MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:38 PMi dont know. i just watched the behind the scene footage in Russian, and I got this feeling in my stomach like i was ruining it for myself. ive speculated so much, and followed so many other speculations, really trying to figure out the secrets of this movie, ive realized that all i really want is to be wrong about it all and to be completely surprised.
i feel like ive seen a lot of the movie already, and i kindof regret it...its just too damn far off.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:41 PMit's all very exciting for sure, but even the russian clip today is giving out more than we knew. I may try and watch a new trailer, morbid curiosity? It is getting close to release time, maybe those of us who don't want to spoil the film should be careful of what we/they watch, yes.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:43 PMI personally don't mind seeing more footage of the film. If they released a novelization a week in advance, I'd read it prior to seeing the movie (same with the delayed Art of Prometheus book). My stance is: enter the movie "armed" with pre-knowledge so that you can focus on the visuals and great cinematography. The plot may be hard to keep up with if you're juggling everything at once. Just MHO.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:49 PMI'll watch it.
I'm not yet confident that our assumptions about "sequence of events", "what happens to whom, how and why", &etc. are accurate at this point. So, the only things that can be spoiled are my preconceptions.
I for one, don't believe that the SJ's look like the "blue guys".
And if they do, I'm not confident that they are "aliens". Probably more like an alien "interface" to the human race.
Apart from lots of running around, occupational hazards, flamethrowers, explosions, horrific alien architecture, and bad weather, I'm not sure we really know what's up.
Can't w8t for June 8!

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:51 PMI trust, that whatever we are officially shown, will not ruin the experience of finally watching this extremely plot-dependent project in its full-length glory. So much effort has gone into keeping this plot a secret, that it wouldn´t make any sense, if they spilled their guts now.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:54 PMI think with just a little more that a month away I'm gonna skip any new trailer, of course curiosity may get the better of me but I think I can hold out a month.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:55 PMI agree with abordoli. Before I saw Alien in the theaters back in '79, I had read the novelization, the Illustrated Story, the photonovel, and "The Book of Alien". None of this, I felt, detracted from being scared out of my pants and having nightmares for the next several months (hey, I was only 8 years old). It gave me a better sense of the characters as well.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:09 PMWhen I heard about that London event where 20 minutes or so of footage was shown, that was the end of my following new information. I didn't follow up what was at that event and my knowledge is limited to that date

MemberFacehuggerApr-27-2012 3:10 PMI'll watch whatever is officially released. I imagine that they are releasing things with the concern of "spoiling it" for people. Why else would all the actors and everyone involved in this project be sworn to secrecy, just to release stuff giving it all away?

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:53 PMIt's my believe that our assumptions of Prometheus will be way off and that there is so much that we have not seen that all the official released info only amounts to a blurry picture of what's really going on at best and the only one who knows for sure is Scott and he's not talking. So yes I will watch the new trailer.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:01 PMHey Darthmongo I was 8 years old too when I saw Alien and I remember puking-out my dinner after the chest bursting scene with Kane and for the next four weeks I would always check under my bed to make sure a facehugger wouldn't attack me in my sleep.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:05 PMTrailers are an art form unto themselves and the people involved in making them know what they're doing. Everything that is shown is shown for a reason and one reason only: to entice theatre goers. The only thing that drives an audience to see a film is curiosity. Everything I've seen so far only makes me want to see more. Like some sort of insatiable positive feedback system the more I see or discover the more it drives me to search. 41 days is still too long

Yeah Trailers are designed to tease and misguide, the music from a trailer is almost always never in the movie, many scenes are in some cases reversed or flipped, items are deleted or added, some times scenes from the trailer are not even in the movie at all.
Its all there to trick you and make you want more

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:30 PMi am watching it. i never get why people dont like spoilers, i could honestly watch a movie ten times and still like it just as much... as long as it holds up.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:52 PMPerhaps we can have "spoiler" or "new" attatched to anything involving new pictures or trailer. I firmly believe Ridley wont leak out too much and based on everything I have read on this site I still have no *&^%^%&^ clue what this movie entails so a trailer is hardly going to kill the excitement for me.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:54 PMI'll watch it. So far we've seen several trailers, tv spots etc "and yet" :) the movie is still shrouded in mystery, more or less. Nevertheless I think we're in for some big, unexpected surprises/turns in this film.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:56 PMI'm starving and I need a new trailer to feed my anticipation.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 6:50 PMI'm on the fence. The ‘problem’ (for me) is not watching the trailers per se. They are carefully crafted by pros (and these better than most) to generate MORE interest. I think these are also being manipulated in a post-production manner to obscure many of the details which will be much more clear and ‘right there’ on the screens in the theaters. I think they're literally blacking stuff out for what shows up on iTunes.
HOWEVER:
The trailer editors assume that their work is simply being WATCHED (by the general public) and NOT incessantly ANALYZED in the way that is going on here. This is a special environment. If all of this brainpower were not being applied to all of the details (and by ‘details’ I mean EVERY FRAME) that the trailer editors assume will be seen (and perceived) only in the most fleeting way, there would be far fewer ‘spoilers’ on the table for me to be afraid of.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 6:58 PMThe power of this community (and its partner sites in the footer) are VERY foreboding! Yes, a very special environment indeed. We are perhaps the top echelon of Alien enthusiasts all put together in one place. We practically know more about this universe than O'Bannon and RS himself. Lindlof, whatever, doesn't seem to have a clue.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 10:09 PMI'm just selfish.....I want to go in as cold as possible, in my case Fox is preaching to the choir....I'm in, I'm sold, you can't keep me out, over and done with...IM GOING.
I know that they haven't revealed much in the trailers that are artfully tailored to direct one's attention in a desired direction, I know that. What I have suspected since the beginning is that there is possibly an hours worth of story that isnt represented in the trailers, that is the reason for this massive wall of secrecy and I dont think it's been hidden because Ridley doesnt have confidence in it....its because he's going to catch everyone off guard with it.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 10:49 PMSome people do and know why it's up at this moment in time. It'll stay up until circumstances resolve themselves. It seems that more Canadians know than Americans which isn't surprising to me.
