It might we just don't see them in the trailers. It is possible that there is more than one Derelict and Prome takes out a few of them before bumping into one. This question will probably go unanswered until the complete movie is viewed.?

I believe there may be a spec sheet floating around about the Prome showing no weapons, but Weyland / Vickers still may have hide a few secrets on board.

They have flamethrowers. And pistols. Oh, and an axe!

Maybe but i doubt any real major ones.
This is a Science and Exploration vessel and on Earth our ones are not armed to the teeth like a Warship.
Ok so Star Trek their vessels are all pretty well armed, but Star Trek is set in a universe with many many different races and some very hostile. Others untrustworthy.
At this time and in this movie, i assume that the crew have not come across any other Alien life as far as intelegent and advanced and that this mission could be the first Contact so to speak.

It's a science vessel, not a frigate. If you start adding cannon you need staff who know how to use them and maintain them. Think about the red tape Weyland Yutani would have to go through to convince ESA or NASA that a set of cannons and missiles is essential to the mission, assuming they'd be allowed to purchase them in the first place. AND you have to factor in the reality that combustible propellants don't work in zero gravity, so it would have to be some wacky new system that uses electricity as a propellant, or whatever. Remember, they're out there to make new friends, not to kill them!

Some of you apparently have not been paying close enough attention to the timeline... Weyland Industries has become the defacto arms supplier for the globe and has even acquired the likes of Northtrup Grumman & BAE systems. It doesnt have to purchase weapons from anyone. IT, is the actual firm that MAKES THEM.
Its a multi-TRILLION dollar enterprise more POWERFUL than actual world governments. It can probably pretty much do ANYTHING it wants. I dont think Peter Weyland gives a you know what about "red tape".
I had brought this stuff up in a topic a couple weeks ago. I think we will be seeing weapons of some sort in this.

Based on how thoroughly the "Prometheus" comes apart when it impacts the alien croissant ship, and how little apparent effect it has on the croissant's flaky pastry crust, I doubt that W-Y knows much about the military strengths/weaknesses of the alien technology they are/maybe pursuing...

And ALL the MORE reason to go for a suicide run, when you have fired on it with the best you have and saw virtually no effect.

@CanadaPhil
Definitely a last ditch attempt!
I'm inclined to think that Janek didn't mean to crash his ship -
My "evidence" - I think Janek says "heaaaadddsssupppp!" in the trailer just before impact - that is, I think he's surprised.
Btw, you've posted great insights on this board...

Thanks,
I actually dont think they were contemplating a suicide run at all.
I think they PISS off the Alien vessel with pot shots, and the Alien then turns to face them. I think it is the ALIEN that rams the Prometheus, and not what is implied in the trailer.
I guess we'll see.
