Is anyone considering not being the first in line to see Prometheus?

Hi all, I'm old enough to remember the responses to "Alien"...people (allegedly) leaving the cinema only to vomit in the bathrooms due to certain scenes ... Is anyone honest enough to admit that the "Milburn/Fifield" audio has them somewhat apprehensive? While not necessarily gory, it sounds disturbing... Are there any of a sensitive* nature among us? *No, I'm not being disparaging.

it sounds disturbing for certain. there are some types of gore, where the scene is deliberate and drawn out, that can make it hard for me to sit still, but i've never gotten sick, or left a room because of a movie. and im not interested in being first in line to see the movie if that was a literal question...the only movie i've ever gone out of my way to see because i simply couldnt wait Ninja Turtles...and by "go out of my way" i mean my parents actually took me out of school early one day to see it. im still not sure why to this day, because its not at all like them, and it didnt seem like it was a matter of convenience.

no, im going to the biggest most expensive theater this crap place has to offer. heated seats, alcohol and appetizers, a button on the chair to call the staff. over 21 only, no talking, no cell phones, no disturbing others or they will throw you out on your arse. im going on opening day, and if anyone tries to ruin my movie experience by breaking the rules they better hope the staff kicks them out before i get to them. it will be some epic "kirk on gorn" action.

As I have said previously, the audio clip sounds really disturbing, but (at least in my case) the most of its disturbing aspect comes from the lack of visuals, and all is left to imagination. I feel that once I get to see that scene in the film, it won't have the same effect. I am not a big cinema goer, but I have never left the cinema before the ending credits, my best response to a poor movie is sleeping through it! When I was a kid I had to stop watching Alien (and then Aliens a few years later) on TV because my parents told me to, though I admit I was scared and strained enough to carry on, but I was hooked. I don't think I would leave the cinema for Prometheus, my biggest fear would be leaving afterwards in utter delusion.

Humpf bella i totally disagree with you ...a true fan dont need alcohol , appetizers ,a button to annoy the staff and heated seats ... a true fan sit and absorb the experience even in the worst theatre of the town . At the end he quietly rise and think about it for the next hours ...

Alcohol and beverages? No thanks. I usually don't eat/drink during movies/concerts. A couple months ago I went to a huge concert, got a pint and soon enough I had to leave to take my longest leak ever. I missed an entire song because of the seemingly unending stream... I don't want this to happen during Prometheus!

Excellent belladonna, enjoy the experience! On somewhat of a tangent, I have a hatred of cinema goers with mobile 'phones, due to the a**hole in front of me taking a call during the beach landing scene in "Saving Privet Ryan"...I wish his 'phone was a mortar...

I want to see this film so much. I remember seeing Alien in 82 (a scary life changing experience for an 8 yr old, that ended up leading my a career) But, the midnight showing I can't get to as I have young kids and my wife wants to see it almost as bad as me. I'll just have to be content with my own nightmares till the next day!!!

I went to see the Hunger Games last night - it was ok, I actually enjoyed it. However there was a pile of teenagers sitting on the GROUND, being annoying and making noise, I didn't really care as I was only in the cinema to see the Prometheus Trailer (which I hesitated to tell my gf) BUT HEAR ME NOW TEENAGERS!!! If there is so much as a whimper when I am watching Prometheus for the first time, I WILL GO ALL PULP FICTION ON YOUR ASSES!!!! And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee!!!!

I never go see movies on opening day. Hell with that. I hate crowds, especially when they would rather talk to their homies on their cell phones and cut up with each other than watch the damn movie, and could give a shit less whether you can hear the movie or not and cinema 'security' cares even less.

@NoxWord...that happened to me when i went to see SpiderMan on broadway. I grabbed two drinks before the second act and about by the time it ended, i had to go so bad i couldnt stand up straight...and if any of you have seen that show, it just never ends.

