Logic says the crew can't have anything to do with Alien

The crew can't be responsible for the LV-426 crash. Prometheus is set 30 years prior to Alien as we know, but Zeta Reticuli II, the star cluster where LV-426 is apparently, is around 40 light years away. That means, the signal wouldn't have reached Earth for another 10 years after the Nostromo. Its highly unlikely that company scientists would have discovered it immediately, instead it would have taken a few years to find it. So the derelict on LV-426 must have happened at least 10 - 20 years before Prometheus

@allinamberclad If the 2-3 years of travel time refer to the perspective of the crew of Prometheus then they need not travel FTL to cover 40 LY. With 3 g acceleration & deceleration (after mid way point), it would take 3 years to travel 40 LY due to the time dilation, a side effect of Einstein's relativity theory. @Sheridan33 Yes, and thanks and - while it may be so and while I don't dispute it - I only say that taking advantage of the Relativistic effects of travel under constant acceleration is [i]not[/i] what they seem to be suggesting that they will have done? What they seem to be suggestion that they will have done, is travel faster than Light - hence my reference, to that which they seem to be suggestion that they will have done. Please have mercy and be kind enough not to tell me just how many shades of impossible what they seem to be suggesting that they will have done, would be, in normal Space - etc, etc and etc? I know: I was just planning to roll with it.... Thanks for the link.
