wonderful video, ty for the post, man. That interviewer is awesome, and Ridley is very gracious and seems fantastically nice in all these interviews...

@Frantz
No, there a couple of things that are very significant - one is that he is not just repeating himself, he's adding some things he never said. Either intentionally or just as a result of the way his mind works, he is adjusting history just a little a bit, presumably so it locks into Prometheus better, and by so doing revealing some more of the intent of Prometheus:
Now, they are not just, "eggs", as a cargo - they are, "viral time-bombs", as a cargo - where something had "got loose", "evolved" and taken the pilot out.
Also, he states the signal was a distress signal, by intention?
That seems odd as it directly contradicts Alien, where what was decoded of the signal was interpreted as a warning - so I'm very curious indeed about how that is resolved.

I think I was right about that signal, it was not and never intended for anyone but his own race to let them know of the forced landing and breach of the mission and the ship itself by the one or more biological organisms from the cargo. what I winder most is this, was that particular Derelict ship on it's way to destroy or "TerraForm" Earth?

If the original derelict is millions of years old, then that does more, I think, than merely imply that it is not the same ship we see in Prometheus. And there goes the fanwank theory that humans had anything to do with the creation of the xeno.
April 26, 2012
It makes sense that the Xenos have to be transported in 'egg-form' because once matured they wouldn't survive long ... only lives for a few days (a week?)... according to Giger ... so in egg-form they're in some sort of sleep stasis ... until some plonker comes along and pokes it ...

This link should be added to the 'news' section on this site. It is very relevant, brand new, and clears up more than one theory put up on this forum. Great post, great thread.

My bad, it was the guy from the LA Times who got him to spill it all !!!
Kudos to "FW" & "NRLP" who orginally broke that story but did not notice the content the way I did!
and you were right, my bad, he did not say "On It's way to earth" but it is IMmplied I believe!

One thing I love about Scott is he's good, he knows he's good but he just stays riiiiiight below the surface of being an ego maniac. Well, maybe not an ego maniac but just below being full of himself. He balances that tight rope better than anyone I've ever seen. And if there's anyone in the business who desreves to be an ego maniac it's Scott.
Decent interview. I enjoyed the "best day" question. I thought that was a really original question. I didn't think much of Scott's answer though.
What I found most interesting is what he said about the future of Blade Runner. Gives a lot to form ideas around and begin speculation about.

I don't really see anything that was revealed in this interveiw that hasn't been revealed a million times before. He said in the 2003 commentary that the ship was carrying bioweapons and that they got out of control and infected the SJ. I really am surprised as I thought this was all common knowledge for Alien buffs.
Seems like Frantz has my back on this. We can't be the only 2 though.
