Getting A Little Worried

MemberOvomorphMay 15, 20123240 Views76 RepliesIf the main protagonist in Prometheus is the "engineers" ,space jockey I think this film will not turn out to be all that special. Been there done that with a alien being somewhat resembling man terrorizing astronauts. WTBS I do like what I have seen recently with the "eel" ,"cobra" thing and how it gets into the spacesuit and wreaks havoc. This is very exotic, otherworldly and the kind of thing I expect. I hope and pray the main "monster" is not the engineers that he is just a part of the terror not the mian focus ,but from what I have seen recently I think this is where we are headed. Side note IMO they have really went overboard with the latest TV spots revealing way to much.

Raven :) Shawluv :)
That's what I'm trying to say - the fact that we all care about this film so much is a GOOD thing :)

Shawnlun , no worrries. Trust me I want this to be a great film and I do care that's why I want something totally fresh, which after all these years of cinema will be hard to do but we have the right man for the job!

Raven - I was concerned too, there were a few RS films out in the last decade which I didn't feel were that great, but now I see them as his way of keeping himself ticking over and able to commit fully to his baby: Prometheus

Someone called Ridley Scott a root vegetable???
LEMME AT HIM...
lol.
Some of my best friends are turnips. Sorta.

Well i did right a reply but browser removed it.....
Ok basically i am concerned a little because of the so called screening that someone claimed to had seen... now it had holes in it... and if you was not a Harry Potter fan and knew little about Harry Potter movies would you go pay £67 in Travel Expenses to go see that movie even though ticket is free and its a Advance screening....
I know i would not....
But then someone else released on Twitter some stuff and answered some questions that gave some answers simular to that other persons views....
Could they both be lying?
As their stories seems that the only connection with Alien is the Engineer (but smaller one) and Derelict Ship (but smaller one).....
The last scenes also does not connect with when Ridley and Co said the last 8 mins will tie into Alien and we would get our answers.... which the plot and clues those who said they had seen the movie, do not give no answers to Alien.
Thats a disapointment and while this plot seems ok as stand alone film, its a bit disapointing... and if you are trying to find a link with Alien well its gonna be a massive disapointment.....
But then again who can say they are not just making it up...
One saving grace for me is the tracks.... Track 25: Birth.... sounds familar to Alien Track 07 The skeleton.....
Which gets me to think the Alien one is for that scene, then maybe Birth is what goes with the scene that explains how it got there..... and that hole?
Check both tracks out and see if you see what i mean?
This combined with Ridley saying the last 8 mins tie into Alien and will make the Fanboys get their wish and leave satisfied, makes me have some faith still....
Compared to the so called pre screening plots ending which is basically a remash of the end of Alien meets begining of Aliens and will totally P off the Fanboys....

Spartacus...
I think you've clearly made your point here. There's no way anyone can argue with that LOL

Ridley Scott...
#1- Owns You when it comes to film making.
#2- Is The 2nd or possibly 1st and highest rated film director in the genre of Science Fiction IN THE HISTORY OF THE ART FORM ITSELF!
#3-Made it's predecessor which was a whopping success and still is 33+ years later.
#4-Created what may be the single most PERFECTLY made film of all time.
The extended cut of Gladiator.
#5-Is master of set design and Photography and has numerous awards and degrees in these very fields.
#6- Is perhaps the single greatest film STORY BOARDER TO EVER LIVE !!!
#7-Also made, as his debut none the less, what is arguable the greatest artistically vibrant debut motion picture from any artist or director in mankind's history..."The Duelists"!
#8-Being the actors' director that he is, Scott favors extensive use of the two-camera 'V' set-up, thus enabling his actors to play more fluidly off one another without being constantly interrupted by calls to "Cut!". which is NOTHING LESS THAN GENIUS !!!
#9-Usually casts / works with actors who have a strong theatre background and are graduates of drama school. He likes to be personally involved with the casting of his movies as well. Which makes hi "Special" to the people he employs "on set" and everyone else he empowers with just his presence.
#10-Has credentials like...Education: West Hartlepool College of Art; Royal College of Art in London, England (Graduated with a B.A. from the Film Arts school); London International Film School (Graduated from the one year master's program where two of his short films won awards).
and that's really really just for starters and nothing compared to the rest of it...Do I really need to explain this any further for anyone? Because I haven't even delved into your FAITH IN HIM yet here? Or shall I say again...Your completely insulting, to me anyways...Lack Of It ?

What is SJ ?
This is the major secret of movie so be sure it would not waste by showing SJ as a hustling wrestler man who pass the doors of Prometheus without bending himself.
Some scenes may figure out and this one not. So enjoy the movie.

Calm down, Sparty
You're going to blow a gasket before you ever have a chance to see the film.
They tell you to count to 10 while breathing deeply.
I've never heard of counting to 10 while ranting.
PS: Where did you learn to type so fast?

@Spartacus
I think you're getting a bit worked up over nothing, we are all discussing shit we don't really know and there's a lot of speculation going around about what happens but its ridley scott i'm sure all our doubts will be gone when the credits roll.

in this case I am actually very calm and feel the undeniable empowering GLOW of the COURAGE OF MY CONVICTION!!!
May 15, 2012
It's great that you're able to stand by it as well! There's nor many people strong enough to do that!
May 15, 2012
Agreed Rawr.
I have to say though... I'm a bit apprehensive about EVERYTHING - I'm from the West of Scotland, it's practically in our BLOOD!
Please don't hate on me Spartacus, I didn't mean to offend you if I have *sadface*

I think everyone has the wrong idea about this movie. It is not an end to it's self but a birth of new seedling from the Alien universe. It will open up vast new areas of exploration, new novels, new graphic novels, and possibly new additional movies that explore the Weyland Universe. I personally have grown tired of the Aliens, and wish to examine the greater expanse of this fictional ethos.

It's ok for people to be realistic. Doubts are human.
Even Ridley Scott made "Legend," "Body of Lies" and "A Good Year."
But his science fiction films (only two, admittedly, but two absolute milestones in the history of fantastic cinema) were both amazing films.
So I think we're in good shape.
UNLESS, of course, people are set on dissing the film just because it doesn't turn out to be another xeno-fest. I'm sure some people will be disappointed by that, but as for me, I'm just excited to see a new Ridley Scott film set in the universe of Alien.

@Raven - i agree. i've been looking forward to this movie from day one; i really like most of ridleys work, but all the trailers and clips have dampened rather than raised my expectations
- too many trailers & clips, with too much repetitive content
- media blitz is putting the anticipation out, rather than building it up
- trailers reveal many aliens/bad guys - i fear the movie & protagonists will be too complicated to follow & appreciate
fox marketing should heed a lesson in all of this - take as an example the film lockout - mediocre film, but i went to see it because i loved the 5 min clip they put out. plain & simple marketing

@patch
That seems possible, i mean there this talk of it leading into what happens in Alien but maybe that just to put us off so we are really shocked with the ending, maybe this is the birth of a whole different beast that can continue on a new sort of storyline.
