The REAL Prometheus

After reading a lot about this film and how the titan 'Prometheus' is an essential element of this story in abstract, I have started to wonder whether the plot of this film will revolve around the crew literally finding the original titan Prometheus himself, just not as we know him. Greek mythology has become myth over time. However, is it possible that this film will be advocating that these myths are in fact a true historical account but, because we were so simple and undeveloped as a race at that time, that we have misinterpreted or misrepresented who or what the titans actually were? Could the film's plot be trying to say that Prometheus could have actually been part of a superior alien race we refer to as titans, if you will, created by superior beings for their own nefarious purposes and that we are the creation or children of this particular titan and were planted on Earth with no special tools except the fire that Prometheus stole from the "Gods" that led to our advancement as a race above all other known species? Could this film be about giving ancient mythology a greater level of literal interpretation? Your thoughts?

That's kind of what I was saying in this thread....A Circular State of Promethean Affairs I posted the following in another thread and will add to it as my wheels have been turning to the point where the idea has settled into a nice, comfortable place of being... .......Prometheus is the blue fellow we see standing at the waterfall. He steals fire or knowledge from his fellow engineers/SpaceJockies and gifts it to humanity at the dawn of OUR time.....He is punished by his fellow enigneers, hence the affliction we see him dealing with above the falls and the loose origin of the Greek Promethean myth... ...The engineer we see by the chair... ...is another member of his race who, upon seeing the extent to which we have advanced by our arrival on their planet, decides it is time to deal with any threat we pose by going to earth and unleashing God knows what, hence Shaw's horror that if the crew does nothing, "...there won't be any home to go back to." I also accept the probability that the crew takes what is not theirs, facilitating the ire and wrath of the SpaceJockies......and bringing the Promethean myth full circle in that the crew suffers their own Promethean punishment for attempting to gift to themselves secrets they were not meant to know..... This would all tie things together nicely.....I'm probably wrong and totally full of it as usual, but I like the idea.......

Whoever that is, they don't have any of the biomechanical details of the figure in the map-room.....and unless that particular Sj just happens to like working out, the figure at the waterfall looks like a 98 lb. weakling by comparison. I like the idea, though.

Something else........Either it's a trick of light, my overactive imagination......or the details on the figure standing over Shaw don't look as fully developed as those on the map-room figure. craigamore, would you mind working your magic, and grabbing a couple of screenies for comparison.........I'm a total dufus when it comes to computers and such.....

Thanks, craigamore......like I said, it could be just my imagination. The lighting isn't the greatest in either shot, but it just seems almost like the details on the figure above Shaw aren't as distinct or dimensional. In any event, it doesn't appear that the figure standing above Shaw is 9 ft. tall.....that's the figure Scott uses to describe them in the Q&A.

@JonseyJr: both you and the great craigamore put forth an intriguing theory i do wonder, if said theory come to fruition in this film, the name of the PROMETHEUS craft is somewhat coincidental then i suppose...

Thanks for your input Craigamore. You have really opened this film up. I remember looking at a scene where David is in one of the rooms and is looking at the star map but is then approached by four of the titans. Is it possible that this scene could be where the titans awake from their sarcophagi and, because David is an artificial being like themselves, they provide him with the history of mankind? That would be one of the explanations of the insertion of the "original prometheus" flashback scene itself, if it is in fact a flashback scene, and of how David knows that "they", not one individual, are leaving to travel to Earth. Unless of course that sound bite was taken from another scene, e.g. about the infected crew members, to throw us of.

@JonesyJr ... I could go with yours and Craigmore's theory rather than have a religious factors thrown in ... makes more sense ...

Well we have to remember that for one we only see the guys head and hand/lower arm in that scene. And remember the Humans in Space Suits look bigger than a naked Human would, so while he may look bulky a lot of that could be down to the actual Suit. Basically think Tony Stark in his Iron Man suit, only the Space Jockeys suit is Bio Mechanical and not Metal/Mechanical. Also taking into acount height of Dallas compared to Chair in Alien then if said Chair in this movie is the same, the Pilot in this movie would be about 9ft.
