Meteors brought life to Earth

As NASA indicates, and is a common belief amongst the scientific society today, meteors that hit the Earth through history, are probably the beariers of life on Earth. Survinig organisms travelling with the meteors from various places in the |Cosmos have inhabited our world, and helped produce the atomsphere and all other elements of life as we know it today. Which means, that probably no life could have existed before, since our planet was a mass of lava. After if froze, incoming organisms from space were able to thrive and build the building blocks of life. Even though this contradicts with my religious backgroudns, perhaps this must have given an idea to RS for the Prometheus script. Maybe augmented a bit, as NASA believes that micro organisms have managed to travel through space and survive on our planet to create DNA blocks of life. But maybe Prometheus script writers, have assumed that these micro organisms must have come from other planets with advanced civilizations that possibly met their triumph and doom at some point in time. But then again who knows. But as RS implies in his interviews, the film is based on actual data of what might be out there...this must be a part of it somehow...
