If the main protagonist in Prometheus is the "engineers" ,space jockey I think this film will not turn out to be all that special. Been there done that with a alien being somewhat resembling man terrorizing astronauts. WTBS I do like what I have seen recently with the "eel" ,"cobra" thing and how it gets into the spacesuit and wreaks havoc. This is very exotic, otherworldly and the kind of thing I expect. I hope and pray the main "monster" is not the engineers that he is just a part of the terror not the mian focus ,but from what I have seen recently I think this is where we are headed. Side note IMO they have really went overboard with the latest TV spots revealing way to much.

Calm down, Sparty You're going to blow a gasket before you ever have a chance to see the film. They tell you to count to 10 while breathing deeply. I've never heard of counting to 10 while ranting. PS: Where did you learn to type so fast?

@Spartacus I think you're getting a bit worked up over nothing, we are all discussing shit we don't really know and there's a lot of speculation going around about what happens but its ridley scott i'm sure all our doubts will be gone when the credits roll.

Agreed Rawr. I have to say though... I'm a bit apprehensive about EVERYTHING - I'm from the West of Scotland, it's practically in our BLOOD! Please don't hate on me Spartacus, I didn't mean to offend you if I have *sadface*

I think everyone has the wrong idea about this movie. It is not an end to it's self but a birth of new seedling from the Alien universe. It will open up vast new areas of exploration, new novels, new graphic novels, and possibly new additional movies that explore the Weyland Universe. I personally have grown tired of the Aliens, and wish to examine the greater expanse of this fictional ethos.

It's ok for people to be realistic. Doubts are human. Even Ridley Scott made "Legend," "Body of Lies" and "A Good Year." But his science fiction films (only two, admittedly, but two absolute milestones in the history of fantastic cinema) were both amazing films. So I think we're in good shape. UNLESS, of course, people are set on dissing the film just because it doesn't turn out to be another xeno-fest. I'm sure some people will be disappointed by that, but as for me, I'm just excited to see a new Ridley Scott film set in the universe of Alien.

@Raven - i agree. i've been looking forward to this movie from day one; i really like most of ridleys work, but all the trailers and clips have dampened rather than raised my expectations - too many trailers & clips, with too much repetitive content - media blitz is putting the anticipation out, rather than building it up - trailers reveal many aliens/bad guys - i fear the movie & protagonists will be too complicated to follow & appreciate fox marketing should heed a lesson in all of this - take as an example the film lockout - mediocre film, but i went to see it because i loved the 5 min clip they put out. plain & simple marketing

@patch That seems possible, i mean there this talk of it leading into what happens in Alien but maybe that just to put us off so we are really shocked with the ending, maybe this is the birth of a whole different beast that can continue on a new sort of storyline.

How about a new word.....Tolerance, that's the word everyone needs. It seems that the people that push their views the hardest are the least to be tolerant of others and their views. If you want someone to be tolerant of your views and what you believe, then how about giving that same consideration to the other person. I have to agree with Raven on this, we've about hyped this movie and Ridley Scott to death and while I loved Alien, I'm not so sure what to expect yet on Prometheus. I am hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst.

LOL Sukkal...No...I never mentioned strangling anyone ! But that's not such a bad idea in your case...lmao. To each their own, I choose to have FAITH and am going to have the last laugh, cause I am going to remember and remind every single person who had none! That they should have before they made a new post stating how much they "loved" this thing after the fact.

I have no expectations, so I am pretty sure I will like the movie. Also, I loved "Legend" so there. :P But yeah Ridley has made some awesome movies but he has also made some some really bad ones as well. People are just being real here. XD

Hi everyone, I would just like to add to this discussion the two disappointments I have with this film since day one: the "anthropomorphization" of the Space Jockey,... I think H.R. Giger gave us an awesome extraterrestrial being in the SJ, something so unique and bizarre we couldn´t figure out if it was part of the ship (a biomechanical ship) or just "fossilized into the chair" as Dallas put it (the entire structure, being, chair and telescope had the colours of dead bones),... and now it is nothing but a humanoid in a suit, and that weird elephant head is a helmet (bah!),... and this leads to disappointment number one (I inverted them on purpose): the embracement of the crap of one of the world´s greatest charlatans and his tirade of "chariots of the Gods": Von Daniken. Way to go Ridley! (not)... (don´t get me wrong, he is a great artist and filmaker,... but this "StarGate/Galactica" crap is anything but original...)

