I captured these images from the last featurette with Charlize Theron:

These are two frames of the scene where a (mutating?) Holloway tries to enter the ship. Vickers confront him with a flamethrower. In this scene a new point of view allows us to see someone imobilizing Shaw, because she wants to stop Vickers from incinerating her doomed lover. Dramatic, eh?

Hi big pig May 17, 2012
I'm pretty sure you're right. Another step or two and he's toast. There are bio hazard containment protocols and he should've been more careful. Hard to feel sorry for the guy

Hollow WayMay 17, 2012
True Dat. It appears to be Captain Janek I believe holding Shaw down. Also this appears to be the trip where they recover the Space Jockey head, and it would seem that this is not the first trip to the temple. Possibly after the second trip.
centrosphereMay 17, 2012
Yep. But there is a inner conflict between Weyland products here: the marvelous protective suit against the invincible sterilizing flamethrower. I feel the designer took the right decision by allowing the later to obliterates the former... ; )

Hollow WayMay 17, 2012
I think Holloway's mutation begins on Prometheus. I think naughty android David is going to infect him with the "alien stuff" he pulls out of that canister he retrieves. I believe when Hollow Way tells David he would do "anything and everything" to find the answers he seeks, David decides to "help" Holloway put his money where his mouth is. Just a prediction.

centrosphereMay 17, 2012
@Hollow Way,
I do agree; Janek stays in Prometheus in the first trip to the temple. I believe they go there again when they discover the Juggernaut. But I think they bring the canister and the Engineer helmet with the head as trophys from the first trip...let´s see!
jonnyMay 17, 2012
yep, this is after he impregnates shaw with his own parasite. just after the second temple trip.

MembraneMay 17, 2012
Check out this old image which I think ties into this discussion because that appears to be Vickers with a flamethrower on the right. (unless that's how she welcomes people back from every outing they go on)

I think this is going to be a very tragic scene actually. I'm sure Holloway doesn't have much control over how he is behaving at this point, and Shaw wants to save him but is not given the chance to.

KronikMay 17, 2012
I seriously doubt that Holloway gets torched... I think it's just edited to look that way.
We ALL know that Fifield is on fire when he goes crazy in the loading bay.
DrexlspiveyMay 17, 2012
If someone was to design a space/environmental suit for a mission like this, don't you think they'd ensure it was flame proof and heat resistant?

BigDaveMay 17, 2012
Well now i combine all the images of this scene.....
I can see Vickers with Flamer, Janek in front must be talking to Vickers about what went down, and she tells everyone back on the ship now.
That last image we do not see Fifield.....
I see Vickers, Janek, Shaw and Ford with Holloway.... two unknown crew i assume Mercs and someone in the drivers side of the ATV
But no Fifield..... thus Holloway gets toasted, he gets back up, he gets toasted and shot at...
The Fifield comes aboard somehow.

Holloway comes across as very confident, cocky, and brass. I think he calls vickers bluff here, and he shouldnt have. he should have just stayed off the ship, and let everyones head clear.
unless there was something that made him feel like he needed to get back on immediately. but yeah, this is going to be a sad scene for shaw...but only briefly...it seems like holloway gets back up in a moment, not at all like his usual self.

OrganicLifeMay 17, 2012
I still don't think she toasts Holloway. Here is how I think things go down...
The scientific crew go out to the temple. Shit gets crazy, people die or get infected or invaded or whatever. Hearing all of this over the radio, Vickers decides to confront them with the flamethrower, to make sure they bring nothing back on board. However, people are injured or dying, so Holloway argues that they need to get these people on board as soon as possible. He tries to talk her down and shows her that he is fine. That's why he's holding his arms out like that, it's the universal gesture for "Look, I'm okay, I'm not a threat." The important thing here is that she has no obvious reason not to believe him. But the others are a different story. While Holloway is trying to talk Vickers down, someone forces the issue, and tries to rush her or something. That, or a crewmember believed to be dead or incapacitated suddenly gets back up, mutated or simply not themselves. She torches that person, not Holloway.
I'm telling you, Holloway's infection goes unnoticed, as it is somehow wholly different from the more violent or aggressive mutations some of the other crewmembers experience. I'm convinced that this "under the radar" infection is crucial to the plot, so I highly doubt that Vickers simply torches him.
I also don't think they ever end up going on a second outing to the temple. If a bunch of awful shit happens the first time you go, you grab some data and you GTFO. You don't go back once you watch a friend deep-throat a space cobra and/or mutate into a killing machine.
Hell no, you send the damn robot.
This is the return from the first outing to the temple, and Holloway makes it back on board where he discovers something wriggling in his eye later. I have very few doubts about this.

