio mechanical being standing over Shaw at the end of the trailers. Thoughts?

I suspect David is unravelling the mystery of the engineers culture and has stumbled on the bio-matter building block for humanity. Therefor referring to the black liquid as his, and/or humanities beginnings as small because its sitting on the tip of his finger! Zing!

I feel like he is central to everything in this story....because of who's playing him(Fassy)... and because, other than Weyland, he is the only other character that I know of who got their own viral video... RS wants us to focus on him for some important reason, he could be the red herring, or whatever its called...but just like pinocchio, I think he wants to be a real boy, and this icky goo(which, as an x files fan, appreciate the nod) will make him a real-ish boy... just like all the other androids, he will have a pivotal role, assuming for good... I still believe he is the hooded figure by the waterfall, and the changing figure in the earlier trailer(check out my previous post "damaged david")... gonna be a shocker when we find out...cant wait

I think it may infect him but I doubt it from what I've seen David is 100% artificial so even if he had the bioformer inside him he would never get infected. Something may grow inside him but not change him unless somehow it can change him organically and NO the being at the end of the trailer is Holloway!

Referring to my comment in another post...the black oil is curiously similar to the black oil in the X-Files mythology that allowed an alien to use a human as a host. IMHO this is where Prometheus is heading.

David is artificial but we've seen how the androids in this universe mimic biological systems like blood circulation... Ash even sweats. In the timeline there's something interesting about the synthetics and the synthetic skin being based on human biology. However, I think if the virus attempts to bond with what it thinks is biology the virus won't fully take over and allows David to control his new found power as a Herculean-like Demi-god. So, to fight off the giants/monsters he has to become one of them, but thinks he can control it... & knows that he'll increase his size, durability and combat ability.

I think the idea of a robot mutating due to a biological agent is severely retarded.

@takka_takka_takka Wouldn't it depend on exactly how the robot in question was constructed, and exactly how the SJ tech works? If there's anything which would theoretically be capable of joining hands across the divide between biological and electro/mechanical elements, wouldn't it be super-advanced biomechanics?
