This is from the latest extended trailer:

The scene is the same but appears to be a different take with a completely different monster, now it is the familiar mutated crew member with the bloated head seen elsewhere in the trailer. What happened to the xeno-like creature? Why did they do two different takes with radically different monster?

I've been saying this since the first clips came out months ago... filmmakers will often use alternate takes/"substitution shots" (where something or someone stands in for something to be added in post production) for trailers because, often times, the movie hasn't finished with post yet or isn't even fully edited by the time teaser/trailer 1 is released. RS isn't naive, either. He is fully aware of how serious we franchisers take this movie (even before ANY solid information had been released) so of course he's going to tease us with such details lol

in the new trailers, there are several scenes in the hanger fight, where it seems like people are climbing or throwing things without quite touching or actually making contact with them. After seeing this it seems to me this would make a ton of sense, if they were leaving room for extended limbs being added in postproduction.

I still refuse to give up! :-P

They're definitely not the same take. The smoke is different, the body on the floor in the background is positioned differently, the thrown victim's body and legs are angled differently and his face is positioned differently inside the helmet.

Perhaps due to the spoiler of Shaw's baby being spotted in the trailer they are now trying to hide the mutation of the crew member, or it could be a ploy by RS to deliberately keep us guessing until the movie opens as to what the creature looks like.

Yeah, this is like the scene of the medpod, where they hid Shaw's xenobaby with the ridicule blur... I believe the scene was originally filmed with the regular mutant. The xenoid mutant was added later through CGI... I bet the final product is the first gif...

They are not Xenomorphs, they are Aliens. A Xenomorph is actually a mineral, Google it. The creatures in this movie will be not much like the original Alien either, why are people obsessed with that? You'll be able to see where the original came from, sorta, but that's it.

I agree Shawluv, in the latest version the mutant doesn't appear to actually hold the victim and releases too early, yet the victim still flies through the air and does so very rigidly as if they are being held. In the original trailer the victim was being held in the chest the whole time so it looked a lot more believable. This suggests the latest trailer is deliberately trying to throw us off the scent.

Look Cypher lol.......Xenomorph is perfect for the Alien.
It changes to the attributes of its host no matter what species.
What better word could you want? Its scientific.
Plus directors usually do several takes before they are happy with THE SHOT.

its the same shot just dif res and playback quality. and Xenoporph just means something of unknown origin. yeesh also known as an "alien". you can break it down xeno meaning alien or not from here and morph =Biology . an individual of one particular form, as a worker ant, in a species that occurs in two or more forms. A living thing that not from here basically.

....i prefer the original clip more....those long limbs are very xeno-ish....they terrify me in a good way..;)

its exactly the same shot maybe from a cam located 3 feet from the other but its the same damn shot.

Interesting observation. There have been a few such similar tweaks to the trailers. Another one that springs to mind is the thing David is pulling from one of the ampules. In one trailer it's translucent. In a later one it's dark. Are they just f*****g with us here?!!