Wow.
If the correct conclusions are being drawn, just these two little photos are the best argument I've yet seen, against "over-exposure" and "spoilers" in the marketing strategy.
Little creatures and SJ's, are one thing - but if this has been added together correctly, this looks like one HELL of a dramatic and powerful scene! Look at his body language!
This is the first time I've felt even a little bit sorry for this cocky idiot - this could be a real, "gut-punch", scene!....I would have thought they'd have held this back?..
Seemingly strange decision...

gameover manMay 17, 2012
@OrganicLife...you've missed some things my friend.
Holloways infection is ABSOLUTELY noticed. The "origins" featurette shows him collapsed in the temple, and his skin turning blue/grey and the veins running over his face, like the guy from the waterfall. If you get a good shot of the man walking up with his arms out, you'll see that he too has noticeably grey skin.
in a thread from yesterday, we see vickers torching someone who's giving the universal gesture for "Look, I'm okay, I'm not a threat"...she isnt buying it.

besides, you dont see EVERYONE ELSE who claims to be healthy doing the same thing. she tells everyone to get on the ship. she knows who's got the bug. she burns him. thats just the way it is.
your right that they dont go back to the temple after things go bad...not on an expedition anyway. im sure they go back out of necessity at some point. however, they clearly go twice, where in between Holloway gets the little worm in his eye. that much seems very clear. we speculate that he passes it to shaw sexually. on the second trip, he begins to mutate.
RabidChinchillaMay 17, 2012
We know of at least two return trips. Likely the first trip is cut short when the storm is approaching. The crew can be seen racing back to the Prometheus with the storm barreling down on them. Shaw is riding on the back of one of the smaller vehicles begging them to drive faster. They reach the ship, but Shaw is blow off her feet. I think this first return, Holloway is already infected, but doesn't visibly show it. He may not even realize it until that eye worm scene. These shots are from return #2. No storm is behind them. Several crew members are messed up, including Holloway, who now is very visibly infected. Actually, one of the featurettes showed Shaw and Ford holding Holloway up as they got out of the vehicle. Then he screams and puts his hands up towards his head as he falls to the ground. I think that leads to this flamethrower segment.

HughMay 17, 2012
I don't want it to be Vickers burning Shaw, and you guys almost had my mind changed that it could be someone else, but in the video clip posted by @gameover man, you can see his arms are raised before the burning begins. I do believe it's Holloway, and he does look gray.

Hollow WayMay 17, 2012
centrosphere... I think that the space jockey head is found on trip #2. Because they seem to have the head with them right in the same scene above where Vickers torches Holloway.
And yes... I may be wrong, SO wrong... as none of us have actually seen the film yet. It will be fun to look at these predictions after the film's release! :)

Hollow WayMay 17, 2012
OrganicLife... there is a clip about Vickers just released a day or two ago (there are soooo many trailers and videos now that you will just have to find i yourself)... but we actually see Vickers torch Holloway. YES we actually see it. No clever cuts that mean it might be someone else... we see Vickers torch Halloway. Trust me... it's gonna happen.
In the trailers Holloway is visibly mutated and while Vickers and Ford hold him, he screams out with a non-human moan.
My guess (yes a guess... haven't seen film yet afterall) is that after the first trip where David takes back some moving alien goo from an urn, he asks Holloway on Prometheus "What would you be willing to do to get your answers?", and Holloway responds "Anything and everything." that David is a naughty android and somehow infects Holloway with that little micro worm we see in Holloway's eye.
Big things have small beginnings.

Hollow WayMay 17, 2012
Ohhh... I didn't see that just a few comments above.... gameover man.... has added the scene I referred to where we see Holloway is burned. Does he die? I guess we shall see.
The other thing... does this happen before or after the Fifield attack? If it happens after... then yes it seems very reasonable for Vickers to torch first and ask questions later.

