Mmmmm I had always assumed that LV426 was discovered after LV233 but having looked at the timeline on the official site here are some key dates. 2034 Heliades 1st FTL ship launched 2039 LV426 discovered 2068 David 7 launched 2073 Prometheus mission begins planning 2085 Prometheus launched 2105-22 Nostromo arrives at LV-426 It’s interesting that the Company knew about LV-426 for about 60 years prior to the Nostromo mission. I mean, we all knew they knew, but I just didn’t think they knew for so long. If the Heliades went to LV426 perhaps mankind has interacted with SJs before

2122 is when the Nostromo landed on LV-426.

yeah, snorkelbottom i was covering myself for unknown dates. If Alien was set 2122 and Prometheus was set 30 years before, I'm assuming they spent a bit of time in hibernation to account for the missing time.

perhaps the prometheus mission is not the first mission to these planets. this might explain why weyland created a recording to whoever might be going to LV-223, sort of an "in case we fail". the derelict on LV-426 might have happened before this too. noone ever said that the events would tie in chronologically, only that they would tie in.
