Murals...why?

I'm curious about the [u]format[/u] of the murals too. There is a great deal of [u]symbolism[/u] in the fact that they are being done that way. I suspect she is crying because they are reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel or some other site that would seem sacred to her as a Christian. At this point none of the maheym has begun. The "xeno angel" does not look terribly sinister if you've never seen a zeno warrior eat someone's brains out. She may be having a religious experience. But, I'm certainly not sure of that.

That is strong point. I wonder what the mural changes into? What triggers it to start with and does that trigger, start the entire process of events in the ampule room?

I don't think the mural changes, we know the stuff in the cannister moves from the scene where david looks at it, its probably something to do with them on the roof as you see whatever it is moving before she says it.

True, the top of the ceiling is what moves, most murals that I have seen, and especially the ones mentioned by sukkal, all had murals on the ceiling as well. That is my thought process on the connection.

Maybe the tear comes when she sees the xeno design or something else up on the ceiling in the process of changing just happens to form a cross, simply by accident...a religious experience as sukkai suggested.

Or maybe she cries because she is disappointed. She expected to see angels on those murals, and all she could see were... DEMONS!

It could be nothing to do with her religious views, she is a scientist after all and maybe she is just overwhelmed knowing they have found another civilization and we really are not alone.

I thought Shaw was shedding a tear because of how overwhelming the discovery is to her. As for the murals you speak of, the ones that are "changing"....I don't know for sure, but I think it has to do with some Engineered panspermic stuff that can rapidly change the structure of anything and anyone. At some point months back there was a name for it. It was called "Bioform". But we don't know if this name still holds up.

I think Eli is crying because maybe she sees the future, and it's a long boring godless marriage with Holloway that ends in divorce when he leaves her after he finds a sexy younger lab assistant.

We are not going to 100% know for sure untill we see the movie but yes i do think the simularties to Chapel Murals and maybe how the Xeno one looks like Christs Crucifixion.

She would be crying for confirmation or for deception. Difficult to know with certainty, but personally I think that scene happens in the first part of the movie, at the first trip to the temple; probably not yet time to hell breaks loose; this means she still has hope _ and then probably the tears come from a positive experience (for a while).
