Will prometheus "ruin" or "enhance" Alien?

I think the problem people are having is that the chair suit so far looks like hard plastic, and not in any way organic. I'm hoping that there will be a few more render passes done to give it the 'proper' look.

To me it seems the bones are on the outside of the suit. When you look at the SJ walking towards the gun or telescope thingy the chest and face piece open up then likely close together over the SJ.
The ecto suits or whatever you care to call them hanging in the hallway also look to have bones showing on the outside. It also looks like these ecto suits will bond to SJ. Perhaps the SJ's lack internal ribcages so an ecto suit protects it for them.
Judging by the fact the original space jockey suit from Alien had it's bones molded to the chair makes me think it's just one big integrated ecto suit which opens up and allows the SJ to sit inside of it. It is highly plausible.

Technically the SJ Wears the Ship, the jockey chair wraps around him intergrating him into the ship enveloping him

I BET that Scott and Giger didnt expect that indepth discussion about the decay status of the exoscelettal design when they designed it in´78..;)
I really think that Giger was glad he could transform his designs 1:1 into this huge sculpture at all..
now, 33 years later, when technology is much more advanced this details could get a problem to explain that old ´78 designs IMO.
I was quite pissed when I saw the biosuit in action in the trailer, when the SJ/ engineer is sitting in the chair

Gotta say, the Space Jockey been just a suit is downplaying the mystery of this initial Alien, the thing that bursts out of your chest is merely a parasite even if it is a beautifully honed and in accordance to the Alien movie utterly infallible and impossible to overpower..
There is a bigger picture at play here, I'm guessing there is another alien at the helm here, it takes the form of a humanoid yet it's all a front for the true creature. But I doubt this will be explored. It seems to be the logical step forward.

Well i think as far as the chair ataching itself to the Space Jockey we have to ask why? But look at some things we now see about the Derelict.
1) The Engineers are seen moving around inside the temple complex and Derelict with no helmets on, the human crew also take theirs off inside. This means that the helmet/mask is there to help the Jockey Breath in enviroments where they would not be able to without the helmet. But if the humans can breath inside the ship but not outside on the planets surface, we have to wonder why does a Engineer need a helmet when he is in the ship if the ship has some kind of internal life support.
2) Why does the Space Jockey seem to be connected to the chair, as if he is being strapped into it.
Well the answer is with the Chair/Cannon and the Derelict if you look at the top of the Derelict ship has some kind of window at the top of it in the centre which we would assume is above the Controll Room/Room with the Pilot Chair.
Now if the Chair is a Cannon of somekind, in order to fire it may have to rise up a bit further and then have the window open up so the cannon can fire out of it.
What happens if a human was to go into space with no space suit in a shuttle and just sit on a seat of a craft say like a Future Fighter Plane and then see the cockpit open up.
1) The Human would be sucked into the vaccum of space.
2) They would not be able to breath.
Thus i feel the Suit comprises of a Helmet to allow the Jockey to breath while the window above the ship is opened and he is strapped into his seat by some kind of Bio Mechanical Harness to prevent him from being sucked into space.
I really think thats the simple answer to why he needs a mask/helmet in that chair and why he has to be strapped to it.
