Am I The Only One Who Hopes The Xenomorph Doesn't End Up Becoming Such A Simple

....also, can we stop stating this idea as fact? ...the newbies and laments are starting to think this is true....and of course it's not only too easy of a direction to take, BUT also not very interesting, in my humble opinion, anyways....
I welcome original "outside the box" ideas....

You mean the idea that the xenomorphs were created by the Space Jockeys as a sort of biological weapon? Or just that they were used as weapons by the Space Jockeys?

I remember Scott talking long ago about the Alien and saying it was not educated or taught or even knew others of its species. He likened it to a child growing up on an island with no human contact ever and how it would react totally on instinct.
I liked this idea, it gave a greater question as in "What would the Alien be if it were among it's own kind?" It also gives further thought then to some of Giger's Alien life cycle pictures and then the Alien turned into jumpy, crawly, insect-like lizards. Now that seemed like predicable direction and very much "on the nose"!

Either or.... Since in EVERY SINGLE 'Alien' film that's been the M.O. of the humans for the Xenomorph species, is it too much ask that the original intention behind said creatures were for something entirely different? ... Using it as a weapon is such a simple human idea and we're supposed to be giving the "jockey" race a higher caliber of thinking and evolution, so why do we pigeon hold them to the same simple ideas that we had/have as humans? ....

I agree that the xenos as weapons is not all that exciting. But don't be too hard on fanboys, it was Scott himself who said that he imagined them to be so.

Totally there was no information or background and it was always pressumed (officially) that they were weapons. I hope they don't turn out to so as any race that can terraform a planet or manipulate or even create life would surely be able to create a species specific virus or something way more efficient!

Ridley never said they were a weapon.... Produce proof this amazing statement he made ....

The film will be really tough, really nasty. It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. There are two citations I am looking for. One is from "The Independent" , September 2010. Where he wonders why no one questions what the purpose of the xenos was. He then mentions them as being either possible weapons or planetary clean ups.
There is another source I am trying to remember where Scott was even more definitive about the xenos being some kind of weapon. If anyone else can help me out . . .

Yup, that's one of them.

This is the point i'm trying to make..... Everyone is completely taking what Scott said and misinterpreting it.... Not once in that quote did he say "they were a weapon" or "they go and clean up planets".... He is simply asking the foundation questions that set the purpose for 'Prometheus'.... Are you guys really taking that quote as his admittance toward the Xenos being weapons?
.....Find me "the other quote".... I'm loving this...this whole website is full of people interpreting quotes exactly the way they wanna hear them....

Also, when you hyperlink this as your proof, make sure there isn't a question mark at the end of the article's title... That is ALWAYS a dead give away that the information you're about to read does NOT come to a definitive conclusion as a result of any quotes or information contained in the article.... They're essentially asking YOU the reader 'what do you think'.... It's an extremely old news trick to lure you into reading...... the "?" turns a statement into a question and removes all liability off the writer, because the story doesn't prove ANYTHING to which the title implies

I always wanted to go back and make an Alien 5 or 6, where we find out where they came from and go there and answer the question, "who are they." Mars is too close so they can't be gods of war, but the theory was, in my head was, this was an aircraft carrier, a battlewagon of a civilisation, and the eggs were a cargo which were essentially weapons. So right, like a large form of bacteriological stroke bio-mechanoid warfare. Once again you can not, you just can not beat this score, it is great. And again the set is pretty spectacular really.
From Ridley Scott Alien DVD 1999
I also love when people seem to know when others are just making assumptions. Fanboy I am not. Apology accepted.
Now take a stress pill and relax. I enjoy working with humans.

of course he's not going to come out and say what the plot is. But he's quoted as saying - "maybe the Engineers and Gods are using them this way.."
You can't see why everybody is guessing this plot device now? I agree it's tired, and I hope it's not the case, but when Scott wonders out loud about it..
Edit - and I'll add, maybe it is mis-direction (if that's what you implied). It should be

IF the xeno's were indeed a method of planetary cleanup for the Engineer's, why? Why go through all of the lengthy trouble it would amount to for them to use the xeno's this way? Imagine they want to clean up earth this way. It would take a long time to clean us out. And then what? What do the Engineer's do then? Kill the billions of xeno's? Perhaps they can control them and collect them? If they do kill the xeno's after then why not use that "killing power" to just exterminate us in the first place. Loss of SJ life in that war? Perhaps?
I think perhaps the xeno's were an accidental creation... something that the crew of the prometheus did while messing around with the SJ's biological materials... hmmmmm.
I just hope we get answers rather than a whole lot of ambiguity. I don't mind implication, just make it worth it!

BUT I will say this! .... If Ridley is the mind that I believe him to be, he'll take that 13 year old idea and do something more profound and interesting with it.... It won't be as 'black & white' as they are weapons.... He'd 'essentially' be killing his own babies....or what is left of their infamy. They would become background noise.
