New screening report

MemberOvomorphMay 14, 20124416 Views131 RepliesSo I was checking AVP Galaxy this morning as I usually do, and I stumbled upon someone that has supposedly seen an advance screening of the film.
The guy writes a little preface:
"Hello after searching online to discuss prometheus i found this fan site. I along with others who sent comments via facebooks 'areyouseeingthis' were invited to see a special screening of Prometheus in London. I sent a facebook message on it how amazing the trailer looked and how I'm not a scifi fan but this has hyped me up for the film. I got a PM via email from 20th century fox who invited me to see the film. I didn't have to pay for ticket but i did have to pay the £67 in travelling expenses."
I've read his description of the plot and...well. Its different. Nothing like we've heard before. He doesn't push to hit any of the plot points that we've discovered through our collective analysis on this forum. And his plot description answers a really BIG debate a lot of us have been having here. I can only find one contradiction to what we already (think) we know.
I would suggest giving this a read just out of curiosity. Please let me know what you think.
[Just a quick addition:]
There is one factor that makes me think this might actually be real:

And this quote from Arthur Max (production designer) from an interview in SFX magazine:
“This race of interplanetary visitors who have given us upgrades – mentally and physically – over the millennium”.
(You'll know what I mean if you read the article)

That's why I think it's bullcrap HAL ;-) but you never know, this close to release Fox might just give up on trying to keep this stuff secret anymore................

Just one more thing on this. Of course I'm curious but I can contain or discipline myself to not read it. However, I do save all of them including source url in order to look at them after having seen the movie. That is exciting enough for my part and then we'll see what was crap and what wasn't.
But I assume that no one REALLY cares about it much anymore after the movie is out. I'll most certainly care about booking the next ticket...

it wasn't taken down because it was bull it was taken down because some people can be real assholes to people for no reason. the dude put it up and people started calling him out on it (very rudely) then it was taken down so no one got a chance to make their mind up on it. the dude is nice and I talked to him about it for awhile he went into detail on some things that make sense i let some people read his review that have other prometheus related web sites and they wanted to ask the dude a few more questions also before just telling him off
what i hate about this whole community is how simple minded everyone can be. damn we accept these movies (alien and such) as a real thing then someone sees a pre screening (supposedly) and everyone just flips out.
May 14, 2012
damn
why can't people just read it or choose not to then ask questions if they want to know more or just leave it alone i don't know if the guy saw it or not but I have talked with him and he dosn't seem like an asshole i think the dude just wanted to share a review with a website im goin to work after i type this comment so you guys can say what you want and if i came across as harsh im sorry but i do get tired of the simple mindedness of this "community"
May 14, 2012
also i read it and I like it better than half these cracked pot ideas most people have about the movie so there's my 2 cents

@ Saints: Simply because I do NOT want this one to be spoiled for me, a movie I have been waiting for since about 25 years! And I think every dedicated, devoted fan feels exactly the same way! I am scared to bits about reading any of those 'leaked' reports because of that, so I don't do it. I'd be deeply sad sitting in the cinema, suddenly realising I DID read a genuine report and knowing what will happen next.
But I agree with you that if people start reasoning about it, they should respect each other and do it in an appropiate, non-abusive way, No need to get personal indeed.

Actually, it was taken down from here for a variety of reasons, one of which was one of our new staff wasn't sure it should be up here in the first place without a spoiler tag, and since you aren't privy to how we try to work things around here Saints you get the benefit of the doubt, but the fact is that the guys around AVP Galaxy are younger than many of the members here, we are (mostly) 30 plus years old and don't take stuff like this without a grain of salt or ten, alot of us grew up watching the Alien movies, and our staff member (who shall remain nameless) did what he thought was the right thing to do after he read it himself. And I actually went and had a look at the AVPGalaxy site, and it looks like that many people there are also dis-believing of this.
I personally would like to hear from someone at Fox as to whether or not this screening actually happened. If that confirms that what was posted was real, so be it, I read it and didn't think it looked legit, but I still haven't completely made up my mind about it. Mostly I'm leaning towards BS though.
Also, I can understand your position, but remember, this is the Internet where everyone has a voice and isn't afraid to use it.

