So I was checking AVP Galaxy this morning as I usually do, and I stumbled upon someone that has supposedly seen an advance screening of the film. The guy writes a little preface: "Hello after searching online to discuss prometheus i found this fan site. I along with others who sent comments via facebooks 'areyouseeingthis' were invited to see a special screening of Prometheus in London. I sent a facebook message on it how amazing the trailer looked and how I'm not a scifi fan but this has hyped me up for the film. I got a PM via email from 20th century fox who invited me to see the film. I didn't have to pay for ticket but i did have to pay the £67 in travelling expenses." I've read his description of the plot and...well. Its different. Nothing like we've heard before. He doesn't push to hit any of the plot points that we've discovered through our collective analysis on this forum. And his plot description answers a really BIG debate a lot of us have been having here. I can only find one contradiction to what we already (think) we know. I would suggest giving this a read just out of curiosity. Please let me know what you think. [Just a quick addition:] There is one factor that makes me think this might actually be real: And this quote from Arthur Max (production designer) from an interview in SFX magazine: “This race of interplanetary visitors who have given us upgrades – mentally and physically – over the millennium”. (You'll know what I mean if you read the article)

Dave_b, there was no spoiler tag on the post at all when it was posted originally, and as I have explained previously we are trying to keep it as fresh for everyone as possible, we did not censor anything, it appeared on other sites at the same time as here with the exact same wording that I think was carefully tailored to make it look as if it was a "scoop" for every website devoted to this movie. And the staff member that deleted the post did so after reading it himself and deciding that it was juicy enough to be considered legit. Our Administrator is currently working on a way for people that have seen it to discuss it away from the eyes of people that have not, and IF this were real, I believe that Fox would have made the people seeing this "advanced screening" sign something saying that they must not discuss it until much closer to release. I would have if I were them. Their legal team would have been all over something like this. As I've said earlier, dots just don't connect for me in regards to this........

@Dave_b: Yes but also about that particular individuals' fairness towards others in the community. Mark a thread clearly as potential spoiler - done. Then it's up to everyone to decide whether to read further or not. Can't be too hard to give it a proper description in the subject. Easy. Damn, Cypher you type fast... must be the BACON! lol

I agree HAL, and that was another reason it was taken down, there was no spoiler tag to warn people, we COULD have added one to the thread title but I think if it wasn't there in the first place then the poster couldn't have had much respect for those of us that didn't want to see such "spoiler-ish" information, why should we correct that? We aren't their mothers.......... While I understand that "areyouseeingthis" may have wanted to share the experience with others, if true, it still does not excuse not putting a spoiler warning in the thread title, and they could have asked any of the staff members here to review it first and then decide where and how to post it. It's called common courtesy, I would use it, so I expect others to.

The link is still active....I thought it was pulled??

Cypher

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 7:44 AM
That was yet another reason I believe it's BS Diesektor, no one outside of Fox I believe has seen this yet. If there had been an advance screening, ANYONE going to see it would have been on FaceBroke within SECONDS posting that they had been invited, or worse, and why has no other descriptions of it appeared from anyone else? If I'd been lucky enough to get invited to something like this I'd let people know I was going to see it, and SOMEONE would have heard something about an advance screening and gone to at the very least hang out at the theater it was supposedly being shown in to catch a glimpse of Ridley or someone that would very likely have been hanging around that had had something to do with the movie, as it is I've seen absolutely nothing like that anywhere. Does no one really think something like this would not have made some sort of national news somewhere, especially in London, of all cities?

@ Cypher. I'm not looking for trouble or anything, but I did see the original thread from areyouseeingthis before it was removed and I did notice that the end of his thread title said something like "major spoilers within." However, I do admit that it should have started with the word "spoiler"

I gave it a chance to be true but i think is not ...its just a geek that have compiled a straighforward compilation of trailers scenes . There is no way that a non geek remember so well a movie , and basically there are also just the settings of trailers scenes , nothing really new , They would have gave away all the plot of the movie with the trailers , something Lindelof have said they were aware to not do . A good but flat try to generate some rumors ( imo )

Hi guys Have read the stuff and it left me quite torn... What makes me doubt it are a few major missing elements that are not even mentioned though they should have, provided how detailed his account is. (the ' Sacrifice Engineer'? / how they manage to find the temples etc... ). Many other elements are right AFAIK, matching the best supported theories around and the spoiler-tweets... All in all, I think it may be true, but it also sounds to me as a very well crafted scenario built from all the best available elements and some relatively talented 'making sense out of the trailer scenes' and 'hole filling' to connect the dots that are still in terra incognita. (talented as in 'at least plausible' cause I am not a huge fan of the ending and other things myself...) I'll come back later to elaborate on what I think is missing. Not 100% positive yet, and the real scenario might not be that far regarding some parts, but I think we can prob relax. -T.

I snapped like a dry twig and read it.....IMO total Bullcrap. If this IS Prometheus then I am going to be massively dissapointed, and also probably dead due to the two years of non stop positive PR I have been giving my workmates and wife and driving everyone insane with how mind bendingly glorious this movie is going to be! Well I find out real soon - June 1st 1.20pm London BFI Imax.

damon lindelof is not shy of a few plot holes in his illustrious career is he? having read it i got a feeling it may be true, sob! (that's me crying btw) lets face it, they can put a spacecraft on the other side of the galaxy, but still need to use an axe as a weapon? tbh, i wish i'd read this thread AFTER the link had been removed.

