TOO MUCH FOOTAGE

Is it me or are they showing too much footage of the film prior to release? My reason for saying this is that the first trailer was brilliant in it's own right as it only gave us glimpses of the film but also built up enough suspense for us to watch the film. However, the more these trailers are appearing, the more I fear that we will witness too much footage before we even see the film that will lead to us intelligently detecting which bit from the trailer is about to appear next when we actually sit down and watch it. In the interests of not ruining the viewing experience I hope that they stop showing us more footage and just release the damn movie A.S.A.P!

Like I said a couple of months ago... I think the biggest mistake, was letting us see the "blue guy". Keeping that under wraps would've been crazy to see, once in the theatre. Watch the original ALIEN trailer. Freaky enough, but very little was shown...

For that very reason I hardly watch any trailers...all the forums ive been to on this site have been for the 'everything alien' stuff cause i want to watch Prometheus fresh..no spoilers..ive only seen maybe two prometheus trailers and that will probably be it...dont know what you mean by the blue guy and i dont want to know...i dop like that they used the original weird audio effect from the original alien trailer in the new prometheus trailer....sweet

My take on the trailers and images, none of which are used without permission by the way, is that for me enough is enough. I stopped following new information when an event was held by Fox in London apparently showing extended footage - I don't know what that footage was and I don't want to know. I wish that I hadn't seen ANY trailers or images, but human nature being what it is, it was bound to happen. Having said that, I don't believe that what has been released will spoil the vast majority of this film...I asked myself this question- if all this information seems to tell most of the story, then why are none of the people involved talking? Why the massive secrecy? They talk in interviews, yes, but they don't really say anything, nothing specific..they go round and round, but never say anything as detailed as what we see in the trailers. So I say that despite everything, all we have really seen is the tip of an iceberg. And the rest of the iceberg is something we never imagined would be under the visible tip. Like DarthSpock says, watch the original ALIEN trailer....you see the Alien for a brief instant shooting out of the egg and say " there it is" You see the film and realize that you didn't see it at all.... it's not a wiggly snakelike thing but a repellent monstrous Gothic grotesque that set a new standard in movie history.

I'm on the other side. I still have no idea what is going to happen. Disjointed images that have shown nothing of the jockey motivation. If anything the trailers have made me more excited. But I am also a person who reads spoilers. It's not the journey, it's how it gets there. It os the way it is done.

It may look like that they're showing too much footages and in which case you could blame the marketing people for over-cooking it. However, (1) it is mostly the "geeks" and net savvy people who are spending times putting together these information and trying to force narative on an unreleased film. (2) Many people. mostly the general public are either still unaware or did not connect Prometheus to Alien, and (3) I do not think that we are getting anything out of it, in fact I'm still at lost understanding what is going on in Prometheus compared with films like Avenger Assemble and TDKR. Lastly, you still have the case of teenagers (those in the Harry Potter and Twlight demographic) who might be overly familiar with comic-book adapations but not on Alien/Aliens both of which slips into film pre-history for some of these youngsters.
