MemberOvomorphApr-13-2012 11:07 AMI cannot express How much I love that movie "HybridVigor", so much so I made my father, Mother, and Brother see it with me and They actually all loved it too, it was a "funky way cool flick" back in the day...I think it still is today and the telekinesis scenes in particular I loved the best.

MemberOvomorphApr-13-2012 11:15 AMThat film "OUTLAND" with Sean Connery had a whole "BladeRunner" feel to it and came out before "BladeRunner" did it not?

MemberDeaconApr-13-2012 11:24 AMSo so many for me, its hard to tell.
I am someone who does not have favorites in anything really, i never had one stand out favorite Wrestler, never had one stand out Movie/TV Babe i had a crush on etc.
off course Aliens Franchise is there, but so too is Terminator and in both some of the movies are not as good as the others... i.e Alien/Aliens Rocked, Terminator and Terminator 2 also. I feel the Aliens that followed where more of a disapointment than the Terminators that followed.
For me Star Wars has to be up there, maybe at the top but again while SW 4-6 was great 1-3 had some good and some not so good parts.
But i guess thats what happens when you make a sequel or even prequel, it has a hard task living upto the Orginal....
Even Reboots dont quite work either, Star Trek and Nightmare on Elm Street just again could not live upto the orginals.
There are many other movies i liked to many to list really, but include The Thing, i also liked the Black Hole and many many others, inc Flash Gordon i could go on and on.
But yes i guess that Predator, Star Wars, Alien/Aliens and Terminator have to rank really high in any list i could make.

MemberOvomorphApr-13-2012 11:41 AMFlash Gordon, now that's a classic...
and it sure is Hard to argue with that entire T-2 film {extended ultimate nothing more could possibly be revealed edition}as the subject.

MemberOvomorphApr-13-2012 12:04 PM@Spartacus,
That metal-clad T2 ultimate extremo edition is totally sweet.

Just because I don't think I've seen any listed on this thread yet, here's some anime.
Black Heaven - Middle-aged family man and former guitarist in the heavy metal band Black Heaven is recruited by a space army to use his guitar-shredding skillz to active an enormous weapon used to fight interstellar aliens.

Serial Experiments Lain - Shy technophobe high-schooler gets her first NAVI (handheld computer) and accesses "the Wired" (the internet) for the first time. Subsequently learns the true nature of herself. Cyberpunk, trippy, psychedelic, weird, awesome. Full of WTH-ery and head-exploding qualities in general.

MemberOvomorphApr-13-2012 1:23 PMI agree with those who included "Blade Runner - Tears in the Rain" and "2001 - HAL" as favorites. I am also a big fan of the X-Files and one of my absolute favorite episodes is titled "The Post-Modern Prometheus". Curiously, the plot of this episode may have some parallels to Scott's Prometheus. MemberOvomorphApr-13-2012 8:04 PMFrom the classic era, I pick "Forbidden Planet" "monster from the Id" attack on the ship....and the best movie robot, ever.
Another pick for the sequence ending in Roy's brief monologue on the roof in "Bladerunner" after redeeming his humanity. Except for the bizarre discontinuity of that cut to the dove, that scene is perfect.
Pretty much all of "2001." still, the most brilliantly conceived and executed Science Fiction film ever made......and by far, the most influential.

Forever War
MemberOvomorphApr-14-2012 7:09 PM1) "2001" Segue from bone to orbital weapons platform-unmatched conceptual brilliance.
2)"Star Wars" First jump to lightspeed by the Millenium Falcon- never gets old.
3)"Fifth Element" Leeloo breaks out after being reconstituted and lands in the taxi of Korben Dallas. Hers and the audiences first look at the 23rd century, funky taxi music, McDonalds and all.
Saw all of these in their original theatrical run.
