If not Ridley Scott...

Please don't say Peter Jackson lol, Love his work but no no no...
PS: Hope this hasn't been discussed before lol

Sorry my alien faithful but has to be Cameron. Although wasn't there talk of him doing the sequel?

Neill Blomkamp!
That guy really rocked with District 9...A perfect totally fresh blend, of graphics, sci-fi, incredible documentary cinematography, and exquisite description of characters, who even formerly unknown, you would attach to them and immerse into the movie right away....wow...Certainly not a documentary look suitable for Alien, but I believe he would have made a perfect job for honoring the Alien movie.

Tomas Alfredson gets my vote. As well as most I see on this list. I've always loved Finchers style and hope that he has the ability to make up for Alien3, even though I enjoyed it. It was the first of the franchise I watched because I was 9 when it came out, I still think if he had more control he could make something fans would flip out over. But Alfredson has that perfect patience it takes to make a good story tense without feeling pretentious.

I think Cameron was mentioned for the sequel as an April Fools. Mike Newell is pretty underatted.

@spartacus
Seen both. I was a film student, so they were required watching. i'd seen then on TV ontario as a child as well. I think it was TV Ontario, might have been PBS. Never got into either of them. As I said, 2001 is more my dig.
I don't really like action films. Like beyond a handful I dislike most. I don't like period pieces. I love history but i prefer to read then watch.
About all I like is crazy sci-fi and fucking outsider weirdo films. the original alien is , as I have said, so french Scifi I love it. the rest feel to american.

From what I see, they may as well rename the entire TNT network to Tyler Perry Presents or something.
