MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 7:43 AMNow I have read some discussions and topics on fans wanting the authentic xeno in Prometheus (probably the film will make justice to them during the last 8 minutes as promised) as well as others who don't want the original xeno to make an appearance in Prometheus as they consider it an already dentrimental figure...
Well, both can have their share of satisfaction with Prometheus.
RS said clearly xeno DNA will be everywhere. That said, want it or not, xenos as a general function will be completely present in the film. Maybe we are going to see some forefathers of the xenos, other new groundbreaking creatures (as RS has said too), but in the back of our minds we will all know and feel that we are going to be watching an evolutionary process that will finally lead to something solid in the last 8 minutes (the good old xeno that is...or a proto-form of it...the eggs....a facehugger...who knows).
The trailers have already revealed it...the cobra thing resembles the face hugger...the other thing that melted through the helmet of a crew member...
the completely merciless attack the crew suffers from this new ragne of born to kill creatures...to me all obviously belonging in the same species...that of the xeno..
So it's all there...xenos are there...don't fool yourselves...and I like it very much...I mysself wouldn't also like to see Prometheus filled with the good old xeno...might be not that striking. RS knows that too. I believe he has created new genuine horror creatures that are following the life cycle of the one of 1979 film. Can you just imagine that? Isn't that perfect?
The sound clip also proves how hostile and powerful these creatures can be...ringing any bells of 1979? Oh yes!
I think this is the best way to pay homage to the original: Design a world where everything smells, feels and breaths xeno, but not exactly ...not fully...till you finally see it...
It is said that the best desire, is the one that hasn't been fulfilled yet...And we are going to get this kind of mindset throughout this film...It isn't only about the xeno , but about the entire universe of who we are and what is our purpose that makes this film important as RS said. But to stick to the point of the thread, xenos will accompany us throughout the film and will be playing a crucial part for helping us find our roots...at least according to this film.
If we find out in this film, that we are all having some xeno DNA in our blood, that would be incredibly fantastic!

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 8:16 AMI do believe the creatures we will see in this film are some sort of pre-xeno stages... They probably first turn into the creature we see in the original Alien when they get in contact with other life forms. They have probably been engineered by the SJs for some kind of horrific purpose.

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 8:20 AMCould be the encore to the concert in the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" analogy that Lindelof talks about. After reading that Ridley said there will be various forms of alien life, it seems like these new creatures are the new songs that Ridley's playing. Everyone wants to hear the old classics, but the band can't just come out and play all the old tunes. They've gotta display their new stuff in their new concerts & keep the new stuff somewhat familiar to please the fans. However, they know that they still have to "satisfy" the fans of the old stuff in some way; so, in the encore they play one of their best/most popular songs. "Satisfaction". But, you don't get it until the encore, after you think the show is winding down.

@Mala'kak: Nice metaphor!Trully. I like it. Pretty much on target!

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 8:31 AMI really think he meant a little bit more by throwing out the song title "Satisfaction" too. And he might have meant that we'll be satisfied by the encore.

MemberDeaconMay-04-2012 9:06 AM@Mala'kak Spot on...
Ridley said.... This is not a Alien Prequel, then changed to not a direct one, and then changed to we will see Alien Xeno but only evidence of its DNA.
While all the time they made the Rolling Stones comment.....
Then Ridley comes out and say that 8 mins of the movie near the end will provide the link to Alien, then latter he said you will see 100% Alien DNA and the Alien Fanboys will get their wish, get their answers and will leave satisfied.
You need to look at the Clues, we will see something from the Alien Cycle, we will get a explanation of how/when/why the Derelict was on LV426 and Why.
But look at the holes in the plots the story and what you need explain!
1) Why no Sarcophagus in Alien Derelict?
2) Why does Alien Derelict Egg Chamber seem big, if its on the ship when one in Prometheus has no such large chamber.
3) Why does it look like the Jockey in Alien had been there a lot longer than 30 years, and it dont mean Millions in what Ridley said he said there Tech is Millions of years old. Mankind is what 35-50'000 or 6000 years by the Bible but you and i have not been here that long.
4) If the Eggs was a Weapon Created in this movie, when how from what we seen in trailers. Surely the Urns may turn into Eggs or not?
5) Why do we see the Xeno Mural if the Xeno is created in this movie, is is a vission of the future?
6) Why are the Jockeys Dead well most, why do they run for their lives in that Hologram Scene, something had gone wrong in the past and killed them off? Was it each other? some other Race? Surely not Cobra? Or could it be another early experiment/creation gone wrong like the Xeno.
All these to me add up to the Xeno being a creation or finding from years ago that nearly killed off its creators or some experiment unleash by one evil Engineer who wants to be the only GOD?
Maybe they qaurntine the outbreak but then try and get rid of it and hence send it off on a Derelict to dispose of, or place in a safe place for some latter use, but its just not safe to keep on the same planet as the Engineers or a planet it would have created life on. The Baron LV426 was maybe not far away enough but when one of the Cargo gets lose its the nearest baron and safest place.
Xenos cant fly ships (i assume) they cant reproduce on a Baron World with no Lifeforms to us as a Host.
Thus we will not see no Xeno, i think we will see the Derelict on V426 and its Cargo and a explaination maybe, it would tell of how it was created but not really show us....
Bit like me saying Alien is about a Alien lifeform starts as Egg, releases Organism that implants Embryo that grows in Host and then breaks out and then Grows into a 7ft killing machine....
I covered the Xeno but only in slightest.
I think we will see the Derelict in Alien, we may see it take off, we may just see it in space and see the Eggs and then one opens and then show the Derelict have to land, we may not see the Face Hugger we may not see it get to the Pilot but we will see enough to give us answer that in our minds gives us the answers we asked.
This scene will not be in the time line of the movie, like Shaw as a Girl with her Dad scene is not in timeline of the movie, its a dream. The explanation to the Xeno and Derelict on LV426 will be told in a visual narative of a time long before 2090, just like the Water Fall Scene is.