Gem]n[May 17, 2012
Nope I'm not having it ... I don't reckon that's Holloway getting a suntan ... lol ...
I reckon it's the mutated person (whoever it is ... Fifield? ... maybe even Millburn?) who rises up in front of the Mechanic, that Vickers is torching ... ;) ...
There IS a scene change ... in the video ... that's all it takes ... so it can be ANYONE ;) ... you're ruling out people too quickly ...
EbugogoMay 17, 2012
After David sees the cobrahugger, he unpacks another David robot and sends him back in his place while he hides in the closet. When David2 encounters a live Engineer, we see David1 starts to quickly unpack David3....
centrosphereMay 17, 2012
@gameover man,
Nice take. This has to be the scene following that one I posted...I think Vickers and Shaw develops some antagonism after that.
I think it´s possible that David actually infects Holloway just out of scientific curiosity.
@Gem]n[
I really don´t believe so. If you observe, there is ample space behind Vickers. This means that she is at the entrance of the ship´s hangar _ the same place were we can see her menacing Holloway. It would be a little too much to see her torching two guys in the same place...like her is the gatekeeper from Hell...
EbugogoMay 17, 2012
I don't have any doubt that this is where Holloway gets taken out, but I think the other guy is shot, not burned.

gameover manMay 17, 2012
@gemini...to be fair, with the evidence found, its really not "ruling people out too quickly", its just VERY convincing evidence. at this point, the burden is really on someone to show some proof of why thats NOT holloway getting toasted.

Gem]n[May 17, 2012
Ok ... I do hear you guys ... BUT ... who, then, is the bloke (or woman) who rises up in front of the mechanic, in the hangar (near outside)? ... :) ... if THAT ain't Holloway then there's your TWO people :) ...
It's OK ... I'm on and off the fence on this one trying to gather evidence lol ... so I'm in two minds ;) ...
As an observation ... where's the TRUCK (in the background) gone while Holloway is holding out his arms ??? ... :) ...

gameover manMay 17, 2012
@gemini...I actually think that IS holloway rising up in front of the mechanic. i think he gets burned, collapses...a mechanic comes rushing out, calling Vickers every name under the sun, and running over to holloway. the rest of them get into a huge argument, mainly vickers and shaw, but you have to imagine that everyone is going to have something to say about this.
meanwhile, while no ones paying attention, holloway turns into whatever it is we see, the mechanic turns around, and crunch, or splat, or rip, whatever this things preference is for slaughtering insignificant, naive characters.
so i think holloway gets torched...not killed.
Diddly SquatMay 17, 2012
Are we sure that's Holloway? Throughout all the trailers and teasers he has quite noticeable stubble and I can't make any out from the clip or stills. Could it not be Emun Elliot's character "Chance" or someone else?

gameover manMay 17, 2012
@diddley...
It COULD be just about anybody, but the only thing backing up that its not Holloway is that "we cant be absolutely sure". but we definately see holloway start turning that grey color down in the temple, then definately see him getting worse after being helped off the rover(there is a shot of that where we can see his namecap somewhere in this jungle of threads), and we definately see shaw seemingly concerned about whats about to happen to that person, and all of that points at that person right there being Holloway.
centrosphereMay 17, 2012
Shaw´s despair is the key.
I believe the scenario traced by gameover man is credible. Vickers torches Holloway, he falls burning, altercation ensues and in a classic horror movie trick the bad guy literally resumes from the ashes and attacks. The something confronting the mechanic seems burned; it´s helmet is broken; and his face seems definitely not human anymore.
RabidChinchillaMay 17, 2012
It's Holloway. When the first trailer with that scene of the weird looking gentleman with his hands outstretched came out, the image was blown up. The skull cap clearly said "Holloway" on it. I think that thread is on this board somewhere. Way, way back....
Fried Holloway, sounds delicious!

Gem]n[May 17, 2012
@gameover ...
Yeah you got me so far mate ;) ... but I'm soldiering on :) ...
@centrosphere ...
Yes Shaw's despair gives it away too ... in THAT scene (only) for sure ;) ...
I am NOT disputing that the scene with the guy with his arms wide open is not Holloway ... that is obvious (maybe lol) ... I can see his name plate fine on a hi-res image ... so I believe in THAT scene (or shot) it is Holloway ... simples ...
It's the scene with Vickers TORCHING someone and the THING rising up to the MECHANIC that I'm working on :) ... I'm a bit dubious because like ALL of the scenes from ALL of the trailers they have ALL been chopped up (mashed up) to f*ck ... all out of sync and not in chronological order ... so I don't trust anything I see in the trailers anymore :/ ... until I see some sort of recognition on those 2 subjects, I just described, I'm not having it ... lol ... ;) ...

Hollow WayMay 20, 2012
Gem]n[... I see your point with that scene with something/someone in front of the mechanic. Holloway? Fifield? Someone else? Evidence suggests Holloway, but you ae right... it's not 100% certain until we see the film.
