The USCSS Prometheus-Declassified!

I'm not an aeronautical engineer (obviously) but I thought this might be worth it. That, and the image is pretty sweet. It's pretty speculative.

Nice work, btw!!!

I think the observation lounge and main cockpit listings need to be swapped around............

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

@Cypher: Look again at the trailer where the captain is piloting the ship. That bottom glass area seems to be the bridge that the captain was on with that recognizable window that he was in front of, no? Maybe the top area is the "sky bridge" like on a boat.

that escape pod would suck... at least in my opinion. it looked like it popped out pretty damn fast for my liking.
i know you want to escape fast but i bet i would be hurling all over the inside. i feel sorry for anyone who had to recover me.

Why is the fireproof tile on the top of the nose and not the bottom part? I mean technically, when a ship enters the atmosphere the heat is always directed at the bottom of the ship like the shuttles encounter. Shilliam Watner is seeking answers again.

There seems to be a retracted one at the bottom as well to protect the bridge during re-entry.

Glass bottom... That always reminds me of a Freudian slip... for women. As in, a little icy feeling in the bottom.

Here is an image to compare it to, probably a basis for the TC's work.

I was ever under the impression that the structure above the glassy bridge is the main scape pod. This is why it has it´s own glassy bridge, that StarbeastEngineer referenced as "observation lounge". It´s even referenced (but not located) here:

The Class D Crew Escape Module, capable of automatic medium-range navigation and landing. I think we will see it detaching from Prometheus in the final part of the movie; this is how Shawn escape, while Vickers escape in an individual pod. The mistery is, why they both didn´t escaped in the same boat...

You just know the film's final climax aka Act IV when everything's cooled down and you think she's gonna go to sleep but soon realize there will be no sleeping for anyone because she has to battle the bastards of space hellspawn one last goddamn time. You know that scene. And you know more than anything that it's going to all go down in the lifeboat. Has not every film in the trilogy began or ended (or both) in an emergency space raft of some kind? The precedent has been firmly set, now; will it be broken?

Oh ya and what I probably meant to originally say is: good work on the specs for the ship. I agree completely that the lower glass area on the nose is the bridge. As for the interior aspects of the Heliades class ship check out the expanded tabs on the weyland industries site. So much thought and conceptual foresight put into every aspect of this film. Love it :)

I read this press release from Weyland: "Weyland is committed to building healthier worlds. To maintain a healthy environment on the ship, all surfaces inside the ship are treated with a proprietary nano-enzyme coating that consumes and sterilizes all biological material upon contact."
So you're in the clear. Hurl away!
Fall down seven times, get up eight.

The bottom lounge would likely be for landing and the top observation for interstellar flight. My two cents!

Anyone else think the ship looks like a great big bird? The glass floored bridge area is its tongue. Eyes on top... Yeah I'm seeing things maybe but I think the symbolism is indeed there.
April 27, 2012
@Necro ...
Yeah ... I thought it looked Eagle-ish ... or some sort of bird of prey ... no NOT Klingon :) ...

Even though we know its not real, the design does seem strange from what we already know about manned spaced travel and the problems of re-entering an atmosphere.
The upper frontal area does seem to have a tiled look to it. And that original release with the FIREPROOF WINDSCREEN notation seemed ridiculous.
But...... Could it be that Prometheus is actually flipped over & INVERTED when first entering an atmosphere?
