The end of the movie?

The end of the movie is a transforming Holloway, he is the creature we see in the first trailer standing at the water's edge. The blue guys are not the engineers they are just gate keepers, protectors of the ampule's. The engineers are the beings in the cylinder ship, we see Holloway at the end of the movie becoming something and it is the tease for the sequel.....

Iffy concept, but Holloway does seem to be a major character so something like this could happen. The real question is just how much is Ridley planning to steal from/honor 2001?

It's very probable that the blue guys are the space jockeys. Not confirmed, but the evidence is enough.
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

It has been said that the people who construct the movie trailers for Prometheus were not given access to the final 8-12 minutes of the film. So if it is at the end there are still some scenes following it.

So you meant to say that king near waterfall is holloway? no way... Look at his face, you'll see a lot of difference, even in mutation condition.

This discussion is dipping its toe into the SPOILER-verse. A topic can open with speculation, but all it takes is one sentence from a member to throw the whole thing into SPOILER-ville. True, there can't be "real spoilers" until the movie is released, but some consider things seen in trailers. tv-spots and featurettes to be spoiler material.

@Wirrn : I think the man developing at the waterfall is the first in the evolution of man/human on Earth. The opening of the film is supposed to be about the first major evolution of earth and terraforming. That or it's an engineer forming into man in relation to our environment. I do also think that shaws baby is in someway connected to an early development of the Alien or face hugger (chicken/egg), whether it is not evident initially it becomes evolved into that eventually.
Two weeks and counting - will we all be hit with anti climax?

Hi I'm thinking and i'm probably wrong.Their is an Alien connection. Their are any number of these "space jockey" alien craft crashed on various planets?

David looks skyward and sees a vessel streaking overhead through space...the Nostromo, crew asleep soon to be awakened....

"This is Rumor Control. Here are the facts! " ; )
The xeno "teraforming-bio-weapon" (egg, face-hugger, alien) was created at least 1 million years BEFORE Prometheus. This is an indisputable fact presented to us in the 1979 movie Alien.
Dallas comes upon an skeleton fused and fossilize into a chair as if they were one. The skeleton is actually a space suit and the wearer inside has become dust. Its chestburster (from a face-hugger from the cargo it was carrying to destination unknown over 1 million years ago) burst through the engineer and then through its bio-exoskeletal suit. But not before the "pilot" was able to force-land on Acheron (LV-426).
May 20, 2012
I think the last bit where your theory says cargo was landed could be where prometheus is going to tell us the truth. It could be prometheus crashing with that engineer ship and at the same alien coming out of pilot's suit. and then beacon and ship both are in the same condition as we seen in the alien movie.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

@abordoli
We dont know how old the Eggs are or how long ago the Derelict landing on LV426 was... Ridley said maybe the Technology of the Derelict is a Million years old. He has not said for sure "oh yes that ships been there for a Millin Years"
Maybe Ridley will touch upon it after the movie, but i doubt it gets any mention during the movie....
Oh Water Fall guy is.....

He is who Ridley brought in for the face of the Engineer, well the first one and Sacrefice one... its his face that the Statue is modeled after.

@ abordoli....
How do they know it is in fact a million years old?....they did not really examine it much....maybe it is only 30 years old...maybe Ridley does'nt really care much for the assumptions that was made in Alien....?....we all thought it was an actual creature....now it is a suit!.....we all thought it was a million years old....maybe it's not....that's all I'm saying?
EDIT....ok only read your last post now....
May 20, 2012
Well aparently we are not going to see another Derelict or Eggs....
And the movie will be left very open ended...
So we can not rule out that the events of this movie create the Xeno from Alien, maybe its not clear, so as we could after seeing the movie think....
Ermmmm i wonder if the Xeno sometime latter comes next.....
Or it could go on to create something really new....
Ridley said the movies where Mommy meets Daddy and about the Xeno Progenitor.... plus seeing Alien DNA in the last scene and also that it would link to Alien...
Maybe that link is vague, that leaves a hint that it could lead to Alien thus maybe Prometheus 2 is the Prequel to Alien... or this is a reboot who knows.
I am sure Ridley hinted that the Xeno orginated via the Space Jockey, so maybe its a case of Shaw is the Xenos Nanny and Engineer is Daddy, while Holloway is Grandpa lol...
I guess we will find out.... but maybe not till Prometheus 2 ?

My money has been on Holloway all along. I asked who was the most Prometheus like before and I still see him as the one. Though a good argument can be made for David, I think the OP is onto something with Holloway as blue guy. Just part of the fun of speculation.
May 20, 2012
Its Holloway,
He is the only survivor and he is almost completely transformed, the real engineers come and that is the teaser for the next movie.
May 20, 2012
The back of the head of this guy holding his hand, has blue veins developing much like Holloway does on his face when he's infected.
Maybe they banish him from the ship being infected, he goes off and changes into the blue guy, later coming back to save the day?
May 21, 2012
I find it a much more interesting scenario to have Holloway mutate into Blue Guy and outlast the others to become Lone Survivor, than for Shaw to survive and become the Next Ripley. Much as I adore Sigourney Weaver, one of the reasons the Alien sequels were so weak and unrealistic was that the studio expected the writers to shoehorn her character into every. Single. Sequel. As the lead, no less. Even when the story would have been better served with fresh blood. If Prometheus is going to have sequels, then I really don't want another Ripley.

@takka
Smiles......steal and honor are both time honored and noble in art, a grand tradition of reinterpretation, it's really a matter of perspective as to whether it's good or bad.
This film is rife with religious themes and symbols, as was 2001 with its three layered trilogies and evolution is the main theme I see here....but I don't see a preachy bent to any of it....it's more referencing than direct dogma.
I think that all the flashy gory stuff in this film is a mere sideshow and setting in which faith is ultimately rewarded but not where it was originally directed. Shaw's faith, turned aside by the reality of leading the expedition to a hostile environment which she believed held the answers she sought, will be instead placed in David, a creation of her own species, and it her faith that enables him to become the transformational being in this film.
I think this film holds massive disappointments for a large segment of the fan base....I see it as intellectual and philosophical elements laid over a backdrop of high powered action, not as a xeno festival, although enough of that has been placed in the film to hopefully satisfy that kind of craven focus.
The crew travels to the planet and wakes a force it shouldn't have and for good reason...the force wants only to survive and the humans are a deadly threat to it.

COME ON! @Forever War, a lot of people know that this movie is not a feast of Xenos ¬¬
And it is a fact that is full of references to psychological issues and winks directed at "2001: A Space Odyssey"...But believe me I will enjoy much of this movie and I know that all mysteries will not be resolved...
