If Prometheus was going to be directed by someone else other than Ridley who would be at the top of your wish list, personally I would go with David Fincher, Yes Yes we all know he did Alien3 but I have always liked his dark bleak style, a style that would do well IMHO. Please don't say Peter Jackson lol, Love his work but no no no... PS: Hope this hasn't been discussed before lol

cronenbergs Dead ringers was masterful jeremy irons was mesmerising in those roles quote: radical techniques were required .... Its the clients we have been getting in lately the're all mutants the're made all wrong ellie. There's nothing the matter with the instrument, it's the body. The woman's body is all wrong! love that film

Michael Bay.......................(dramatic pause) haha just kidding. That guy couldn't direct his way out of a wet paper bag. Hmm, good question though. I'm not convinced anyone could do the job as good as Ridley could. I suppose if I wanted 3 hours of heavy CGI with no story I would choose Cameron.

It has been discussed before however i would chose Stanley Kubrick! David Fincher would come second hes able to capture that grittiness and i enjoyed Alien 3 despite everyone's disapproval

David Fincher and Kubrick are to me the most overrrrrrrated directors ever ( lucky we are different in the world ... ) .... i go with Duncan Jones

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2012 3:19 PM
wow, do I ever respectfully disagree Frantz. I think Both have directed 2 or more Masterpieces. I think that's very strange that anyone would refer to either one that way but "Hey, to each their own". You're entitled.

Kubrick. mice choice, say a documentary about him, apparently his house/mansion in London was full of hundreds of thousands of photos of all sorts of buildings and places. a really interesting guy.....

Source Code just wasnt that good... It was moderate at best. Moon was great but not quite a masterpeice. Kubrick hasnt done anything less then great 2001, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut to name a few all near Perfect films

The only reason I am interested is Ridley Scott. We would be shitting on anyone else. Hell, Andrey Tarkovskiy could rise from the grave and we still would be shitting on it.

The only Kubrick film I like is "2001". I laugh all the way through the Shining. Such an awful film. Personally, I enjoyed "Moon" more then anything he has made beyond "2001".

Hugo was supposed to be really great, though im not comparing the style of movies, he apparantly did a masterful job incorporating the CGI. i think scorcese could do a great sci-fi horror film, though it would have a very scorcese feel to it.

wow @ Shane... Ya ever see How I learned to stop worrying and Love The Bomb? Or better yet...SPARTACUS?...which is maybe the definitive single greatest action movie ever made...or 100% on the list of the best of them. All Time!

Sorry my alien faithful but has to be Cameron. Although wasn't there talk of him doing the sequel?

Neill Blomkamp! That guy really rocked with District 9...A perfect totally fresh blend, of graphics, sci-fi, incredible documentary cinematography, and exquisite description of characters, who even formerly unknown, you would attach to them and immerse into the movie right away....wow...Certainly not a documentary look suitable for Alien, but I believe he would have made a perfect job for honoring the Alien movie.

Tomas Alfredson gets my vote. As well as most I see on this list. I've always loved Finchers style and hope that he has the ability to make up for Alien3, even though I enjoyed it. It was the first of the franchise I watched because I was 9 when it came out, I still think if he had more control he could make something fans would flip out over. But Alfredson has that perfect patience it takes to make a good story tense without feeling pretentious.

I think Cameron was mentioned for the sequel as an April Fools. Mike Newell is pretty underatted.