I thought this was worth re-posting from Diesektor's thread, I deleted it to keep the focus on this one but it's very relevant:-
RIGHT OKAY GUYS- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH- there is a post on here that has the full run of the film- I read 2 lines of it then fucked it off- by all accounts it bang on-but im not 100% sure- however i am not reading it. come on guys play fair- I Dont want to know and its massively unfair on folk who want to know- including me- please tell me if i am not on my own with this? im all for new pics and tit bits here and there but not the whole fucking plot! IF YOU SEE THE FILM THEN HAVE THE DECENCY NOT TO RUIN IT FOR OTHER PEOPLE. SO NOT FAIR.. regards Luke
give me a break...why would they screen the movie for a bunch of random people? this guys not a sci-fi fan, and he's not a critic, so.......what? that doesnt add up. im not reading it, and im not buying it for a second.

Nah that's OK W2rh0und, I actually added the MAJOR SPOILERS WITHIN to the title right before it was deleted ;-P it wasn't there to start with, thats for sure. I've been lurking around here all day here since about 10 AM my time, and it's now 11 PM, so a solid 13 hours with this :-S

"GUYS IM A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL PRESS. i have applied to go and see an advance screening of the film and they knocked me back saying it would only be viewable from 1St June. I have very good credentials and this chap is either one lucky mother fucker or hes talking shit." I'd bet my left maple nut that the latter is the case. My first thought when reading the OP was surprise that there would be advanced screenings for all but a select few. Then when I went on to read this guy was a fan that just got invited along I was somewhat more skeptical. Finally I read he got in free but had to pay travel expenses .... well I just knew this guy was yanking our chain. I think it's just another sci-fi/Prometheus fan like the rest of us trying to gain a bit of credibility for his theory by pretending that he's seen the film!

Haven't read everything, but oh god, this must be fake. If it's not, well.. Hard to say more.. The ending seemed kinda sh*tty, also that moment with a person who was revived for 15 min and with exploding head yes? This is stupid, really.

Just close the window... If you hover your cursor over a known spoiler link, you know temptation will win... Almost like "I really shouldn't have another gin and tonic" as you open the bottle on a nice summer day. :)

I have read it and just like the fake scripts, I didn't like the ending. In fact, if this is fake then I am glad as it is a timely reminder that the building up of our anticipation for this movie could be leading us to a major let down in our high expectations.

.....one of my favorite characters does not survive this supposed plot and that's what i don't like about it....and the last 10-12 minutes....nothing special about that....don't really see how it ties in with alien dna?.....I am slowly convincing myself that it's just bullshit!....another fake plot...right?...and if i drink enough I will hopefully forget what i read...:)

Cypher

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 8:29 AM
One thing I'll say about the ending...... The Alien was OUR creator? No. Fucking. Way. Would Ridley Scott make it so that those things had ANYTHING to do with our creation. Our destruction, yes, but not our creation.

personally, I think this is fake. Why would fox invite a totally random person to see a super-hyped movie like prometheus? And there are numerous contradictions to the trailers in the plot, the crewmwmber attacked by the white creature (hammerpede?) is Milburn, not Fifield, some parts are really lame and unexplained, etc...
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids? They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

NoXWord

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 8:36 AM
The fact that he says that he's no sci-fi fan, and blah blah, and then goes to AVP galaxy is rather dubious. I mean, if I were somebody who got to see Prometheus in an (alleged) early screening and wanted to talk about it, I would join this forum (as it's clearly better related to prometheus than avp). What would be the point of stating one's not a sci-fi fan, then? Just to stir the waters and generate rumour indeed. And AvP Galaxy is more prone to trolling than this site. I could be totally wrong on this, but it doesn't sound quite right to me. In any case I stick to my tradition of not reading a single plot, be it leaked, true or declared pure speculation.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

btw I totally agree it's really not cool to not mention 'spoilers' in a prominent way in the title, and in this case it justifies removing the link. However, provided it's done right in the title and text, I do advocate for 'spoiler-lovers' like me, who like to read things even if it ' spoils' the movie (cause for us it really doesn't). In the present case, I find it surprising that some find a reason to blame others than themselves for reading it. Sure no proper warning was given here and it is not right, but on a thread titled 'New screening report' don't be surprised to read a screening report if you clicked on a link and then had to click 'spoiler' after the link to reveal the post. You wanted to read it, you did. End of the story. IMO, people should be warned but in times when it's done correctly (ie not like it was here), they also should be able to access info if they want to.

Can everyone please stop discussing any more of the content and details of this so called leaked review? The more you dissect it here, the less it makes sense that the link was removed in the first place. It will end up in bits and pieces all over this thread anyway. Makes sense somehow? Why can't we just put it behind us and move on? Please, please, please with sugar on top... *for Cypher that'll be crispy bacon instead*

Wow, this "story" really ruffled some feathers! Whether it's real or not doesn't really matter at this point. It has done what I'm sure it was meant to: Stir us all up and get us talking. I wouldn't put such a thing past Fox either. Viral campaigns, multiple trailers and featurettes, and oh yeah, a few highly charged leaked fake plots to get the juices flowing. The potential is here to generate a billion or more box office dollars. How far do you think they would go? Besides, even if it's legit we won't know for a few more weeks. If this "person" really saw it, then so be it. We pick apart all of his details, but he could have made MANY simple mistakes. Fifield/ Milburn, Vickers, Shaw, or the annoying BF. If this was real, and the person isn't a fan- then our nitpicking is invalid. Simple mistakes is all. In addition, much of the story could have been misunderstood. Let it go people! I read it, and it didn't ruin a thing for me. There isn't enough detail there to do that. If it was legit, the storyline is no worse than 3/4 of the stuff we discussed and theorized to DEATH in this forum. Get a grip people.
