David is the villain of the film. Not because he finds the map room or because he messes with the advanced technology found within. It is because he actively seeks to use the crew as guinea pigs. The liquid seen in certain trailers on his finger is possibly genetic material. Each container in the amuple room has some genetic coding. David begins splicing genetic materials to create something not nice (possibly enhancing or creating the infections of the crew.) Wouldn't be interesting of David 8 was either the creator, re-discoverer, or enhancer of a certain alien form (the xenomorph). Vickers is there to keep an eye on David as much as the mission. Why do I believe this? Because in the advertisement for the David 8 he says he can do jobs that others might find unethical, and he does not feel emotion. Also he is seen many times alone and messing with Engineer tech. So from the start, possibly in the interest of science or what have you, David is the villain who dooms the crew of the Prometheus.

If Alien has given us any insight it is that Weyland Androids tend to be a be a bit twitchy. That being said it has already been done... So maybe we can expect something new!

the a2's were always a bit twitchy................ he is definitely doing something bad or naive, but definitely important to the chain of events

Also Michael Fassbender's starpower is stronger with each movie. I'm not saying he has problems taking smaller roles (Haywire), but I wouldn't be surprised if his David character is the main antagonist of the story.

On the topic of Fassbender's David as villain, one needs to look at his recent roles: In HAYWIRE, he is a hired assassin ordered to kill his partner. In SHAME, he is a bisexual adventurist In INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, he plays a British spy pretending to be a Nazi In XMEN FIRST CLASS, he turns his vengeful obsession into villainy As you can see, Fassbender roles seem to be full of lies, deceits & double-crosses.

Nah, too boring and has been done before with Ash. I think David is the only survivor and is transformed by the alien tech into a living being. Possibly, and I know this sounds hokey, becoming the first man with the help of worm holes or time travel ie. revealing the 'origins' of man. I absolutely acknowledge that this is completely implausible. But it would fill some plot holes (who is the character on Earth in the "a king has his reign..." shot)

Does this mean a David 8 running on logic systems alone could act as a spy, assassin, mad scientist? Is David Vicker's "bitch", conducting the assignments that none of the humans are privy to? Is Vicker's happy with this arrangement until such time as David questions her motives (hence the push and shove between Vickers & David seen in the trailers)? Is Vickers a disinherited/disowned/dismayed Weyland family member who has a point to prove?

Why not. After all he is sad when faced to unnecessary violence (so what about necessary violence?), he does things that other crewmembrers view as "distressing or unethical".

Yeah, the little "security breach" on the weyland site last week foretold/warned of as much to those fortunate enough to have seen it for the 10-20 minutes it was up...Interesting stuff...

Except in light of R. Scott's view that the derelict from Alien is in fact millions of years old the Xenomorph already exists prior to the events in Prometheus and therefore could not be created by any member of the Prometheus' crew.

@latynhyopercube: LOL dude, that's the plot of one of those wacky "leaked scripts" posted a while ago... several trailers have proved them wrong. The character you are talking about is the mutated human/SJ Hybrid that HOLLOWAY becomes after David infects him with the black biomechaformer fluid...
