Pratchett/Gaiman - Good Omens (how is this not a movie yet?!?) - very funny, completely out there. If you want to be fully immersed in a whole new universe written by an acceptional talent (whos non sci fi work is just as good if not better) you cant look much further than Iain M Banks' 'Culture' series - immense - and probably too epic for film makers to even contemplate.

Just ordered Schismatrix (plus) by Bruce Sterling. Given that I'm a huge cyberpunk fan, I'm almost embarrassed that this is my first by the author. There are a lot of interesting parallels to many theories for Prometheus, so I figure it's a great time to read this. Anyone on this board should check it out.

Have you read the Rendezvous with Rama series? I really liked them. Well the later books not so much, but still a good read.

read the Forever war by joe haldeman it is heavily plagiarised by cameron for aliens and avatar it has been the no 1 sci fi book since 1974 in book shops ridley scott has just finished aquiring the rights to it after a 25year bid the book is stone cold amazing and never lets go of you from page 1 I like the military feel of grunts in lightspeed travel and the deadly teachings of a battlescared marine of new recruits on an ice cold planet beyond pluto ps the sequel books to it were complete rubbish example the first matrix vs matrix 2 and 3

As far as audiobooks go, i can recommend Clarkes' 3001. Get over the old guy reading it and listen. You wont be dissapointed. Also Doug Naylors Red Dwarf Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better than Life. Chris Barrie excels himself with his impressions of the characters.
