MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 5:23 AMA poster by the name Lethal_Mutation has put up a incredible gif from a scene in the featurette where David has activated the star map hologram. Pay close attention to the Engineers what they are doing.
The gif can be seen at this link. Scroll down and look for poster Lethal_Mutation

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 6:37 AMI'd love to, but I can't seem to access various links put up in different topics today, and it's driving me mad. I'm not sure if it's down to continuing bugs with this site at the moment, or not.
However, I'll certainly nip directly over to the Prometheusforum.net site to root around. Thanks for the heads-up, as I'd certainly like a closer look at that.

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 7:21 AM@Shilliam ...
That scene was also in the TV Spot 2 and was discussed back then ... the new footage, from the Featurette, just confirms what I already said (and posted) about the 3 (now 4 - one in the chair) humanoids being in the hologram projection ...
Previous chat HERE ... page 2 ...
Helping out with the new guys who 'have' missed a shit load of posts and discussions ... it is impossible to keep up with the chats ... so maybe a 'link-back' is probably a good idea to put them in the loop ;) ...

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 8:41 AMI had a hard time finding the animated gif he was talking about - they moved it to another thread, but here's a direct link to the image..

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 8:51 AMI must admit I do like their 'slow' movement pose (could be the projection itself) ... that's quite soothing? ... as in the have (had?) all the time in the world ... probably due to their height ... similar to Giraffes lol ...

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 9:00 AMI looked around there and found these by "Jonsey"..

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 9:02 AMIt is cool.
Cant wait to find out what this scene is really all about. I keep thinking this is supposed to represent some kind of mission log recording..??
Could the one bending over to pick something up be loading up an URN in the CANON? Hahahaha!
or is he removing the "byproduct" of a completed "Gun/Chair" cycle, that then goes down a chute/track to the bay below?
; )

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 9:06 AMyea I ain't even speculating anymore cause it's so gorgeous to look at the room I am just waiting to see it play itself out now and not obsessing about it anymore cause I know in due course I am going to see and understand all that in it's obvious infinite glory, I mean that whole scene man is just Gorgeous.

MemberDeaconApr-26-2012 9:41 AMThey do apear to be holograms, and maybe the same as the guy running in that one giff.
What does this mean....
Is it some kind of play back recording of old events?
Are these Space Jockeys living in another dimention?
Or are they indeed like Ghosts, and that they need a physical body, maybe thats what the suits are for? Maybe one actually takes Davids Body much like how the Vampires did on Planet of the Vampires?

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 11:20 AMWhat's with the "hole" around the elbow/forearm that changes shape in the gif's?
I wonder if that is an Sj running in that hologram. What makes an SJ run like that??
As far as the hologram in the map room, is this their communication device? Are those SJ's somewhere else in the universe? Do they have matter teleportation technology using the suits/chair/"telescope"? Do they need a physical body first, like someone above mentioned? So many questions...can't wait until they can be answered!

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 11:21 AMRemember that interview with Benedict wong where he said " It’s a bit…y’know how you’ve got..so well its like an alien rom com of how the mum and dad met, and he’s got a limp, and hes a ghost" maybe theres a little bit of truth amongst all the bs?

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 11:32 AMHaha Dave ... that would be cool ... they're on their planet and this is their hi-tec version of a videophone? :) ... there's a good tie in on second movie about their homeworld then ... possibly? ...

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 11:38 AMLooks like the SJ is either running for his life, running into combat, or running around up to no good, setting up traps and the like.

RickK
MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 11:44 AMLooks to me like in the first few frames he's looking behind him, almost like he's running AWAY from something.

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 12:01 PMIt seems to me that two of the Engineers in this might be holograms and the 3rd one (closest to David, bending over) could be corporeal (the one who is still alive when David arrives).
I could not figure out anything about the "running" hologram until now, but I do feel that it is an image of an Engineer. It could be a recording of historical events or a "safety video":
“In the event that the xenos begin to gestate and reproduce, your large flamethrower CANNOT be used successfully as a salvation device. All you can do is RUUUUUUUUUUUUUN.” ;•)
The animated .GIF suggest to me that IF one of the figures is corporeal and alive that David may be collaborating with him/them. Based on the tidbits about David's linguistic ability from the Weyland site, and analysis of all of the fragments of writing I've been able to find in all the clips, it seems plausible to me that in a very short period of time (with access to the correct source material) David could become fluent enough to engage in two-way communication with a living Engineer or with an Engineer AI (for example the monument's or the juggernaut's "computer" or "archive".)
I'm compiling my findings on the orthography separately.

I think the running hologram may be a space jockey being caught by one of those floating ball scanners, because not only is he a hologram but the whole corridor is as well

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 1:03 PMI updated my previous post (about the new Hologram scene), about there being definitely three humanoids ... I have updated it now to FOUR ... there's one sitting in the chair :) ...

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 1:38 PMim loving this...very intriguing discovery. Im beginning to doubt whether there are any living SJs at all in this film - even at all. Are we looking at an extinct race killed by their own technology (the hologram is a neat way of explaining what has happened to the crew, and us the audience)....does one of teh crew seize upon the opportunity to become God like? June cant come soon enough

Good call ...
@JP ...
Well someone was quoted as saying there's a 'survivor' (singular) left ... that was posted a few days ago ... along with some other interesting bits ... damn it can't remember where now ...

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 2:02 PMRickK, I love your video you posted. Tell me. At the very end. All of the circular objects you can see on the big sphere in the center. All derelicts?

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 2:04 PMI can't help but think the Space Jockey scene, with the seat unbuckling from him, is actually being shown to us backwards. In the movie, it actually encloses itself around the jockey as he sits down. I don't know why I think this. I can't prove it.

MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 2:21 PMIf it's a "videophone," then what's to stop the SJs on the other end from finishing the job started by whoever takes off in the ship that ends up being rammed?
kurt
MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 4:30 PMThe running figure looks more like someone in a space suite. The head looks too big to be the SJ.
The hologram looks like the SJ on the far right is saying "calm down now" to the one walking into frame. The walking SJ looks like he's walking with a purpose while the third SJ looks like he's bowing in submission maybe. Perhaps this one is about to be punished for something? Either way, I think it's a recording.
kurt
MemberOvomorphApr-26-2012 4:32 PMNot literally saying calm down of course. The gesturing I mean :)