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 9:54 AM@ markos and BigDave
I agree on many points by the both of you... I posted a similar topic about the space cobra and facehuggers being related. Didn't get many responses so I guess it wasn't a popular thought.
My thing about Ridley is do you think he is gonnna spoil things and say o and yeah their are xeno's at the end of the movie!!!! Of course freaking not! He knows if he were to come out and say that half of us would be like oh, ok well maybe I'll wait and see what other people think first.
My thinking is the last 8mins will focus on the SJ on the derelict and what happens. I feel it will be a very quite and creepy feel. Then we will see something slowly bursting out of its chest. They may not show exactly what happens after that but it would be a great tease. Plus they wouldn't have to show the creature after getting out of the chest. Could be a quick chest splat then bam credits! But who the hell knows that's just my perfect world...

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 10:02 AMHmm. Bear in mind though that the mural already depicts something that is one step away from the Xeno. Perhaps one of the crew or the engineers 'tweek' this form and hey presto - it's xeno time.

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 1:42 PMWish he could have come up with something better, the bugs are so overdone and not scary at this point, the concept stuff I've seen looks ridiculous, honestly I wish he would have steered completely clear of Giger as the guy's stuff just doesn't seem as creepy as it once did. And I think the cobra things are a complete fail. Is anyone really creeped out by those things at all?

markos_prometheus
MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 2:27 PM@jackburton: My friend thanks a lot for your input. Don't get me wrong. If you go back and watch again the chest burster table scene, it might be not so impactful with todays cinema effects. I believe what made that scene creepy was the unexpected complete violence, and that we were already sucked in the movie so much that it took us all by the same surprise it must have taken Kane...
It's not so much the effect, but how it is used. I would really beg you to listen to that scene with the cobra, I mean this piece of recording 20th Century Fox let out for us. It sound so visceral and brutal, that I believe when we see it, we will forget very easily the chest burster of 1979. I believe it's going to take us all by storm....It sounds so frightening...imagine its looks...sound like it is messing up the crew member step by step...major mes up....I hope this would be very rewarding for you and us...Now I myself don't really want cheap or expensive 3D modelled monsters as you say too.But judging on the overall use of the 3D, it might prove groundbreaking! There is a post with this recording..If you haven't heard it yet, please do!
Once again thank you for what you say.

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 2:54 PMI would love to see it the other way around. The xeno as being an early experiment and the monsters being far newer and coming in many various vicious forms. A refinement on the Original beast. Way more shapes and sizes and able to adapt even more.
Xeno in the traditional sense is played out. AvP:R and endless shitty novels and comics killed it.

MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 2:57 PM@Shane: Thumbs up!Totally agree. Nice turn around you thought up there!

markos_prometheus
MemberOvomorphMay-04-2012 3:02 PM@BigDave: very nice thinking! I do believe something will happen like what you say more or less in the last few minutes.
I just believe it is not going to be a summarizing take, but something much more detailed and up to the point , so we will be left with certainty about what happens next...
And what about RS thinking of making a Prometheus 2? That is if he wasn't just jocking or carried away by his entusiasm from returning back to the joy of this genree he himself created.
Hmmm....