I will probably wait a week or 2 to see it. As hard as it will be I hate crowded theaters with people talking and reacting. Back in 99 some asshole brought a toddler to a movie I really wanted to see and it started hollering during the climax. Half of the theater started shouting at him, some of us stood up and approached him demanding he leave. He did leave but the movie was ruined. Not saying people are stupid enough to bring an infant to Prometheus but I really hate the inconsiderate masses of humanity.

first off frantz, i didnt say i needed any of that, i was just bragging about how nice the theater is. how can i enjoy the movie if i am talking to staff members, looking at my food, and drinkin booze? i am an alcoholic so i wont be drinking any booze before or during the movie or else i wouldnt enjoy it and knowing me i wouldnt remember much of it because i cant stop at one drink. my POINT was about no cell phones or noise. every other ghetto ass theater i have been too in my general area had people talking really loud, throwing food, kicking the holy hell out of my seat, so on. i had an entire group of little bitch ass teenagers get up and threaten to "jump" me when i asked them 3 times to please be quiet. i also had the same experience many times with kids and druggies. had popcorn thrown at me, flipped off, threatened with a silly tiny knife (mine was much bigger) and much more. no more of that crap, id rather pay 3 times more for the facy quiet theater that kicks people out for me then having to get in a fight with some dirty little druggy kids half my age or less and then have the rude kid who claism to be the manager refuse to give me my money back when i storm out. oooh and one theater ive been to down town, you cant tell anyone to shut up or they will shoot you :) there are an average of 3 shootings a month in that mall. does that sound like a fun movie experience to you? how am i supposed to watch the movie when people have screaming babies, talking on their phone, throwing food at you, and possibly carrying guns. i think ill pay for the "not going to die tonight" theater. i dont see how that makes me less of a fan, i think that makes me a BIGGER fan since i can actually watch and hear the movie.

@ Punx - you need to be Fifield for Halloween In the immortal words of Shepherd Book: "People who talk in the theatre go to a special kind of hell"

I really hope that the midnight opening will act as some kind of filter, and that only the dedicated will turn up. I guess that the evening showings on opening day (which are already sold out) could be the mess that some of you have described.

those of you who've had problems at a cinema i feel your pain, trust me a long time ago my sister and I went to the movies and this girl kept throwing popcorn in my sisters hair, we told the staff and they didn't do squat so my sister and I bought large drinks and when the movie was over we totally drenched the girl and her boyfriend. well the boyfriend wanted to fight so he lunges for me and I step aside and he went flying down the stairs and ran into this hulk of an A$$hole who tried then to beat both of us up. but that is the kind of redneck hole of an area i live in my solution now is to just sit near old people or at least the most adult looking people I can find especially for this movie cause I'd get mid-evil (as someone else said) on someone for messing this up for me too I've never got to enjoy an Alien movie in theatre I saw resurrection, avp, avp R but yeah I didn't enjoy those I wish I had a nice theater to go to like Bella has mentioned

First off, I'm not gonna be queuing up on the initial opening nights, nope. I'm gonna wait a couple of days. then I'll get a good seat without too much interference. Because I will scowl, glower and pull pouty faces if I hear so much as a rustle, queef, fart, giggle or any other stupid noises. And God help any lanky/big bastard sitting in front of me obscuring my view, I'll set his head on fire.

see, SaintsSinphony knows how crappy most theaters are and how absolutely stupid and violent people are no matter what the movie is. i have never known about a theater like the one i just moved about a mile from so i am just in awe about a place where i can watch a movie without the threat of being assaulted. i was even threatened when i went to see a PG kids movie at midnight because i was bored (and a bit drunk), it was some crazy lady with a baby. really? someone else told her to leave because her baby wouldnt stop screaming. this kid wasnt even a year old. she got up and was screaming at that sane person when i interrupted.... the most i could say was "wtf is wrong with you, your infant doesnt want to be in a loud theater at midnight thats why it is crying!!! go home you freakin werido". she started yelling at me until an actual crazy person in the theater yelled "leave or i will kick your baby like a football". she ran out crying and didnt come back. i left early and demanded my money back just because i didnt see the damn movie because that ordeal was insane. they refused to give me a refund but gave me a free ticket to one free movie at the same crap theater :/