@Raven I think you have a reason to be worried. Turning the space jockey into a humanoid in a suit was the first mistake. Making the origin of this species, when you had the ENTIRE universe to choose from, the Von Daniken's Hot Rod of the Gods BS was the second mistake. Still, I have hope that it will be a decent film with some good visuals. Also, the Engineers would be the antagonists.

Gotta agree with Powereddie on the SJ thing. I always thought that the SJ we see growing out of the chair in Alien was was the SJ in its natural form. I too was dissapointed when I found out that they turned it into suit with a humanoid inside. Seeing the big human looking guy running around and terrorizing the crew in the latest TV spot doesn't look as scary as it would haved had it been the huge SJ with snorkel from Alien. They have the technology to put this in screen but I guess RS has his story telling reasons for turning them from giants that grow out of chairs to guys in suits.

Love the sculpture! The way I see it, we given these images for a reason and that is to distract us from the real plot points in the film and the other "creatures" that we have yet to see.

@DippyBird... wow...seriously...wow man, I am flabbergasted that this comment...
Gee thanks Spartacus... I was only trying to be nice...
was actually something you decided after thinking about it and seeing that picture that you should say to me.... How you can clearly see how extremely funny that pic is and try to even turn it all into something it 100% isn't is beyond me, the picture clearly is an INSULT OF MYSELF !!! My intention there was 100% clear as freaking day, insult myself and this time I don't care anymore how my next comment sounds...cause you'll all misinterpret it completely anyways and deliberately I think as well and then insult me based on some rediculous fantasy... ... "so learn how to read". YOU WERE SUPPOSEDLY GIVING ME THIS DIPLOMA REMEMBER?

I have faith in this film and mind you, what we are seeing are just above the ice burg and not what lies below. yeah, we all have expectation, ours, what we want to see and unfortunately, we do not have like a couple of million lying around to make the film... Scott is 74 and has been making films for quiet sometime. I am going to stay faithful to Sir Scott because he was the reason why I went into film making. Yeah, we are seeing alot of footage but how much of that footage will be in the actual film, we will not know the outcome till the film is officially released and then when it is released we can have a thread called the "The Piss and Moan" thread....till then, lets wait to see the movie and get all the facts before burning Scott and the Writers at the stake...

Well i am not disapointed by the guy in suit..... I always thought it was, and after seeing the other imagery of a Elephant Creature it made me against some of those ideas... I do think they should not have gone the whole connection with our creation aspect i.e Chariots of the Gods.. And maybe they could have made the Engineer more Alien.... Saying that though i did like this image....

Well i think we can all be the judge on that...... Scot has done great with Alien and Blade Runner you cant knock either of those.... Some of his movies have some errors in them such as the Men in Jeans in one of his movies.... ;) So maybe he never gave it much thought for the close up scenes when the Jockey/Engineer is chassing Shaw through the Lifeboat Ship or Prometheus... maybe he never thought we would disect those images and then ponder.... hang on... thats a little short for a Space Jockey.... as in other scenes he looks bigger... unless Ridley has a good reason for this and its part of the twist...... I also know Ridley is a very proud and stubborn man in his movies and he has a sence of arogance in his work and thats just because he is proud of what he does. But i dont take him as a bare faced lair who would go piss up the Alien Franchise and go piss off the Alien fanboys.... after all some elements dont sit well with some of us inc Jockey being not only Humaniod in Suit but maybe very Humaniod size to boot.... I just cant see him going past these comments.... 1) The end of Prometheus would tie in with Alien and link to it. 2) The end of the movie we shall see Alien DNA 3) The end of the movie, the Alien Fanboys will get their wish and answers and they will leave satisfied.... I think Ridley will not go into massive detail but certainly would cover more about the Derelict on LV 426 and its Cargo than that leaked suposed review of he movie does... As if thats what the movie is gonna be like, then Ridley would have totally bluffed the Alien fanbase and i dont think he would be that stupid. So i still think we would get our answers and i think the simularities between one or two Prometheus Tracks (Birth and Planting the Seed) have in comon with the ones from the Space Jockey and Egg Chamber scores in Alien. Are more than just coinsidence.