Identifying something as a spoiler or suggesting the reader be wary of possibly ruining an otherwise epic film event is comletely legitimate. Censorship is not. Are those two concepts hard to grasp? Ultimately, it IS up to the individual.
May 14, 2012
...i liked the story...i am mad at myself for reading it cause if it's the real deal...then i have spoiled it for myself...well to a degree...still looking forward to actually seeing the movie as much as ever!...
May 14, 2012
Dave_b, there was no spoiler tag on the post at all when it was posted originally, and as I have explained previously we are trying to keep it as fresh for everyone as possible, we did not censor anything, it appeared on other sites at the same time as here with the exact same wording that I think was carefully tailored to make it look as if it was a "scoop" for every website devoted to this movie. And the staff member that deleted the post did so after reading it himself and deciding that it was juicy enough to be considered legit. Our Administrator is currently working on a way for people that have seen it to discuss it away from the eyes of people that have not, and IF this were real, I believe that Fox would have made the people seeing this "advanced screening" sign something saying that they must not discuss it until much closer to release. I would have if I were them. Their legal team would have been all over something like this.
As I've said earlier, dots just don't connect for me in regards to this........

@Dave_b: Yes but also about that particular individuals' fairness towards others in the community. Mark a thread clearly as potential spoiler - done. Then it's up to everyone to decide whether to read further or not. Can't be too hard to give it a proper description in the subject. Easy.
Damn, Cypher you type fast... must be the BACON! lol

I agree HAL, and that was another reason it was taken down, there was no spoiler tag to warn people, we COULD have added one to the thread title but I think if it wasn't there in the first place then the poster couldn't have had much respect for those of us that didn't want to see such "spoiler-ish" information, why should we correct that? We aren't their mothers..........
While I understand that "areyouseeingthis" may have wanted to share the experience with others, if true, it still does not excuse not putting a spoiler warning in the thread title, and they could have asked any of the staff members here to review it first and then decide where and how to post it. It's called common courtesy, I would use it, so I expect others to.

GUYS IM A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL PRESS. i have applied to go and see an advance screening of the film and they knocked me back saying it would only be viewable from 1St June
I have very good credentials and this chap is either one lucky mother fucker or hes talking shit.
Dont read it just in case. Im not.
still Dont want to ruin the surprise.
May 14, 2012
That was yet another reason I believe it's BS Diesektor, no one outside of Fox I believe has seen this yet. If there had been an advance screening, ANYONE going to see it would have been on FaceBroke within SECONDS posting that they had been invited, or worse, and why has no other descriptions of it appeared from anyone else? If I'd been lucky enough to get invited to something like this I'd let people know I was going to see it, and SOMEONE would have heard something about an advance screening and gone to at the very least hang out at the theater it was supposedly being shown in to catch a glimpse of Ridley or someone that would very likely have been hanging around that had had something to do with the movie, as it is I've seen absolutely nothing like that anywhere. Does no one really think something like this would not have made some sort of national news somewhere, especially in London, of all cities?

@ Cypher. I'm not looking for trouble or anything, but I did see the original thread from areyouseeingthis before it was removed and I did notice that the end of his thread title said something like "major spoilers within."
However, I do admit that it should have started with the word "spoiler"

I gave it a chance to be true but i think is not ...its just a geek that have compiled a straighforward compilation of trailers scenes . There is no way that a non geek remember so well a movie , and basically there are also just the settings of trailers scenes , nothing really new ,
They would have gave away all the plot of the movie with the trailers , something Lindelof have said they were aware to not do .
A good but flat try to generate some rumors ( imo )

Hi guys
Have read the stuff and it left me quite torn...
What makes me doubt it are a few major missing elements that are not even mentioned though they should have, provided how detailed his account is.
(the ' Sacrifice Engineer'? / how they manage to find the temples etc... ).
Many other elements are right AFAIK, matching the best supported theories around and the spoiler-tweets...
All in all, I think it may be true, but it also sounds to me as a very well crafted scenario built from all the best available elements and some relatively talented 'making sense out of the trailer scenes' and 'hole filling' to connect the dots that are still in terra incognita.
(talented as in 'at least plausible' cause I am not a huge fan of the ending and other things myself...)
I'll come back later to elaborate on what I think is missing. Not 100% positive yet, and the real scenario might not be that far regarding some parts, but I think we can prob relax.
